Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Of course it's a very different game environment than Elite, with much more of an "empire building" focus. Still, it would be nice to have some NPC employees who could actually do stuff in Elite :) I mean, my carrier crew can't even move Tritium to the fuel tank. It's kinda sad.
I’m currently about 12kly from my carrier, wondering why a simple “move Tritium to the main fuel tank” option is still not available via remote admin! 🤔

the extreme sport of low g geyser jumping is great fun correct usage of thrusters to slow your decent so u don't die is an acquired skill..........
brief re entry to the jetstream to aid this may be required
the timed two hop approach launch and finished landing should be judged appropriately
spectator judges(3) use emotes to signal there scores a salute being max points of 7 upon a jump completion:giggle:
(pointing means disqualification)

Aaah, cool. I'm slowly considering the whole thing as I watch people go through the birth pangs.
Likewise.

Of course with the claiming side of things paused so new systems can’t be started there isn’t much else to do apart from scout out possible locations or help someone haul stuff.

Oh possibly stockpile commodities on my FC if my chosen locations are convenient to its current position.

Is there a timeline for when it will be unpaused?

I'm up for helping transport commodities in my spare time if someone names the first outpost WAYU Industries.

No, I suspect it will be down to when they are happy they have fixed the issue(s) rather than a fixed time.

But that would cost them 5,000 Arx unless it comes up in the random name generator.

Wow, I'd let her pilot my ship anytime. (y)
Yeah, some of the NPCs are human, and this one I hired accidentally when I bought the ship. Ships always come with crew that is from the station you buy them at, so this one is a Terran. Some of my other ships have alien pilots. They are not as nice to look at, generally speaking. They all work the same, though (at least once they've leveled up).

Yes, I agree. They wouldn't even have to animate anything. It could just be a menu option! But no!

Recepta Umbrux on this fine daylight savings time morning (summers coming).

Hi :)

I've been mostly playing X4 Foundations, because they just revamped the flight model and released a new version. The game keep improving, which is nice indeed.

One thing I really enjoy in X4, that I wish Elite had, is the ability to have your NPC crew do things for you. You can just ride along and let them drive. You can have them haul for you, mine for you, etc. It's really a fun aspect of the game.

Ahh, the Egosoft X series. 🤗
I've got most of those games on my Steam account.
I've played most of the series right back from X Beyond the Frontier's release, and I was a regular poster on the Forums more or less when they first created the main forum for the game, happy days!
I don't play the games now, (though I might start them all up again from the beginning someday, who knows). X Rebirth was the turning point for me, I couldn't get much interest in it mainly I think because (apart from the awful release state) and the new feature of the 'space highways', which was a big change from the original BGS. I'd also frequently asked for planet landings, but it was not to be.... Elite now fills that specific feature for me. 😊

I agree with you on the NPC principal, there's many a task in Elite I think would benefit from more active NPC participation, especially for those mundane repetitive tasks. I personally think that repetitive tasks / play can lead to a few negative outcomes, boredom, physical strain and I bet nobody thinks much of the wear and tear on your keyboard, mouse and joystick. I mean, how many times do you use those 'peripherals' in the game when a well programmed NPC could theoretically cut that wear out by a large percentage.;)

I wonder if they'll add some extra time to the station build times which players have already started, as there has been a fair bit of server down time last week?

Today....Still unloading my Carrier in my claimed system, then when that's done I'll maybe as I said earlier, go to the appropriate systems and start filling it up again with more of the same.
Incidentally, just thought to add. When I went to another players Coriolis station yesterday I took a mission there for (can't remember the actual amount) some gold......it might have been 75 units or something like that, a go find bring back type. The reward was roughly around 30,000,000 so I took it just to do something different other than hauling for my station for a change. I brought back a full Cutter load of 512 units (I always re equip my Cutter with strong shields in the top slot doing missions) consisting roughly of 250 gold, some silver and platinum.

I went back to the station to deliver and....the same sort of missions kept popping straight up again, plus similar payments / amounts for platinum and to a lesser amount silver! 🤑 ...:D
I stayed at the station for about an hour (I was doing other RL stuff as well.) Okay, it was just sheer luck, but I made roughly over 200 million in that hour.! :giggle:

Probably not as the only time sensitive e build has a four week limit and I get the impression that there are very few of those left unfinished already.

Yesterday, I took my new Manda out to the Coal Sack. That was a smooth ride. 80+ ly jump range with the biggest fuel scoop I could fit and a low emission power plant. I can start charging the FSD as soon as it has cooled down (if the target is visible), while I'm still fuel scooping at max rate in the dense part of the corona. The ships temp rarely goes above 60% and it doesn't even break a sweat.

I then noticed that I had brought a SRV, and decided to go to Sag A* again, just to see if it still looks the same. I've been a little careless on the way, so I bumped into a star, because I messed with the radio (my audiobook), and forgot to activate the ED window again (no controls). I also landed a bit hard on a planet, so the hull has a few cracks and scratches. Hope there's a FC or something where I can get repairs once I arrive at the Center. AFAIR the gas tank there is pretty lousy, but it's been a while.

I fly VR so no neutron stars, but with a ship like this, there is (almost) no need to have them. This is by far the best exploration ship so far!

Finally made it to Kepler's Crest. Decided the last two legs of the jump via carrier were going to take too long so I went forth on my ship to start this stint of exploration.

I'm just inside the border at the moment so I haven't come across any virgin systems yet. Not sure how far I'll need to venture in to start finding them but the stars here are not exactly on top of each other.

It's nice to hear the codex click noise again of "new" planet types being found though.

EDIT:: Woah! Just found some Guardian ruins!

EDIT 2: My hopes were just dashed. While EDEB reported possible ruins, I couldn't find any :(

ya i just tweaked my "mandy" to a more respectable 76.70 current 82.53 unlaiden
and yea with a 6a fuel scoop half way round the star and your full and you can scoop close to the exclusion zone np
it barely heats up at all
would have been a good ship to mine a live titan
