We still can't input Coordinates for planet surfaces. Why?

This is the most ridiculous kind of missing feature. I have been flying circles around a planet for 2 hours looking for something, I am legally blind i cannot squint at the little numbers in the bottom right corner. Why has this not been fixed? It was brought up in Horizon's Beta, before the game got completely broken by engineers, and all the dev time got spent making store items and "fixing" that.

Can we PLEASE get an answer from FDev about this, I'm to the point where I honestly regret backing Horizon's, this latest update has certainly helped the game but features like this do not require a massive patch to implement, why do we get all of our quality of life features in large chunks, why not introduce them as they're done? I'm unable to do any surface site things that don't have things market in the navigation panel from space.I don't find circling a planet watching the numbers flip around and drop to be very rewarding gameplay. I also think the Long Lat system might be bugged this update as my numbers will jump from negative to positive super quickly

Sandy's last word on it was over a year ago and he said that before they would consider doing it there would need to be 'gameplay to support it'.

So like me, every time you find yourself doing something in-game where you would actually want to fly to specific coordinates, just remind yourself that you shouldn't be irritated because whatever you're doing doesn't actually exist.

I think a feature that people have requested over and over again should take priority over "Gameplay to Support this" There are crash sites, alien ruins, ect that require you to watch the coordinated, isn't that gameplay to support the feature. I literally just logged out i'm not flying circles around a planet for 3 hours, that's not gameplay it's tedious time wasting.

Try engineering instead its totally not tedious especially if you need G5 mats :D

Seriously?

I hate the clumsy way it is now so much, I ignore anything in the game that requires it.

Unless I missed a later comment yeah, seriously. I know, I know...

It's not that I can't navigate to a given point, just that it involves so much more ing about than it needs to.

inb4 someone starts going on about 'skill-based gameplay' which is how this topic usually goes, seemingly missing the facts that 1) it ain't really a 'skill' gate to begin, nobody is addressing the Riemann hypothesis here and 2) anybody who just loves pretending to be a 16th century ship captain could still navigate manually by simply not setting a waypoint.

Yes. That was the point I was making.

Yeah, Frontier doesn't seem to think surface waypoints, bookmarkers, or a coordinate tool are important to the game. Most players have been wanting these features since 2.0 went live and feel that it's sorely needed, but the devs don't for some reason.

It seems like an obvious and super important QoL improvement to me and I'd honestly use them every single time I play the game, but whatever.

What worries me is that if Sandro can't imagine what gameplay this would enable, what else doesn't he get about how the game is played?

Yeah, it sort of lends credence to the mythos that the devs don't play the game too much. I mean I know they play the game, but I sometimes wonder if they just take combat ships out to shoot at things and don't really do anything else in the game, lol. Because to anyone who plays planetside at length or with groups, it sure becomes obvious right quick that it would be incredibly useful to have.

That's a worrying thought. I would really like this feature too. I'd actually like sharable bookmarks (some sort of text string) that we could cut'n'paste just like the name of a system. That's something I want, even though I've gotten very good at landing at a particular latitude and longitude. That's still a hassle, compared just landing at a marked spot.

"numbers will jump from negative to positive super quickly" That may be correct; there's a place where the numbers switch from positive to negative (when you are on the far side of the moon/planet from the 0 point).

I don't understand why I have the technology to set a custom POI on my GPS in my car using long and lat coords in 2018, yet I can't create a custom bookmark in my ship's nav computer in 3304.

This pretty much sums up the entire argument, lol.

No i mean they're instantly inverting. I think there may or may not be a bug. I was at negative 160 lon looked down again a second later and was positive.

This is easily one of the most requested game features on the forums. A way to input manual waypoints.

Thing about it, is that we have an awesome looking planetary map that tracks nothing. It doesn't accurately show you which side is the current dark side. You can't point and click to marks things, you cant input lat long to see where the location is near by geographical features, and you can't point click to set way points that you can then fly to...

You are mistaken: That is content according to FDEV. ;)

That would require all the developers to move over from coding the engineering "Grade Completion Ring" subsumption architecture.
