Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

O F.... I forgotten to backup the keybinds before updating..... 🤦‍♀️ 😓 finger crossing...
Win 10 file history (Update & Security in settings) - if your on win 10 - can do that for you, and it's automated... Rather basic backup tool, but it does the job, + you can also backup your journals. Just add there the following folders, and set it to backup them daily or something:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments
C:\Users\Username\Saved Games
Data size will be in GBs, journals are rather heavy. You got to have 2nd drive in your machine for that i believe, but external one should do. Backup is a good thing, automated one isn't really so reliable, but it may still save the day.

I bet you never disabled GUI Effects, right? Cuz I did, and that makes the new issue happen. I'm not even sure what GUI Effects are, but had them disabled because...I don't remember. :)
On GUI effects, it's a fancier way of interface panels opening. It makes them opening slower though. You probably disabled them as it makes things open much faster. Now when you told that i got a thought to try it as recently gal/sys maps slowness annoys me. Ah no it doesn't help with maps apparently, just panels opening quasi instantly.

I have a Viper MKIV that is set up for Odyssey mission running. I also have a Viper MKIII that is set up to be pretty darn fast and that's all.

Today I accidentally got into the MKIII instead of the MKIV and wondered why I kept overshooting and overcontrolling. I figured it was because I had been flying the Cutter most recently.

But no, it was because I was in the wrong ship. The MKIII cruises at 672 and boosts to 840, and my brain wasn't expecting that sort of speed. I nearly collided with the ground when I went to land near a settlement. :)

The MKIII

I could make it a little faster yet with some engineering, but really, it's fast enough for me. I'm not much of a racer :) Maybe I'll get around to it at some point.

Hey Codger, I think update 12 made your mustache crooked.

GUI - Graphical User Interface, that came out with Windows 1.0 as opposed to DOS - Disc Operating System. I remember using a Mac for the first time in the late 80's and it had a mouse, I kept telling everyone that this was the future.

I tried btw, it does let me change my ship even if gui effects are disabled, so idk. But if it works, then let it be.

Once i also read here somewhere on the forum, that small enhanced trusters do exist, and ofc went right away with building a very fast ship - for planetary ops as well, not a racer. iEagle was picked for that, however after putting srv handgar in (can't stand planetary ops without srv, what if the base is big, how to run), missiles (how again without missiles), wake scanner (could scan wakes on the way maybe), then yeah, it all required energy, so armored power plant... Also only g3 for thrusters for now. It all ended with 481/641 speed, rather modest, faster than cobra, but well. Can't stand empty slots. I rather spend mats for g5 lightweight... At some point.

Just logged in after the update. I was with my FC and the FC was where I expected it to be.
The fire groups on the DBX had changed though. Discovery Scanner was turned off and the Comp scanner had moved from the usual place with the Data-Link Scanner.

Swap enhanced thrusters drag drive effect for drive distributors and that MKIII will cruise at 710m/s and boost to 887m/s.
Might be an idea to up the shield strength if you do that :ROFLMAO:

I did have to change fire groups after an update once and it was kind've annoying. Mostly because I couldn't remember my exact system.

I'll probably have to change the fire groups in my other ships too.

Aw no. I had to reset my fire groups in March after not playing for a year and couldn't really remember half of them. I don't want to do it again.

I suspect it was the introduction of multi-limpet controllers that stuffed them previously.

Currently I'm just hanging out in my FC and waiting to see what CG might pop up tomorrow.

And it shaved my eyebrows off too.

Yes my fire groups also changed. Quite annoying.
