Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

There was also this... it seems to be calling "come closer, take a peek inside..."

This necro thread just popped up and made me laugh. May it brighten your day too.

So many years of people thinking Esc pauses the game...too funny.

That is a very old thread indeed! :D

That has never occurred to me...
I guess I have been playing MMOs for too long to think about a pause option in a game that requires you to be online...
Especially in one where the world around you changes while you're offline...

Oh, while I think of it...

Today is bind backup day. Whilst it hasn't been a problem for quite a while, it's still a good precaution to take. Also, any HUD colour MODS or suchlike may have to be rebuilt after tomorrow.

Here's hoping for only Good Things.

See you on the other side CMDR's!

Ah yep good point - must remember the usual pre-upgrade prep… making several copies of my binds, including 3 off-site backups and an extra copy at the attorneys’ office, just to be safe… ;]

I'm working on building one of these:

(minus the Meta Alloy Hull Reinforcements)
I skimmed a few parts of it and don't get the point of the expensive reactive armour. You can get the same hull points from cheaper military grade armour.

I love my Clipper build for farming materials and caustic tissue samples in Maetroms. Fast, cold and that 7C universal limpet controller means you can do anything you want in their. Repair limpets are great for extending your time a bit more.
This is the one time I've used clean drive tuning. It keeps well below 20% heat whatever manoeuvres you do unless you hit boost. If you went with dirty drives it would outrun a Phantom.

It was to add Explosive Resistance as the caustic generators cause it when...well...exploding...apparently.

I don't have access to a clipper... 😢

Well there is no harm in Reactive Armour for a chance at explosive resistance if you have the credits. I've watched more closely. This video is 3 months old. His whole strategy for resisting the Maelstrom pulse will probably be obsolete when the new module is available. I'd wait before engineering the power distributor as there is probably no other use case for s systems enhanced power distributor. I'd also go for a 6A or 7A power plant with grade 5 low emissions to get the heat down and stay cooler for longer.
I think the Phantom is a good alternative to the Clipper, but the Clipper and Krait MKII have better or good enough speed (Krait) and can have more hull strength than the Phantom. I also looked at the Federal Dropship in the role as the internal space is good and the hull insanely strong. But it's a bit slow. If the Clipper has a weakness its the 6A power distributor. We'll see what the new Maelstrom pulse neutraliser demands. Sometimes you have to work hard to avoid using the Krait MKII for yet another role :ROFLMAO:

At the time of the video he did not have access to a Caustic Sink Launcher. I'd recommend getting one as a matter of priority as it easily multiplies the time you can spend in the Maelstrom by a factor of perhaps 4 or 5. You can do the heatsink extra ammo engineering mod to it.

Someone also did the maths on Meta Alloy Hull Reinforcements. It's better to have a stack of human hull reinforcements grade 5 heavy duty deep plate. I noticed in the video comments people find the Guardian Hull Reinforcements don't degrade in the Maelstrom. They are not a bad alternative to human hull reinforcements when you need caustic resistance.

Repair limpets - I'd agree with him that class 3 and 5 repair limpets are not as good as having more hull to start with, but the class 7 repair limpets combined with Caustic Sink Launcher are amazing, but you need the Clipper for that.

Anyway, this is my take on staying in the Maelstrom, and I've farmed 20 caustic tissues samples up to now using the Krait MKII for the first 5 and the Clipper for the rest.

Thanks for the input...I do have a few guardian HRP/MRP which I am going to use...

a) I don't have ANY maelstrom materials yet...

b) If I get bogged down in all the details, I'll never build anything because I'll still be analyzing it 6 months from now... (I know me...)

c) This was the very first Maelstrom build I've looked at, I'm familiar with the Phantom AND I started building/engineering it before I had even watched the whole video, which in hindsight was not the best idea...

d) I'm behind the curve at this point because I didn't see anything interesting in the game play until recent revelations about U15, so now I'm in panic mode... 😄

e) This will be an interesting adventure...one way or another...
