Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

A new anomaly.

The enemy drop ship got stuck:

So I had to end its suffering:

I thought those NPC Vultures ran bi-weaves, nice shooting with your handy-dandy rifle, I should mount a couple of those on my hardpoints. :)

I really like my new Cobra MKV. It flies sooo nice. The cockpit view is amazing.

It's very fast, too. And the SCO boost is actually controllable.

I have done some engineering on it, after replacing all the modules it came with. I'm not about to spend time engineering those weird modules, because they can't be stored or transferred to another ship. So I just got rid of them all, and now I'm engineering the normal modules.

I tried landing on a planet and it was dead easy. It has a small footprint, and there's a good bit of room underneath. I think the SRV should be OK.

You disembark under the ship, facing forward, which is very nice. The steps actually look to scale as well.

Aaand it looks wicked in black.

It has less jump range than my DBX (so far I have 53.97, with no D rated stuffs), but it scoops fast and zooms across the landscapes. Downward visibility is excellent. It's going to be a very nice Exobiology ship, I think.

Interesting! Thanks!

Is this now 40 or 41 ships we have?

It does look good for exo purposes but it may also be a candidate for ground mission running as an alternative to the Viper IV...

But I may wait for it to be available for credit purchase rather than ARX.

Must have been about two weeks ago, I think.
Yep, it was around then that I got mine at Jaques Station in Colonia...

Only 30bn? I'll just sell off my stratum tectonicus profits and it'll be all good then :D

Total bargain.
Fortunately i got a bargain - it was a mere 37.5m there! ;)

...though the costs of having it transferred back to the bubble, first from Colonia to Canonn, then to the edge of the bubble where my carrier is parked, were rather steep - and it's still in transit :D

So I heard the bugs don't know about Christmas...

Time to bring some cheer.

Always wanted a Krait MK2 but couldn't find a reason to own one before. Happy to report that all those materials I've been earning from evac missions have engineered the Argent Defender as far as she will go.

(I have never done AX combat, but I want those FSD rewards you get for landing a hit on the titan. This bird is running about 18% heat without turning off the FSD, and packs the essentials. Plus some chunky AX multicannons, a torpedo pylon, and a heat vent beam laser. Hopefully Cocomojo won't die before I can get there on... sunday. And I can survive long enough to deliver a single good willy-slap before it shuts down forever.)

((I have no idea where I got this paint job.))
It was awarded for a Christmas? event in association with a charity a few years ago IIRC which I probably don’t.
I sort of hate that handheld weapons do any damage at all to ships 😹

Just got allied with a minor faction. Guess the name :D

Well from the song title and lyrics that popped to mind two names suggested themselves so maybe the less obvious one.

The Golden Girls.

That's cool for my OCD. There are so many times I've gone through the trouble of lining up the MkIII in exactly the direction I want to travel in my SRV but forgot the exact heading. Now I have to start backwards and either take a rough guess or do the mathematics in my head, which I don't like doing.

And I did wonder if they've taken the opportunity to get the new ship scales spot on this time.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like the vertical thrust is really good on the Type 8. There was one time I misjudged a planet's gravity and thought for certain that I was gonna smash into a landing pad with no shields, but it instead came to an abrupt stop like a UFO or something.

Defending SOL is a one-time opportunity, unlikely to occur again in the game I figure.

So, despite my general dislike for Titan diving, I dragged out my Clipper, which I previously outfitted specifically for visiting Titans. It's been literally years now I haven't flown it. It's just been sitting gathering dust.

I double-checked the outfitting and it looked OK. The ship is fast and runs cool, and I hoped I'd be able to make it to the Titan and do at least a little damage to it, so I could get the notch in my belt and some minor bragging rights :)

I went first in the Mobius group, because I heard there were a lot of gankers making things hard. I managed to get to the Titan on my first try. Sometimes I amaze myself, haha.

But there were too few people and I couldn't quite get the thermal core to appear for me. (You have to shoot the heat vents first, with a torpedo).

So I messed around trying things and managed to wake up the Titan's turrets, which killed me.

For attempt number 2 I went in Open. It was clear I'd need the help of other CMDRs to get that thermal core exposed.

I did not get ganked, and I made it to the Titan ok. Sure enough, after a bit of flying about, the Thermal Core was exposed and I managed to do some damage, thus ensuring that my name will go down in history (or something).

I'd tell my wife about it but I'd only get a blank look, so...I'm telling you guys instead. :p

And that's it for me. It's much too nerve-wracking.

Instead I'm going to buy a Cobra MKV and play with that :)
I only started doing AX when those creepy s invaded Sol. I did my first run at the titan last night and it was a learning experience for sure. I did manage to hit the core three times with the help of others. I'm a solo player playing in open... :O

Today I've been mostly engineering.

I decided I wanted to max out my Cobra Mk. V for multirole with a combat emphasis. As I was doing the multicannons, I thought that I'd quite like to have some dumbfires for committing war crimes doing ground CZs.

Unfortunately, the power demands with the 3rd hardpoint were somewhat beyond what the G4 armoured/monstered power plant could do, so I had to unlock Hera Tani. This involved also unlocking Liz Ryder, which was the point anyway. I've also now got the invite from Broo Tarquin, so will put the final two grades on my long range beam lasers.

The rare goods unlock requirements are pretty annoying, but I suppose I do only have to unlock them all once.

I am taking part in the takedown of the Titan in Sol, this automatically made me part of the CG with the same objective which is offering a minimum of 20,000,000 credits for the two hearts destroyed, it is unclear yet if it is going up in 10,000,000 per heart or doubling, plus if the Titan is destroyed in time a set of double engineered SCO FSDs with no lock on the experimental effects.

For the CG side of things your contribution is based solely on damage you do to the Titan.
