Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

The second new ship of the four is becoming available fror credits next week with the third available for Arx PP2, probably not my thing, due the same day.
The fourth ship and the new feature thingy still to be revealed.

There has also been the Super Cruise Overdrive FSDs which can be great fun for hands on flight.

I think it is the most active game development has been since the T war.

Meanwhile so many long-standing bugs just remain in place, with no hope for fixes and no discussion from Frontier.
Some bugs are buried so deep in the code that it may require a complete rewriting of the game code to fix them.
Or are simply so random in their appearance that they can't be reliably recreated, which hampers the ability to pinpoint the part of the code that causes the issue.
And some are caused by outside sources that the devs don't have much influence on.

Hi :)

Since Frontier announced this new update naming system I've thought that perhaps this wasn't the best idea, reason?...it's far easier to have a numerical system, numbering has an infinite methodology whereas naming them can become complicated. Basically I mean they have got to think of an appropriate name for each major update.
I presume smaller intermediate updates will still stick to the numbering system?
For example:- 'Ascendancy 1.0 update, Ascendancy 1.1 - 1.2 etc.
Then the next 'major' update would be something like... 🤔..*.'Earth Like Worlds' 1.1 add infinitum! 😉 😂

Back to topic.....I'm just pootling around in the bubble, selling, trading, doing missions etc. presently. I might nip out now and again, but not very far, I'm going to buy the T8 (credits) plus the Mandalay (Arx) hopefully next week, kit them out, try 'em then head out somewhere again....unless this new feature shows up, depends what it is.
*One must never lose hope!

Jack :)
They are still using the numerical system, that is not going away, but they are also associating a name to the update.
If you want to check patch notes, or refer to specific changes, the numerical system helps localising the information but, if I need to refer to something added to the game in normal conversation, I'd rather say "remember the Type 8 patch" or "yes, that happened with Ascendancy", much more to the point than update 1.Whatever, if I'm talking to a friend.

CMDRs...

I am puzzled. I'll hang this here first.

In the shot below, I have 40 XDP's currently listed as "on the carrier" as it were. However, I want to transfer them back (don't ask, I did a silly thing) to my backpack. However, it won't let me do so - pressing the left arrow doesn't move them. I have the necessary space and they are not listed for sale on the bartender.

I've also tried logging.

Help would be appreciated!

I'm still salty about the length of the Thargoid focus, and the introduction of ships via real-life money, the SCO drives making all other obsolete, and etc. Meanwhile so many long-standing bugs just remain in place, with no hope for fixes and no discussion from Frontier.
...
Honestly I haven't logged in much lately. I'm out in the black and will probably just stay there until one day I suddenly get the urge to play again.

I loaded EDDiscovery today and it took an age to go through the "downloading systems" routine. On checking, apart from one week last month slogging a legacy FC back to the the bubble, selling all the trit and uninstalling the services ready to decamp my ships and decommission the carrier I had not loaded any of my accounts in over three months. They really REALLY urined-me-off with the ARX store debacle and then introducing the paid early access.

I played this game almost daily for 9 years and they destroyed my attachment to it almost overnight.

(I have not even found the will to actually load the game to finish-off that legacy FC disembark and decommission.)

Yeah, the names are meaningless and will be difficult/impossible to remember what was what, and when. Oh well.

The game is so clearly on the dev's back burner nowadays. And I'm old and jaded, I suppose :)

I agree with Thargoid focus' length. Alright, there should be Thargoids and wars and stuff but not to the dereliction to other parts of the game.

As for the SCO, well, I still use the olde skool ones as I've never felt the need for the go-faster stripes.

I did buy a pre-built Python II with cash but I won't be doing that again. Not so much the fact that's it's "real' money, but because FDev won't allow PayPal. Just my thing.

I think this is a long standing bug.. It won't let you transfer to the backpack when you have 0 in the backpack. :(

If you get one more, or if you buy one from the bartender so that you have one in the backpack then it'll work.

I don't think the payment processor for FDev stores the data though, unless you choose to save the payment method. My browser manages my payment details, so tbf, I'm not totally sure.
I always say no to password saves in browsers when it comes to my payment details. I use Firefox with a plethora of blockers and such, and also DuckDuckGo - which is still in beta but is pretty good. I use DDG on my phone too, with the app tracker blocker on - it's amazing how many apps try to track you. Actually, no, it's quick worrying last count was 4,150 tracking attempts.

Back on track... I'm having a run of bad luck trying to find high on foot CZ's. The past three systems with conflict zones have only had low and medium ones

They have to store the data for a certain amount of time, due to legal reasons.
Your browser has those details stored locally, just like your passwords. It just copy/pastes them into the form on checkout.

Same here.
I have two reasons why I prefer this way:
  1. I don't own a credit card and prepaid CCs don't seem to exist in my country;
  2. There seems to be a possible upgrade to my debit card, but I don't like to put access to my current account into the hands of some payment processor I don't know.

Wow! This must be one of those exotic bugs that happen when new, unrelated features are introduced!
Wouldn't be surprised if the root cause of this was the introduction of a new paintjob for the Asp Scout

I'm the same as you in respect of the Thargoid wars, don't really know why......I generally like to do 'my own thing' in the game, and I find that I can do that. If I get bored with exploration I go back to my 'home system' and do some trade missions, or explore systems within the bubble, sometimes something will grab my interest that has been mentioned about the game on the forums, and I'll investigate. I've mentioned this somewhere already I think in this topic, I participated in the Ruby celebration / get together at Lave and I found I quite liked that. No griefers about fortunately to spoil the experience. (I don't usually go into open much).
I might go and search for the voyager probes maybe in the next few weeks. I found one of them (is there 2?) way way back, but I've forgotten how I did it now

I'm building up another AMD based system at the moment, I've got most of the parts, just 32 gigs of DDR 5 6000hz Ram to get and another copy of windows 11 this time round.
I built up the exact same specs computer (apart from the case and Gpu) for my son / grandsons and everything worked fine, easy build, no real hiccups installing hardware OS etc.... but I transferred my one of my two registered copies to that one (Win 10) and got the free upgrade to win 11 after installing the OS.
So now I've got to get a retail copy of win 11 as the other retail copy's key is used on my other (intel based computer) build. In actual fact I've just stripped out my old Haf X case this week ready to take the new hardware...ye gods! the dust ...I'll have to take it outside and give it a good blow out / clean at some point this week. I'll be changing all the fans for new ones (I've already got those). I've also got all the old hardware to get rid of, all stuff still working fine but way way out of date. I've salvaged a 1TB ssd drive though plus a.500 GB 3.5" wd drive...🤔...they can be used for storage as I'll be using a WD 1tb 850x H/sink m2 drive for this build (same as the one I fitted in my sons comp.)

When I play the game I'm usually looking in on the forums or looking at online comp. hardware stuff generally at the same time , or have been the last month or so, because of the new build. The new ships has kept my interest going as well as this infuriating 'new feature' ! 😅... but I know what you mean about getting 'jaded', perhaps it's one of the 'joys' of getting older. 🧙‍♂️

... I'm rambling (another sign) so i'll get back to the game! :D

Jack :)

Erk. It seems my account with Imgur has gone up the Swanny. It wants to send a verification email - however, I signed up years go with an address that no longer exists (different ISP). And now, to sign up as a new user, it wants a phone number. Nope, not doing that. I'll have to find another storage site.

Anyway, this is Screaming Doctor Berserk.

According to the ship stats, it should boost to 932. But I've just given him a run out and he's only hitting around 880. I need to get under the hood.
