Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

There seem to be a LOT of newcomers lately. Reddit is chock-full of newbies asking the usual questions and being happy because they made a million credits and etc. It's kind of heartwarming to an oldster like me.

But why are they joining now? The Thargoid extravaganza is over. Maybe the death of the last Titan made the news and clued in all these people about the game?

Colonization isn't coming until at least late Feb, probably later.

It just seems odd to me that we're getting this influx of people when nothing in particular is actually happening in the game.

I can only guess it's colonisation and folk want a head start before it comes along.

But I, like you, think it's always great to hear newcomers are joining. That can only be good for the game.

Inertia, stuff has been happening recently which has been heard about so some returnees showed up which would have also been heard of so because of that higher profile genuine newbies show up.

I think it was free on Epic for a while, which has the obvious effect but in this case I think there's probably a force multiplier too: the community of people who might have seen that and jumped in is quite different to the community of people who hang around on Steam looking for moar space games. So it would show this effect even more than an influx from a Steam discount would do.

These little gals are so cute :)

Actually, I wanted to ask: In EDCopilot, how are voices implemented? Does it use standard Windows TTS or are they more bespoke like Elite Observatory has/had?
There are many ways you can get your voices. Windows Edge TTS is standard, but you can get many more from cloud TTS providers (Amazon, Google, Azure, EventLabs).
EDCP also has Voice Attack integration. But I think you can find much more information about EDCP in their discord.

I think it is just over 100, I know the ship version is 200, but I haven’t used the SRV for Exo in ages.
I think it is about the same as on the ship.
But why are they joining now?
One of those christmas miracles, I guess.
license fees for those being mentioned
Yeah, they mention that most cloud TTS providers would like to have some money thrown in their general direction as a compensation for their services.

OK, it's time, I am going to fly to "see the whole hemisphere" height and try the other side of the planet because this ain't it for Vesicula. And Vesicula has now been added to my list of bacteria I am definitely only doing once ever!
Walked the whole length of the valley to find this one. Which means, presumably, I need two more valleys. And yes there are a lot of grey patches in the mid and background which... aren't it. PING!
