Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hmm.

Just did a few power restore missions to relax before I take on my next venture. No scavs dropped in. There were some already there, but I normally get a comms saying scavs were on their way and I'd expect a ship or two to drop in when I arrived.

This time, nothing.

A stealth change perhaps. I'll never get to Elite I combat now :D

Whistle-stop Nebula tour!

Chillin' at the Monkey Head:

Not lookin' too shabby:

Given that I left 26% of her hull on this brown hell-hole:

2TGv5fR.png

... clipped a big rock skimming the surface looking for bacteria puddles.

Low altitude barrel roll =/= recommended.

And then the Rosette Nebula:

I've decided to leave the Seagull for another time - having moved back towards the bubble I can feel it calling me, so I better about face and get on my way to Rho Cassiopiae before I change my mind!

40 jumps out from Jellyfish Nebula atm. Will dock there, repair up, re-spray the Princess Astrophel (just tidy up the scuff marks, if I can), and then we're off!

If the gravity isn't too high I would suggest flying inverted @ about 50m is a better option than a barrel roll, or come to a stop roll onto your side then while stopped pitch round 360 degrees while maybe 100m up.

Oh, the barrel-roll was entirely ship+rock interface induced, not in any way a pilot initiated manuever

Flitting along at <10m at 200+ speed, I looked left when I should have looked right. PRANG!

Sadly, I did not have the presence of mind to save the rolling 20 min Nvidia highlight reel, or I could have posted video here for posterity 🤪

I think I need to fly a lil higher and a lil slower - especially as I'm day 10 into covid, with no sign of a negative test yet. Not feeling too shabby now, but still impaired, clearly

Never did find the Bacteria Puddles on that Mud-hole, either!

While I do fly that low when looking for Bio signs I travel nowhere near that fast, usually at about 50. This sadly is not due to any desire to fly smoothly and safely but the fact that my rig and settings do not let the landscape and extras like rocks, Geo features or Bios to draw before I reach them if I fly much faster.

It is alleged that there are 3 types of geology out there...

Found some!

Luckily, all 3 types of geological feature where close by, so it was only 30 mins bimbling about in the dark.

I didn't take too many pictures, on account of it being so dark - 200k Ls out from the star...

That, and the flash would probably have attracted a Grue, and getting eaten so soon after crashing and rolling my spaceship would have been just too embarassing!

Arrival - Jellyfish Nebula:

AcE3DLV.png

Lets see, I make that..

Plieades
California
Crab
Monkey Head
Rosette
Jellyfish...

...my sixth Nebula on this trip!

Plenty more to go!

Beta Site - always a welcome sight out here:

On the pad:

Paintwork down to 29%:

Data cashed up, just over 600 million now. Exploration exp bar about halfway through Pioneer. Hopefully make Elite by the time I get back to the bubble.

Re-sprayed and ready to go:

It's about 10k LY to Rho Cassiopiae - and about the same back to the bubble from there.

So roughly one Colonia, give or take.

Ok, here we go:

EYTWX5F.png

Barely 7 Jumps out and already 4 pristine systems mapped (ok, so two of them only had stars (1 and 3, repective), but still!).

This could take a while

I like your pics the most because you fly a proper spaceship. (y)
