Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Ah ha! This is my mistake when using the SCO. I haven't been saying "wheeee!". That explains the problem, thanks!
Out exploring they are handy for escaping from planets and them long runs out to interesting planets orbiting distant stars, but watch your fuel, my Asp has left me sweating a couple of times, have not yet had to call in my carrier but have had to find a nearby system with a scoopable star.

Oh, this was a good score:

Misjudged my SCO and very very nearly had to call the Fuel Rats 😹

Had about 30% in the reserve tank by the time I got to the star 🙀

Meanwhile, got a bit of a Phantom Menace vibe from my shiny paintjob while rescuing refugees...

Noticed that surface scans generate quite a lot of merits, even from bodies in the bubble, so I'm now detouring when there's an interesting opportunity nearby.

And by pure chance dropped in on some fancy flowers on a planet I didn't realise had a biosign. I just felt like landing somewhere. Sometimes you have to let the force guide you 😸

And yes I burned some Arx on this suit while it was on sale 😹

Also I wasted a ton of time fetching a rare commodity with a name that will be an in-joke to about 3 people, only to find it is illegal in the system my PP2 orders want me to sell rare goods in, so I had to go take them somewhere else and get replacements. On the whole, today was not at all efficient.

Set out trying to accomplish my last weekly PP2 goal of some data from acquisition systems.

First off, I wanted something a bit more nimble than a Python and busted out my Courier instead. Turned out it was only half way engineered, so I swapped a lot of things for a lightweight build and she'll jump 40ly and boost over 600m/s. Not a bad getaway vehicle.

After getting spotted pilfering several times and having to do a runner, I got bored of this and figured I'd take a fallback option; actually start suit engineering. Maybe, long term, I can get jumpier and sneakier and have more suit power, and these missions will go better.

As luck would have it, I ran into a string of abandoned anarchy settlements.

Looted anything that wasn't nailed down. None of it is what I need for the engineer unlock, but I guess it doesn't hurt to fill my pockets for later. Odd that these plants have been totally fine in the dark though.

I'm not sure whether this time was well-used or not.

Mostly this was just slow paced and rather dull gameplay rather than annoying, but one particularly egregious moment came from an abandoned settlement with some pirates. Managed to mow them down with my SRV, looted one building, parked up and went to make a cuppa. Naturally this was exactly when more pirates chose to spawn and I got back to the keyboard at 8% hull. Then exploded. Sigh.

Nothing particularly lost from that one, but it is irritating that after 10 mins of creeping around undisturbed, the game seemed to have been lying in wait for me to not pay attention.

Not really sure how to progress this goal now. 4 settlements have not had the commodity I need. Starting to feel silly to keep trying. FC Bartenders do not work, so I can't buy it either. At this point, I'm considering going to Colonia to get the engineers there...

Awesome, thank ye muchly! :)

i will check these out when i'm closer to Sol... and recovered from neutron-hopping fatigue... i'm inching across the map - only about 15KLY to go... ;p

Hmm... lots of red flags on the map... oO

Look at them even nestled up thar oh no don't eat Duamta!

The red spider flags are thick and nearby where I faithfully delivered my navy 63T of Tea. It earned me another promotion but it seemed cooler being a knight than now a recruit. The Navy filmed the whole sordid tale, which is kind of a tragedy.
So anyway even while all this alien-shooting and citizen life threat is going on, the Navy will be drinking tea right on schedule, and that made me their new recruit

IT has been some time since I last posted here.
I'm still playing Elite Dangerous several times a week, just not as often as I used to.
Power Play 2.0 has really stirred things up in the world of player faction support, as we know have Power Play 2.0 activities disrupting influence levels in systems and it causes work, work, work for those of us trying to keep our factions at 50%+ in the systems we control.
Quain is having to leave that to the will of the Power Play gods, because Sol is under attack!

It's time to bite the bullet and "invest" a few hours grinding materials for that anti Guardian weapon field protection thingy Ram Tah can do to stop your Guardian modules melting when Glaives are near or your attacking the Titan. I want to be ready to hit the Titan Thermal Core with shard cannons this time.
I've just called in to see Ram Tah and ...

Yeah, I have pre-engineered "mod shard cannons".
I sold off all my original Shard cannons to save on module storage space. And it takes hours to "grind" materials for more shard cannons.
Sometimes FDev really screws over its players

After going through several empty abandoned settlements with zero loot, I finally found a reddit post suggesting reactivation missions. Ok, well, I was already in an anarchy system, and as luck would have it there was a reactivation available on the next moon over.

Going in I really wasn't sure whether to expect pirates or not; hence actually taking a weapon. With the runaround I've been getting the last few days I've lucked out on a G3 maverick suit, and some kind of G3 guns (idk what they are).

As it happens, this mission never threw pirates at me. Entirely peaceful run from start to finish; although it was a bit of a maze and it took about an hour to feel satisfied I had acquired everything of value.

End result; a lot of assets, misc goods, and 5x Push to take to Domino Green. Time to start learning how to upgrade my suits! 😸

Also I keep getting rewarded for all those refugee runs I was doing at the start of the week... it's interesting that the game is apparently tracking some kind of contribution tiers but doesn't show them at all 🤔

Tonight, I've been playing Elite: Housework, i.e. looking at the systems the factions I support are present in, dusting their tables and watering their houseplants. In other words making sure everything is spick and span. We can't have Speakers Fleming or Garrison finding dust now, can we? They might send me to space gulag.

Then I found out about that one system with like 40 population being in civil unrest. Those pesky protesters had made quite the mess, I can tell you. Cue panicked tidying and desperate phone calls like that old Yellow Pages advert...
