Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I feel like Quain just became the owner of a mine.
His fleet carrier is parked in the triple platinum hotspot system Parrot's Head Sector EL-Y d83 paying 247K/t for platinum because some commanders in Reddit were interested. Quain's having AX fun and isn't in the mood for mining, so left them to it.
But come on guys, only 247t on your first day?
Where's the productivity?
🤣
They probably misread the price as the amount you wanted.

There is an easy way to test this idea, which I cannot test myself as I lack a carrier, increase the price by a factor of ten and see if you get ten times as much.

For science economics!

I'm around Colonia for two reasons:
  • I want all engineers unlocked (which would have been done by now if I wasn't completely stupid)
  • Get away from Thargoids - they're going to take over the bubble and humanity is doomed there. Doomed I tell you. Doomed.
Plus I want to go to Sag A* at some point.

Basically BGS stuff...

Robardin Rock - Asteroid Base - Only place in Colonia where Fed and Alliance ships are available. Was just taken away from a very large group ("Societas Eruditorum de Civitas Dei" Player Minor Faction) by a rag tag group of others ("The Nameless" player adopted minor faction) who basically live out here. If they lose it again the ships go away: https://inara.cz/elite/starsystem/126943/

The Nameless are an anarchy faction who have been reduced to 1% INF and a single Odyssey Settlement until just recently. Scroll down on this page to see the control graph: https://inara.cz/elite/minorfaction/76553/

You like combat, they could use your help, if you're interested.

Edit:

Sorry I didn't know the war was that far out. Here is the opposing group who does have some conflicts in Coeus and Diggidiggi (tomorrow): https://inara.cz/elite/minorfaction/44428/

But war will come again in Carcosa soon...
Had a look at Carcosa. Yep, CZ's! Only lows and one medium - but then I need more medium practice before to a high CZ anyway.

Thanks for the tip off! (y)

I think you can remove the .mov file but I wouldn't like to try...

EDIT - it might be an .avi - I remember someone else asking about this on another thread but I can't recall the details. Might be worth a search...

EDIT 2 Here you go:

YAY, I emptied the whole movies folder lulz

Ok, everything seems working fine now. Slowly working out my hud mod.

BTW way how do I skip that annoying salvation video at login???
Other than renaming etc. hitting escape works.

I had my doubts about that super weapon before that video, fortunately things didn’t go as badly as I feared.
I do wonder if it might have gone better if he had triggered the weapon immediately instead of after that five hour speech and if being somewhere other than directly over it would have helped.

I'm at 4.3 billion right now, so a couple more billion to go.

By the way, question for the forum: is the EDDiscovery app worth running, or should I just stick with the Elite Observatory?
They are totally different. EDDiscovery reads all your journals and puts them into readable, searchable form. That alone makes it worth using. But it's not a targetted app like EliteObservatory. It has tons of features, maybe too many. I mostly use the History and Ledger tabs, and also the Ship Loadout list (it keeps track of all your ships and their current loadouts, and can auto dump them into Coriolis or EDSY). I can also check back on any system I've been to and see what's there.

I also use it to auto-save my screenshots in .jpg format so I can upload them without problems (and it names them according to where and when they were taken).

It's quite useful, but more broad. The 2 don't intersect much, although there is some overlap.

400+ jumps one way has me thinking I'll never see it.
The time I went, I hitched a ride on a squad mates fleet carrier. The next time I go, I'll be jumping my own fleet carrier...I'm out in the black filling up at a metallic ring to fund my next tritium purchase, which, BTW, I found out the other day that I can get someone else to do the carting for me.

The "Tritium Monkeys" charge an additional 25k (so Gal Ave +50%) per ton to load your carrier with Tritium as a way to help the loaders be able to afford their own carrier one day...

Here's a link, which will expire in 7 days, to their Discord, https://discord.gg/hUfDQ3Ys

Gomez, are you still out in Elysian Shore? My Carrier is still nearby if you want a safe place, closer than the bubble, to drop off some carto data. Let me know...

I don't have the credits to multiply the price by 10 and don't want to bankrupt myself doing this. I'm not paying 2.47 million per ton for platinum...
