Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Currently, exobiology. Payouts for some of those plants are insane - especially if you go off the beaten paths and can add a first discovery bonus to them.

Exo huh? They did a big buff to the payout? I did like a couple, was only like 1m or so per plant iirc.

Whats the payout now?

This is the thing where you go anal probe 3 same family plants over 3 frame-shift hop distances on some low atmo rock right?

Careful there, you might not want an Osseus returning the favour… :sneaky:

…but fwiw, yep it’s quite lucrative - so get out there, explore away & sample your way to a new Cutter or mebbe its 7A thrusters… you can even keep a carrier running on the commission :]

If you find e.g. stratum tectonitas on a first footfall (and there are still lots out there), it's 19M payout + 70M first discovery. Can easily pick up 500M+ for an evening or two's wandering off the beaten track.

Don't even have to go that far to find them - there are systems within a couple of thousand light years where ye olden explorers just scanned for the earthlike & water worlds, if you FSS the boring tiddlers there are often some with bio signs.

Minimum payout is 1.0M the highest I have found so far is 7.7M the first discovery bonus for that plant on that planet is 4 times the payout for the plant.

Three samples for each plant taken a minimum of 150m apart to a maximum of 800m apart depending on the plant.

Some systems have only 1 plant on 1 planet others have as many as 10 per planet on several planets.

If the system is fully discovered and mapped it doesn’t mean you are out of luck for the first discovery bonus as we could do that long before we got to land. An unmapped body is a good sign but if you don’t get the first footfall notice you might be out of luck though if the plants were hard to find you might still have a chance. You will get the standard payout anyway of course.

Johann Fleischer, the recently appointed head of the mining corporation Caine-Massey, has been shot and killed on Mars.

The weapon used in the attack was a professionally modified Manticore Executioner marksman rifle.

Hmmm... do we have a prime suspect in our midst?

And here's mine - It's a twelve-gauge, double-barreled Manticore. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the anti-scavs department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Marshalls's Drift, Aurai. Retails for about CR199.950,000. It's got a platinum stock, cobalt-blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right... shop smart: shop S-Mart.

Mr. Tyres O'Flaherty, can you tell us where you have been on the 31st of March, 3309? And would you care to explain that empty space in your gun colelction? Looks like a Manticore Executioner might have fitted right in here.

I was indoors all day and all night on my own. Honest, guv.

The empty space is because... because... er... oh, yes: the gun that goes there was stolen. Yes. That's it; stolen.

I think that might actually help clear @Tyres’ name - that appears to be an Intimidator  …but better check the other gun cabinets in the study anyway ;]

I'm now 11,000-odd LY from Sol in Sanguineous Rim and approaching Achilles's Altar region. Still got about 9,500 tons of Tritium in the hold and depot, out of the 11,500 tons I left the bubble with.

I wouldn't normally have bothered to map this high-metal planet when it's not a terraforming candidate, is not landable and has no bio signals, as its Cartographics value is not a lot at all really, but it has unusual colours so thought it might be worth a screenshot. :coffee:

Really fascinating. I wish we could at least get a little* closer to investigate the topographical features...

*: About 10 km above ground would suffice for starters...

Aye. If you come across a high-metal body with bio signals and one of them is Stratum, chances are it's a Tectonicas as that's the type of body they are found on. I've come across several of those, with just two signals and it's usually Bacterium and Stratum Tectonicas so definitely well worth finding, especially if you're getting first footfall as well as you mentioned.
