🌟 Finally!!! 🌟

After going through several empty abandoned settlements with zero loot, I finally found a reddit post suggesting reactivation missions. Ok, well, I was already in an anarchy system, and as luck would have it there was a reactivation available on the next moon over.

Going in I really wasn't sure whether to expect pirates or not; hence actually taking a weapon. With the runaround I've been getting the last few days I've lucked out on a G3 maverick suit, and some kind of G3 guns (idk what they are).

As it happens, this mission never threw pirates at me. Entirely peaceful run from start to finish; although it was a bit of a maze and it took about an hour to feel satisfied I had acquired everything of value.

End result; a lot of assets, misc goods, and 5x Push to take to Domino Green. Time to start learning how to upgrade my suits! 😸

Also I keep getting rewarded for all those refugee runs I was doing at the start of the week... it's interesting that the game is apparently tracking some kind of contribution tiers but doesn't show them at all 🤔

Brilliant. Am on a similar pushquest myself at the moment. Can do a HGCZ with my standard G3 gear but engineering would make it a lot more comfortable.

Know what you mean about the tier tracking for anti-Thargoid contributions. I have done a fair bit of combat around Sol (the more so when I realised that a 40m payout for one kill was possible - made a fortune lol) but was not aware that it was being tracked. Then got a similar message about rewards for a string of (now) safe sectors. Nice, and felt realistic for it simply organically to happen.

Made it back to the bubble at last!

Jumped my carrier out a bit to meet me ...and it did park somewhere a bit uhmm awkward? ;p

*the lack of neutron exclusion zone marker also made that landing (after a about 70 neutron hops back from the Canonn Complex, 12KLY away in Prua Phoe) a bit extra hair-raising :D

Defending SOL is a one-time opportunity, unlikely to occur again in the game I figure.

So, despite my general dislike for Titan diving, I dragged out my Clipper, which I previously outfitted specifically for visiting Titans. It's been literally years now I haven't flown it. It's just been sitting gathering dust.

I double-checked the outfitting and it looked OK. The ship is fast and runs cool, and I hoped I'd be able to make it to the Titan and do at least a little damage to it, so I could get the notch in my belt and some minor bragging rights :)

I went first in the Mobius group, because I heard there were a lot of gankers making things hard. I managed to get to the Titan on my first try. Sometimes I amaze myself, haha.

But there were too few people and I couldn't quite get the thermal core to appear for me. (You have to shoot the heat vents first, with a torpedo).

So I messed around trying things and managed to wake up the Titan's turrets, which killed me.

For attempt number 2 I went in Open. It was clear I'd need the help of other CMDRs to get that thermal core exposed.

I did not get ganked, and I made it to the Titan ok. Sure enough, after a bit of flying about, the Thermal Core was exposed and I managed to do some damage, thus ensuring that my name will go down in history (or something).

I'd tell my wife about it but I'd only get a blank look, so...I'm telling you guys instead. :p

And that's it for me. It's much too nerve-wracking.

Instead I'm going to buy a Cobra MKV and play with that :)

Nice. Just like you, I'm gonna give it a try to at least get a few hits in for the histories. It's arguably the most important Titan so far and it'll complete my beginner trio of AX rescue and combat.

Plus I already have a partially engineered Krait. All I have to do is swap a few weapons/utilities around in Luyten.

Let the kamikaze mission commence!

So I heard the bugs don't know about Christmas...

Time to bring some cheer.

Always wanted a Krait MK2 but couldn't find a reason to own one before. Happy to report that all those materials I've been earning from evac missions have engineered the Argent Defender as far as she will go.

(I have never done AX combat, but I want those FSD rewards you get for landing a hit on the titan. This bird is running about 18% heat without turning off the FSD, and packs the essentials. Plus some chunky AX multicannons, a torpedo pylon, and a heat vent beam laser. Hopefully Cocomojo won't die before I can get there on... sunday. And I can survive long enough to deliver a single good willy-slap before it shuts down forever.)

((I have no idea where I got this paint job.))

So I had to end its suffering:

I sort of hate that handheld weapons do any damage at all to ships 😹

Yes! I finally got through after two rebuys but I know some of what I was doing wrong. I was more slowly working my way through while being weary of threats instead of just gunning it and avoiding further caustic damage. Plus I found it tricky to time the pulse neutraliser and kept being kicked out. I think that may have taken me four attempts.

I botched the first attempt at the core and only went for three vents next time before getting enough missiles in for 2.6M cred!

That was definitely the most challenging part of Thargoid play so far but it was sometimes purdy and the challenge made it satisfying. The Krait wants his decal!
