Coming down for a landing looking for fungi.
Had a similar experience about the same period of time, last year when I started Odyssey, looking for them on steep mountains during night. I sent back the ship, but she wouldn't come back because of the landscape a moment later since I was climbing and climbing. My SRV was already pretty damaged, fuel was running low, it was an endless descent, I was hopping not to fall from these edges you spot at the last time, until I could reach the ship. Of course I didn't knew then I could synthetize repairs and fuel from the SRV right panel.Lately it seems that those fungoida that i meet are less picky and accept to settle on small plateaus or close enough while being visible, so relatively easy to reach places. But i remember like a year ago i was struggling landing my bio-specced Sidewinder in the mountains they've chosen to grow in (therefore realising that even in Sidewinder you may need an SRV), then driving in SRV, then walking on foot as it became much more vertical - i can't remember for sure, but i think that time i've used two spare batteries, and also nightvision (sunset + shadow of those mountains). It actually helped, but it was a long walk. Maybe it's just lazyness, you don't accept that take off + landing elsewere is faster, as you always believe that the fungoida is just at the other side of the cliff...

When will the new season begin?Putting the finishing touches to my latest acquisition, for the first race of the the upcoming Buckyball season. I haven't flown a Sidewinder for years!
This weekendWhen will the new season begin?
That's unfortunate. See above to know why. This weekend
Community Event / Creation - The Sidewinder Trophy
Welcome to The Sidewinder Trophy This race is to celebrate the ship we all began with, the Sidewinder. A small cheap ship with limited ability? Not so! It can be a devastating little racer if flown with abandon and a few tweaks. Time to give it some love! Build Rules & Ships...forums.frontier.co.uk
Haha! Strange, but I've never been attacked by one. They just kind of lay there. I suppose they are simply in awe when they see me.Later, I found a planet tha almost felt like it could be the home planet of Codger's Rocks...
While I was checking the surroundings, right after I had jumped out of my SRV, one of them struck. I was able to jump aside, but my buggy was not as lucky:
I had packed some for this trip, too. And I was glad I did when the Star Moth booped her nose on a planet surface at 20 m/s because of me dozing off at the stick on final approach...Slammed my ship into the side of a mountain, not a single module was damaged, good I've got hull repair limpets, dang high-g planets.
I've had quite a few new to me discoveries so far, but that one still is on my bucket list...Recepta Umbrex.
Don't think they're NPC, but is this what you are thinking of?Did I catch that right that there are some NPC carriers out there? How do I find those?
Looks like you've found high intensity CZs to watch for, then!Just read @Paul_Crowther 's post on upcoming stuff. Interesting times ahead!
It's back to ship-shape, the collision took out my shields and knocked the hull down to 84%, it used 2 limpets to get it back to 100%. I think there are stray carriers out there that would allow others to land, but the DSSA network is your best bet, here's an interactive map that shows their locations.
