Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Well now you know! :)
1) Be at an IF in a system where the faction that issued your fine or bounty does NOT have a presence.
2) Log off and on while you are at the IF.
That usually fixes things. You can also try logging into Horizons 4.0. That will sometimes work, too.
Which ship missions stop the timer on completing the requirements?
Some do, and some don't. I know Pirate massacre type missions don't time out once you've completed them, anyway.
TBF, I should have realised part of a salvage mission was returning the salvage! It was late, I was tired, Detectorists was on.
The faction I got a fine from only exist in one system (Tau Ceti) and I tried paying it off at Gupta City in a nearby system I can't remember the name of.
The fine doesn't show up in Tau Ceti either and no option to hand myself in.

Hey all, just wanted to clue you in to this new finding.

Long story short, if you have a ship kit on your ship, you'll take a lot more caustic damage! Yep, you heard that right. So take them ship kits off if you're going into combat.
Frontier's doing the "sun-setting" marketing thing now, eh? Making kits they sell dangerous in Xeno combat, brilliant. Are there any ships (make or model) that can cause the same accelerated caustic damage?

Hmmm...

I'd say, if you want to do some sightseeing, book a cruise instead of a commander.
Commanders are always in a time crunch of sorts.
On a cruise ship you will have flight attendants taking care of your needs and provide you with any available information to these locations.
If you aren't able to book a cruise for some reason you don't want to elaborate on, don't complain or you'll find yourself floating around the beacon in a life pod...

I won't be heading into the fray with my Hazard T6 explorer then :D

So if I put a hazard kit on a ship to go into a hazardous Maelstrom where better ship lights might be attractive the ship will suffer faster caustic damage.
The one reason why I might be tempted to get his kit invalidated....

I rebought the 'Silver Pixie' Sidewinder a few days ago, and now have her finished and ready for the Exobilogy ball. It will be at least a few weeks before I take the carrier out into the black again to put her to good use.
With some engineered 2D thrusters (yes I really did sink some pharmaceutical isolators into this ship) she'll boost to 461m/s maybe. The boost is pretty feeble. I went with strip down and not drag on top of grade 5 dirty tuning so I can get just over 40ly jump range. Set up like this the Sidewinder is a fun little ship to fly with soap buuble 1A enhanced low power shields. I'll think about borrowing an 0E grade 5 heavy duty shield booster or two from another ship when carrying valuable data.
This is a better ship than I remember it being, but then the engineering helps. The cockpit view is actually excellent even though you can't seen beneath your feet as with the Asp X and Phantom.

Sounds to me your ready to head out to Beagle Point in that Sidy. I remember someone pointing out the videos on YouTube about the guy who went around interdicting everything that moved in a Sidewinder, very funny videos, very versatile ship. Nice job, have fun.

The 70.48ly jump range Phantom took me to Beagle Point and beyond to Salome's Reach. If I ever went that way again, I'd want to revisit Far Oasis in the Abyss which needs some 126ly jumps to reach it and get out again. So for me, the benchmark jump range for any long distance exploration ship is 63, ideally 64ly jump range so it can make that trip. I'll stick to short range exploration in this Sidewinder. Not sure how much I'll use it. Depends on how much of a giggle doing the exobiology in it is. It's for the Exobilogy rank and the sight seeing as I don't need the credits. Sag A* in a Sidewinder - maybe, but its been done many times before by others.

How about a galactic circumnavigation in a sidey? That would be epic.
