I dislike using NV when I'm mining but sometimes I have to use it.I am an idiot.
I just discovered night vision.
I've been mining in the dark the hard way since day one.
Are you space mining or surface mining?

Combat in the dark is quite tricky, unless....I am an idiot.

Cool, isn't it?I just discovered night vision.
Sun gravity looks pretty much like a Looney Tunes cartoon. How about a gravity demonstration to get us on our feet this morning?

Don't worry, as the FSS probes have no directional keys setup by default (at least for me), when I started ED and was trying to understand how mapping planets worked, I was using the probes as a fixed gun, firing straight, meaning that in order to shoot 6 probes to map an Earth sized planet, I had to move the ship in supercruise all around the planet and aim!I am an idiot.

Which is what I'm presently doing.Don't worry, as the FSS probes have no directional keys setup by default (at least for me), when I started ED and was trying to understand how mapping planets worked, I was using the probes as a fixed gun, firing straight, meaning that in order to shoot 6 probes to map an Earth sized planet, I had to move the ship in supercruise all around the planet and aim!
That's how I do it, but I sit on one location and fire them aroudn the planet...sometimes hitting the center one the far side is a little challenging...Don't worry, as the FSS probes have no directional keys setup by default (at least for me), when I started ED and was trying to understand how mapping planets worked, I was using the probes as a fixed gun, firing straight, meaning that in order to shoot 6 probes to map an Earth sized planet, I had to move the ship in supercruise all around the planet and aim!
I loved exploration, but that was veeeeeeeeeeeeeery time consuming, and I was getting very worried!
How's that on the idiotic scale?![]()
And that's how you are supposed to do it: you stand still and bend the trajectory with the gravity well. With the double engineered FSS it takes half of the recommended number to map the planet. Blam, blam, blam, and that's it!That's how I do it, but I sit on one location and fire them aroudn the planet...sometimes hitting the center one the far side is a little challenging...

That was not an engineered DSS, I just had months of practice at that point. With the double Engineered DSS I can usually do a max 7 shot body in 4 shots, but not always...And that's how you are supposed to do it: you stand still and bend the trajectory with the gravity well. At the beginning I didn't now I could aim, so I would fire straight ahead, move over the pole, fire one, move at the back, fire another one, and so on!
4 seconds vs 4 minutes!![]()
If you're in luck (my guess is that it also depends on the size of the planet) you can do it in 3, because sometimes I managed to pull it.That was not an engineered DSS, I just had months of practice at that point. +5 for wanting to see the bubble burn...I've had that itch for a new trip in the black for months now.
I even had my FC loaded with Tritium, and then that infamous CG came up, so I helped a friend of mine by letting him unload my storage to make progress towards his future carrier.
Now I have to reload, but I want to see the Bubble burn first, before I set off.
I even have the exploration ship ready for my next expedition (on every expedition I do I use a different ship): this time it's going to be a Mamba.
Looks more like a pomegranate,
We are on the same boat, then, I just happen to be a few steps ahead.Which is what I'm presently doing.
I don't think that is idiotic at all, for some reason ....Don't worry, as the FSS probes have no directional keys setup by default (at least for me), when I started ED and was trying to understand how mapping planets worked, I was using the probes as a fixed gun, firing straight, meaning that in order to shoot 6 probes to map an Earth sized planet, I had to move the ship in supercruise all around the planet and aim!
