Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Thanks Tyres :)

:D

Despite having twenty ships now, I bought two Haulers earlier today, I tend to have pretty cheap tastes and go for Cobras, Vipers and so on. I've been trying to build mini fleets in different systems so I've always got somewhere I can go where I'm Allied if I need or want any particular kind of mission or activity, that's led to a lot of Cobras and not many big ships.

I have splashed out on one of each of the "Big 3" and am saving up my mats to outfit another Corvette so a lot of that will go soon. I just wish I could pick up some materials as easily as it is to make credits.....but that's what my two new Haulers are for, imaginatively named Selenium Hunter and Cadmium Hunter (;)) and left in systems high in those materials.

Ruthenium > Cadmium.

It's also found at the Anaconda crash sites...

I’ll rename it Ruth:D I was running between mat traders earlier trading the plethora of mats from destroyed ships I’ve picked up in the CNB I often go to and realised I’m low on Raw materials, so I’ll need to re-look at the trading tables to save some time. A trip to a crashed Anaconda is a good idea too, I think I’ve only done it once.

Having wasted most of the day following (remotely) the Great Thargoid War, I eventually dragged myself back to the game and I'm now two jumps from Colonia. Could have made it easily enough tonight, but decided to give myself something to look forward to tomorrow - a big payday and (I hope) Elite explorer status.

Although I'll give myself a couple of flying sessions to take a look around the neighbourhood, and then probably a few visits to some of these nearby nebulae, I'm also thinking about where to go next. I know most will suggest SagA, but I think I need somewhere less well-travelled. Need to study EDSM traffic reports, but I'm thinking due west looks a likely direction.

Funny you should ask about Guardian stuff, that's what I've been doing the last few sessions.

I unlocked a couple of the fighters, just because they are cool as cool can be.

I've not been much into having NPC crew before (for various reasons -- I don't really like how they are implemented), but I actually went out and hired a pilot, and I've been derping around in the HAZRES and on planets and stuff. I'm not sure why, but I'm having fun with these fighters. So there ya go.

Here's a couple of screenies from this week of Guardian work.

Me and the new crewmate hitting up the HAZRES:

An amazing Guardian Beacon. That's my Anaconda near it, there.

When I was at the Guardian site getting mats, I noticed that there was a very small moon orbiting the planet the ruins were on. I decided to check it out. As I got close I could see some very large ejecta craters, and I have heard that sometimes Brain Trees grow in them. So I landed there, and sure enough! Of course, when I checked the Canonn site they had already been discovered (by Baton, who else?), but still -- these are the first ones I ever found by myself, without knowing they were there ahead of time.

As for whether it's worth it to do the Guardian stuff, it IS. For the atmosphere alone, it's an amazing experience. The actual stuff you get isn't 'necessary' by any means, but it's all pretty neat stuff. The FSD Booster in particular is very useful.

So that's my report.

I am currently pondering my next ship. So far, I have the Sidey, Hauler, T6, Dolphin, DBX, Vulture, Cobra and AspX. I have 125m credits burning a hole in my Remlock pockets.

The FDL, Python and Krait are all doable but I'll need A rated modules which will skint me. Or shall I just keep saving until I can wangle a 'Conda? Decisions, decisions! :D

ETA The Clipper also looks nice. Rank locked though. I may have to work for Emporer Palpatine for a while.

Well this game seems to be all about thargoid battle these days. So after i stomached the gnosis exploration disappointment I spent an evening unlocking the large guardian cannons, outfitted my krait for alien battle, and I'm now destroying scouts in the weekly systems practicing the dreaded fixed weapons. Maybe gonna head out back to the gnosis after .. :)

You're missing the iCourier from your list. Lower rank requirements than the Clipper, and can be engineered to the fastest ship this side of Andromeda.

Faster than an engineered Viper III? I saw a video about a 900ms Viper a while back, which appealed to me, but if the iCourier is the thing, then I might go and do some things for the blue-haired anime princess when I get back..

My adequate Python costs 117MCr a similar build on my Krait is 100MCr and my all multi-cannon FdL is 97MCr so all of those are within your budget and allow for some rebuys however my all beam FdL is 192MCr and the Anaconda is 271MCr so you aren't there just yet.

Go for the Python, loathe it or hate it everyone should at least try one for a while. :D

With a fully engineered racing build (ie nothing on board) the Viper is faster at full boost.

Great general purpose ship. The Python.
I'm currently messing about with an Asp Scout.
I WILL make it useful!:D

Yes and no. The Viper can go faster, but you need to strip her down to little more than the bare hull. The iCourier has a lower hull mass to start with, so you can do a combat build that still can boost to >800.

Ah...! Ok then, I see a racing Viper in my future, plus a ridiculously nippy iCourier for some forms of combat. Will need to get paly with princess Amidala or whatever her name is, then :)
