Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Why, I need no persuading there at all! :D A mighty fine looking vessel indeed!

I am looking forward to that new spaceship smell already... (When back at the local ship yards, anyway.)

Brilliant.
A distinguished space traveller with exquisite tastes you are!
I have two myself.

Perhaps you'd like to shop for some paint kits in the meantime.

Would you be entirely surprised to learn that I have already purchased a paint kit for my Krait-to-be?

Fell in love with the ship the second I saw it :) A very versatile and configurable craft, I can see a lot of uses for it in my future!

Much truth!

If you're an explorer, in my opinion, there's nothing frivolous about a better fuel scoop!

Indeed :) But by the time I've honked the system, looked at the system map, and figured out what my strategy is for this stop, I've topped up already.. Plus the 28Mcr for a 6A scoop is half the price of a basic Krait, and I will of course want to get some more powerful options for the discerning sports-man added to it ;)

Mind you, I'll probably have enough to do both by the time I get back from the Perseus Fade!

LOL!
Actually no, but I am impressed with that commitment, without even flying it!

It is so much fun to fly.
You won't regret it, especially coming off of an Asp.

And I really like the Asp.

Great to hear such good things about the Krait from seasoned pilots!

I do love flying the Asp, so it is especially good to hear that the Krait is even more enjoyable. "Throwing it about like a maniac" is high on the list of things to do, it's lines just demand to be flown with zeal. I've not read anything bad about the Krait at all, and I'm particularly fond of the fact that it can be fitted out in a number of ways to good effect.

Obviously, I'll be wanting to put some higher performance internals in there, and experiment with the load-out. If you fine gentlemen have any suggested reference builds or tips, (for any and all applications!), I would be pleased to hear about them :)

OK, I think I got it... it won't set the world alight but it's got me a long way :) If anyone has any upgrade tips, I'd love to hear them. This is my main ship (and has had the most work ploughed into it). I use it for exploration and journies just to go and visit systems and ulock engineers. It's not meant for fighting in.

I went for an efficient power plant stripped down,
Fast Charge special on the shields, because it is great and stripped down gains very little.
I changed the deep charge on FSD to mass manager which is a slight improvement on jump range but gains you an extra 40Ly per tank of fuel.
I also went for my usual changes to power priorities.

Uncanny, I don't know how you worked that out :) Yep, "Scorch".

I was thinking of getting one for my Asp, but I already got "Apollo" for her, and now she is painted, that is her scheme in my mind. It would look odd to have anything different on her after ~15kly of flying.

Been visiting the two planetary settlements the Far God worshippers disappeared to. Some more terrific voice acted comm's logs to be discovered! Stopped off along the way to get the Scorch paintjob sprayed onto the job ... oh boy, now THIS is one stunning paintjob. Currently heading out to find an 'O' or 'B' class star to bask in front of for screenshots.

Sat just outside Ray's capturing wakes. Quite meditative. My Cobra is quite nippy now; just the tool for the job.

I used to fit out Sidewinders specifically for that role but now load up Cobra's with a Wake Scanner and use DD5's to boost like a hooligan from one wake to another, when I'm more sensible I use them for Planetary Scan missions or surface prospecting on planets local to the base system they reside in. I may build an Eagle for scanning and general fooling around as I don't have one but the Cobra is hard to beat.

Don't forget:

I'm still j-j-j-j-jumping to Colonia and enjoying the sights along the way. Today's downer, though, was that I appear to have forgotten how to take screenshots (just looked it up!) so I have no image of the beautiful ringed waterworld I found last night.

On the upside, earlier today I jumped into a system with a twinned pair of terraformable WWs, and a third WW further out, all unclaimed so far.

Lots of nebulae in these parts, too - after Colonia I'll have to get out again and pay some of them a visit. Around 150 jumps to go...

Edit just to prove I can...

Wow, lovely photo, Rusty!

Thanks! I'm rubbish with the camera controls, and not posted screenshots because of it. But I'm trying!

I was hoping the ringed moon in the foreground was closer to the ringed gas giant in the background - would have been much more dramatic - but I was pleased with what I got.

Gawd, another engineer to unlock.

:D

I use an A rated G5 fast scan wake scanner, and find that superior to the long range.
2 seconds of scan time is a blink, and you can boost between wakes easily with a 3k range.
If you'd rather just sit still and don't mind waiting, then LR is better.
I get way more bored that way, and the long scan time seems longer, and longer as time goes on.

My next project is unlocking a couple of the Guardian SLFs.

I haven't done much Thargoid content but I love my SLFs!
