Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Unless there is another one waiting for me that came out yesterday.

I was reading over in News that Glaives were doing Inter/Hyperdictions nd can keep up with ships boosting to 570 which would be an issue for most ships.
If they hit you with lightning you get random module outages which can be your thrusters or FSD. The do go down with a good dose of Enhanced AX MC fire thought.

So this time I watched the updater do the thing using Windows Resource Monitor.
I'll tell ya why it's slow - it attempts to read in the content of every file it is intending to update all at once - not eight at a time or sixteen at a time or any other thread-friendly number at a time.
Could it be windows defender doing this? At least that was my impression and updates speeded up once I excluded the Elite program files directory from defender.

If ya haven't seen it, there's some amazing camera work on this video. I really don't know how they got some of those shots.

PS. I didn't know Thargoids had exploding poop.
What a fantastic video! Great find!

I don't know how they did that either - must've been a mutliple man job, one doing the fighting and others doing the camera work.

What it does highlight is that, the more drones you kill, the more get spawned. Hmm.

Other way around I think - it's poor behaviour from the updater, but it's exacerbated by Defender because that has to interpose before every request to open a file. So if it asks for all the files at once, that's a big ol' spike for Defender to deal with AND Defender will see those files are new and have to deal with the newness rather than just "yes seen that one before, I trust it"

Right. The long range rifle isn't the best weapon in a high CZ (unless you're a demon at hitting moving targets).

I think... the best guns to have (and this needs a bit more experimentation to be sure) are those with headshot damage for quick takedowns. Of course, it's purely situational and very much depends on the layout of the zone you're in.

There's one type that's a military style base and checkpoint Charlie is always uncontested. It has a suit power charger pole right next to it and an ammo bos very close too. You can stand on the roof of the building and snipe like your name is Animal Mother.

What you need to do is get the targets to move in a different direction.

For example if they all ran straight towards you that should simplify things for you in terms of where to aim.
(There might be some other issues with this but nothing that some good close quarter weapons could handle.)
