Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

@Tyres O'Flaherty Ever since you mentioned how you got that big reward from an on-foot CZ the other week, in which that bug cropped up causing all the NPCs on both sides to just stand around like statues, I've been waiting for another one of those to crop up for me, so I could stay as hidden as possible and try out that sniping tactic of yours. Anyway, one did appear today, so I brought out my Manticore Executioner and had a go myself:

It took a few hours in all (quite a bit of which was when I took a break to have some dinner, leaving my commander inside a building while I did so. :p ) But once I got up to speed it was quicker. Anyway, at the end it wasn't a bad result really.

They still make a great motorcycle. Always have.
They should have stuck to motorcycles, maybe that's not fair, it was British Leyland's failure after Triumph was subsumed into it. BL never really made the most of Giovanni Michelotti's talent in my view and then managed to squeeze the car brand from a genuine BMW competitor to eventual buy out by them.

Motorcycles though, absolutely. My grandfather was an engineer and was a huge fan but the current company bought the rights to both the name and manufacturing from the Receivers back in the 80s' and the owner/CEO (I'm not sure of his actual status) stumped up some serious finance and proved to be a very good business person - shame that wasn't the case for the cars too.

Anyway, I'm blethering on about my sadness with Triumph ( I owned a Vitesse, Spitfire and GT6 Coupe at times during 6th form and loved them dearly ) and not ED. So I'll shut up:)

Good morning all, son's birthday on Saturday and mine yesterday meant no gaming/computer time so am behind. I won't derail the thread further with talk of computers or cars, although loved all the posts (and The Professionals, and noticed that Emma Peel's Triumph used to switch between brown and yellow in The Avengers depending on which one Triumph sent over - continuity - what's that?!) so won't reply to them all as it's now historic but suffice to say that I am very grateful for the various bits of advice and input, all extremely welcome. I have ordered the Acer laptop and my carrier is four days from decommissioning, at which point I'll negotiate the choppy waters of an account port.

Thanks again, all.

Impressive!

Having picked up some, hopefully, high value items mining I am now back to exploring and surveying.
Not found anything spectacular as yet but I have decided that the bios are conspiring against me. Every time I find something fairly worth hunting down it will show up as a single examples kilometres apart until either the third sample or when on the way to find the first example of the next bio on the list when the formally scarce thing will show up in a field big enough to collect all the samples from.

I think you mean Purdey rather than Emma Peel, Purdey drove a TR7 while Steed mostly drove a customised Jaguar. Emma Peel drove Lotus Elans with Steed in a Bentley or Rolls Royce.

And, of course, Purdey was a member of The New Avengers. I don't think nI ever saw the original series. And anyway, Joanna Lumley was much better in Sapphire and Steel :D
Almost no one remembers the Original series, the furthest back they go is usually the second series with Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale, then there were the series with Diana Rigg as Emma Peel, followed by The Avengers in colour with Linda Thorson as Tara King.

Steeds original partner was played by Ian Hendry and the series was much more about avenging.

Thanks! I just did another one in the same settlement. NPCs all standing around again shouting "Throw a grenade!" and "Fire in the hold!" :ROFLMAO:

As It was the same settlement again I'm pretty familiar now with where all the ammo boxes, medkits and suit charging sockets are, which helps.

I competed it quite a bit quicker this time now I've had practice. "Only" got 24 million odd CR this time but that might have been because NPC reinforcements were sometimes spawning close to enemies and shooting them before I got there...

I guess there's a chance FDev will fix this bug in the update they said is coming soon but whatever - we'll see...

Congrats on the promotion. (y)

Aye, the executioner is my weapon of choice in the frozen NPC CZs. Quite easy to just pick them off - like shooting fish in a barrel! You need to watch out for NPCs who also have executioners and I try to hide as much as I can and peep round so just a bit of the enemy is visible, but still just enough to cause damage and then kill.

You can also shoot from quite a distance away, beyond the range of the grenades they tend to throw at you.

Thank you - it happened almost accidentally while i was picking off frozen targets, but i guess that is another rung on the ladder done now :)

...yep they can still snipe & tend to throw quite a few grenades if you get in range :D

I suppose if you have a known frozen NPC CZ, an L-6 would be a mighty fine tool.
Aye, I have an L-6 that I use in the standard non-frozen CZs and it's a great weapon imo - much prefer it to the executioner. I prefer the executioner for the frozen ones though as the magazine holds lots more (at least, it does in my case with my G3 one. Maybe a fully upgraded L-6 with all the mods holds quite a bit more and I'd imagine you have one of those. ;) )

Think I'll take a break from this CG. It's a bit too grindy on the CZ front and, given there's only one high CZ in the system anyway, there's not a lot of variety! Lows and mediums don't provide enough of a challenge and they pay relatively little.

Might do some power-ons and scav takedowns instead.
So you haven't been playing in open then...other commanders, on either side, in the foot CZs makes for a nice change...
