Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

And in true FDev style, the maintenance warning has gone from the launcher, so you attempt a launch, and get the maintenance screen...

(And "Manage" says no update available anyway)

A Steam restart (1244 GMT/UT/London) brought in an update via Steam directly - not via the Launcher! Now it loads but complains about the servers. Nice to see Steam is handling the updates now though.

I tend to come in at around 50 degrees and aim a little above the settlement. Think it depends slightly on ship and the gravity of the planet, but it's more than possible to go into glide at say 50km and come out of glide just a few km over a settlement. If quick enough with asking landing permission you can even bypass the hello message and go directly to the docking one. Think I've also surprised a few seal clubbers coming into Deciat.. :)

Did a few courier missions today. One was a planetary base. First time landing without the help of the ADC...
After touchdown I sat there wondering of what I had been so afraid, regarding landing on a planetary station...
Below about 2g there is nothing much to worry about, things can get exciting above 2g as accelerating in the direction the ship is trying to fall can lead to some very rough landings.

The docking computer can be very good at keeping things in control in that situation even in a heavy underpowered ship, having Flight Assist on a hold button to turn off can work if you just tap the button to let the ship start to fall.
