what are the best mods for Manticore Executioner

As I said earlier in the thread, greater range just affects damage fall off, it doesn’t increase the overall range. I’ve never had a G5 exe not kill an unshielded target (yet) regardless of range. It either hits & kills or doesn’t make it the distance so certainly in my view greater range isn’t all that useful. I guess there’ll be a certain distance right at the very end of the range in which the G5 might not kill a high level target but I suspect it’s a very small window as I haven’t experienced it yet.
OK, that's some excellent information - and I do have a G5 Executioner. Glad you said that. I think my best bet is to actually try it a long range and see what happens! (Wasn't confident it would work before).

Now I need to get a Scabenger mission, test it out and then figure out what the next mod will be.

BTW, I was under the impression that Magazine size only added +1 to the magazine - it actually takes the magazine to +2 i.e. a count of 5 (not that that is really useful when used as a sniper weapon...)

It adds 50%

You don’t want noise suppression, you want audio masking, NS only works indoors. Although in my experience AM isn’t really necessary at the ranges I use the Executioner.
from my experience you want both.
i had it several times now that i shot someone indoors with Noise Suppressor, and while no one INSIDE heard it, Guards from OUTSIDE ran in.
 
Can anyone who has applied the scope mod to an Executioner tell me what the difference is between it and the default scope it has. I've applied greater range to mine but have no idea how much better thew scope mod is.
 
Here I roll with Faster Handling, Hipfire Accuracy, Noise Suppressor and Audio Masking.

The last two speak for themselves, making the Tormentor a "Hold on Commander, this will only take a min..."<BLAM> option both indoors and outdoors without causing a ruckus.

The first two are there to maximise the Old West/Space Cowboy feel with quick-draw-and-hipfire. I'm sure I'd get more actually useful stuff out of extended magazine for example, but you can't put a price on style. :cool:

I've got a G4 Executioner with increased magazine (got it like that) and I've added stability to it, I only have three engineers unlocked so have to go through Kit Fowler (aargh, those swine OPs) to get to Yarden Bond (aargh, those swine SCs) for the audio masking. I'll probably go with the scope for the last slot over range (aargh, Wellington Beck/Oden Geiger).

I've been having great fun eliminating entire settlements just using the Executioner on its own. Sometimes I'll empty the entire magazine just trying ridiculous range kills on anything that moves. I miss an awful lot.

One thing I've learnt is don't get into a duel with a sharpshooter, they don't seem to miss at all if you don't move, so you both end up doing a distance dance of shoot, move sideways, shoot, move etc. When I've finally had enough larking about I'll take out the L-6 and plant two rockets in their backside. I'll always go for the sharpshooter first before they're alert and have their shields up if at all possible.

So far I've had the most fun with the Executioner and have it equipped on every suit and having it on a suit with night vision is an absolute hoot in the dark.
 
I’m on the fence as far as scope for the Executioner. The FOV boost is fine for long distance shots, but in usual close combat ranges it seems to be too much, especially if I’m ADSing like usual.

I went stowed reload, audio masking, magazine and faster handling (so I can pop in and out of ADS faster). The only one I mildly regret is stowed reload, at least until I can teach my muscle memory to not hit the reload button after every encounter.

Possibly the subject for a different thread, but try LHS 1541, Ghatak's Peace (or something like that). IIRC the ruling system is in charge and you don't get a bounty for downloading them. It should be on the same planet that Chon (resort or whatever it's name is).

POST EDIT: that's for getting Smear Campaign Plans.

Now if any one knows of a particularly good system+settlement for Opinion Polls... I've been playing Odyssey since it dropped and I have 3 despite playing every day. I wish Fdev would make them mission rewards as well. Oh and Settlement Defence Plans while they're at it. Never seen one on my travels.

That's enough O/T from me.

OK, question for the initiated:

- if Faster Handling improves ADS and Higher Accuracy improves Hip Fire Accuracy (I believe this is just normal shooting without sights), what is the benefit of 'Stability' to reduce weapon recoil?

I understand what recoil is, but in-game, how does that benefit the Executioner? Do you get more shots faster because the weapon doesn't recoil so much?

PS Yes - still procrastinating on the best mods for my G5 Executioner. Currently got Audio Masking and Faster Handling.
 
Stability makes it easier to aim your next shot properly. It makes a difference when you want to two-shot enemies through their shields. I suppose its useful when you want to use the Executioner more as a run and gun weapon than a sniper rifle.

...Or, if you're a sniper with a bad shot (like me), a second chance? I suppose that the kick-back is less allowing you to get a second shot in more quickly?

Now I'm torn between Scope, Stability and Higher Accuracy.

Think I'll ditch Greater Range since the Executioner already does quite well at range...
