Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

The diversity distance requirement can be helped by using Elite Observatory or EDEB. I'm using the latter currently.

It's useful to be audibly informed when travelled a sufficient distance to allow the next scan.
I've just started using ED Copilot for the first time this week. The spoken advice when you have traveled far enough to look for another colony to scan is great. Hearing the same 5 bad space jokes on repeat is not so great 🤣

Am I the only one that gets really annoyed at the new system info page on the nav panel? It messes with my muscle memory when going to ask for docking permission. Honestly, years and years of one "click left" is suddenly messed up, I get annoyed at it every single time.
My annoyance has been more fleeting than expected due to the fortunate coincidence of a change in joystick not that long before which means my muscle memory was already messed up.

Could be, it's been four years since I did it :). But my old man's 'things were better in my day' sense tells me it used to be quicker.
It is much more variable now.
Before when the jump took longer than expected I started to tense up in anticipation of the imminent crash/jump failure.

Is beta out yet for coloziation?
Not as far as I'm aware. I expect there'll be a bug announcement from a CM when they plan to open it up.

It's an interesting question actually. Will I have time to play in beta? It will hack into my time playing the live game.

I reckon there'll be a massive download too. And my thinking is that you'll have options on the launcher to swap between the two versions. I think I tried the beta version that introduced the FSS when it came in.

Interesting stuff! I'm sure I'll give it a go!

The ship flies fast, very fast, yet is entirely controllable and easy to maneuver. It shoots off a planet in seconds, and then on to the next in a blaze of hydrogen fuel. It runs cool and scoops fast. It doesn't quite have the jump range of my DBX, but it still very good and not a problem at all.

My trusty DBX has met its match. It will gather dust now. :)
What's the landing footprint? I've put the DBX down in incredibly craggy mountains that are too rugged for any other ship. Just to get that last elusive fungoidia.

From what they said earlier it isn’t going to be a traditional beta on a seperate server system in a copy of the game but a part of the live game.

EDCopilot can do that, too.
I'm spoiled, I have a GeForce RTX 3080 Ultra. 🤷‍♂️ (y):D
No match for the mighty MX 250. 😉

The app has quite a few options to change things up. You might want to join their Discord to find out more.

Annoyed? No. Confused? Yes, in the beginning. Now it is to me almost as if this had been like this for a long time... 🤷🏾
Ah thanks for that, I assumed end of Jan, oh well!
Well, many did. Including the Buurs.

The way I understood this was that they roll it out into the game and put a "BETA" stamp on it... Haven't seen any hint to an existing beta server...
EDIT: @aRJay ninja'd me there...

The next Frontier Unlocked stream isn't till the end of February.
And to address this gap for PC2, FDev have announced a roadmap, in a well-presented couple of slides, and with lots of detail about what bugs will be fixed and features added.

I know they have fewer people now but someone could find one hour a week to run the basics of community engagement over here.

Oh, and everyone in that thread is complaining that no-one is left on Twitter and it's ridiculous that FDev are using that as their primary comms...

I can't find the video of this any more but we had the big "we will communicate more" apology in 2021 - didn't last long did it?

Not me. I didn't even notice it was there, and had to log in to see what you were referring to.

It doesn't seem to mess with my muscle memory for docking. I still hit 1 (for nav panel), and E twice (right 2 times) to Contacts. Just like always.

I guess you had a different method?
