Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

But you can go full throttle in SCA until you get down to 6 or 7 seconds to arrival, set throttle to blue and then when you're within about 4 LS to arrival, speed up until you go into slowdown (@ < 6 seconds to arrival) and then go back to the blue zone on the throttle for a guided arrival...
That's far too much bother for me. I'm not in much of a hurry most of the time! :p

I haven't done any core mining yet...hoping to...some day...maybe...
I can relate. Maybe now that I have the Python, I'll get around to try that...

Regarding the SCA, I usually use it if I am heading for a station or some signal source, but if my target location is on a planet, I cruise manually (unless I have to travel over a long distance - I'd rather find my ship orbiting the target planet than being somewhere thousands of LS out in the black because I dozed off...).

So how was yer Friday night? I went looking for a good warehouse party… ;]

Ok then, off to do some shopping at T'u Tu. Hope my poor carrier can withstand a mighty jump of 28 LY. Also hope it parks at the correct body as there seems to be some sort of "carrier destination not valid" (or something) bug that I found a possible workaround fix in Reddit for.

Chocks away chaps.

Yep, there’s a known bug since U14 with selecting a specific system as FC destination - and an ez workaround til it likely gets fixed in U15 soon enough…

It's a known bug, there's a workaround that's been posted although it's slated to be fixed this month. SImply exit out to the galaxy map using the exit button in the left corner and re-enter the system map, navigation to planets will then work fine!

Thanks and I figured it was something like that. Anyway we've arrived now and parked in the correct place. Couldn't get right next to the tritium selling station as there's another carrier in that spot, but we are second in the line so not too bad I guess.

yep sometimes in busier systems one has to even be a few LS from your preferred Tritium buffet - “how’s my parking? …it’s ok we can walk to the curb from here!”

The workaround is: when you get the "not valid" message, exit back one screen to the galmap. Select your system again, go into its sysmap and reselect your body. Voila! Valid destination!

Take the T9 out for some tritium mining somewhere in the bubble so you can get a feel for how long it takes to mine it. It basically takes far too long to collect enough tritium for even one maximum range jump (100t) for it to be something you would choose to do. It's an emergency measure only to rescue you from mis-calculation of fuel requirements.
Yes, everyone in the Bubble should buy Tritium. In Colonia it is a different story as supply is miniscule in the stations.

Absolutely. Your ship should explode with the g-forces such deceleration would entail.
But you're only going at normal thruster speed. Supercruise is an Alcubierre drive warp so your ship isn't actually travelling at relativistic speed.

Granted, going down from several hundred metres per second to virtually zero quite quickly would normally be bad for you as a soft squidgy human, but I can't see why a well-built ship would splatter itself across the star system.

Yes until recently I hadn't realised that supercruise assist wasn't around when I played before in 2015, and have just been using it as it seems to be a default in every ship these days, mostly without really thinking about it.

I've been wondering lately if I can get to places quicker without it though, so I think I'll remove it from all my ships that have it.
No need, you can override it with the acceleration setting in the panel 4 options (Ship > Supercruise Assist > Manual Throttle), so pressing max thruster will keep you at max speed and you just move into the blue for the final approach at 0'07".

Good to now about this option - though, as I tend to use SCA for AFK/feeding the cat etc., I will probably stick to the slower auto-throttle / full cruise-control as it gives me a few xtra secs/minutes to boil the kettle / brew the tea, etc... :]

...

The point is that the field is disengaged (it disappears) at that point and the ship is subjected to the deceleration from that speed, that is why there is a safe speed to disengage and any disengaging at higher speeds (emerg drop) produces damage. At the enormous speeds the SCA exploit drops at, the ship would explode.

Oh well, here we go again then.

Went to station in T9, picked up 756 tons of tritium and made it safely back to carrier. After docking, went to R/H panel in ship, then Inventory and the 756 tons of tritium showed there.

Went to Transfer and clicked on "confirm transfer to carrier" (or some wording like that) and the tritium then showed as gone from ship. Clicked on Carrier Management but tritium doesn't show any more in the fuel tank than what I had before.

Clicked on Tritium Depot but shows zero Tritium. Clicked on carrier Commodities Market and doesn't show there. I was clicking all over the place, but no joy...

Have I missed something? Cheers guys. :geek:
