Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Aargh. I got gankerdicted while outside of the room and my shields were already being strip mined by the time I noticed. I barely made it to Jameson with 11% hull. He got me a second time and then supercruise decided to drop me out nearly a thousand miles from Jameson. I was charging for supercruise just as he dropped out next to me. Three strikes should've been the end really.

It's been a while since that's happened, but the funny thing is that I thinking of heading to Deciat just to test out how long the ship can survive a rebuy. I suppose that can be deprioritised now. Thank you, my ganking friend.

The CG had ended already when I logged in tonight. Shame I was looking forward to shooting pirates.
I got two KWS's I don't know what to do with or if I want. Two paint jobs I probably won't use (one of the ships I don't have, the other is a Tritium filler). And 270m Credits, which is OK.
I'm now 25% on my way to Elite in combat though, which after 10 years means I might get there by 2028!

It indeed does. Didn't pay attention to that earlier.

Ah, totally forgot about that... doh.

Edit:
Thanks for your input. This should be working better.

I feel like the KWS from this CG weren't made with small ships in mind. Even the C rated one is too hungry for the CMV...
Personally I would do this if I was building with those modules.

I have rarely used the AMFU and have only fitted it on explorer builds, if you power it down until you actually need to use it you have just about enough power to run the A rated KWS power eater.
As you need to be switching modules off to repair them using the AFMU there is no reason to have it on until then and you will be in the right place to switch it on.

Good to know. Cheers.

The CMV has been obtained on the way from Dhan to Tod. While I was travelling, I recieved several mails from a few engineers. First was Elvira, followed by Juri and The Dweller. All of them had their unlock requirements already fulfilled.
Besides, for those who want to unlock Tod... If you go there, make sure you've got a nice sum in bounty vouchers at hand, more than what he asks for to unlock. Once you have unlocked him, go to the contacts of his base and turn in the rest of your bounties. It has a positive effect on your engineering acess grade.

Hi All :)

Okay I've bought a Cobra Mk5...just a question here as I've temporarily forgotten.
The Special Engineered SCO FSD Drive (The one with the Titan Drive component and radiation baffles etc. etc,) Which station do I get it from, Is it the Techbroker Human, or someplace else?
Can it also be further engineered (without compromising it to much) at some of the engineer sites?...I'm looking at the class 4 I think?

Jack :)

Yep, I got all my stuffs too.

I'm not sure which, if anything, I will use but it was the first CG I ever did so I enjoyed the experience.

That A rated KWS though - whew, talk about power hungry! :D

I think the only ship I have that could use it without issue is my Corvette. That has a total power of 50.5MW and, currently, "only" uses 39MW with hardpoints deployed.

EDIT: Now... off to the black? Need to ponder.

Human Techbroker or possibly some of the Megaships given it requires you to hand over stuff for each one, choose the grade wisely.
All SCO FSDs must be the size of the module slot, no under sizing allowed.

The most you could safely engineer would be the experimental effect, anything else is either not permitted or will turn it into an ordinary SCO FSD.

MY GHAST HAS BEEN UTTERLY FLABBERED

BUG FIXES! ATTENTION TO DETAIL! STELLAR FORGE ACTUALLY DOES THINGS TO ECONOMIES!

Looking through the update notes for next week, a thought occurred.

Is it just me that thinks colonisation is extremely complicated?

It may just be my perception as I've not tried it.

Anyway, I'm back in the near black for some explorationismic activity. This trip out is envisaged to be a relaxed sight-seeing tour, not a rush for rank gain. Hopefully, a few tectonicas will show up though as they are always welcome.

I'm looking at all these new Stations being built in bubble systems, surely this cannot be a part of this colonisation?
I am thinking that when we have systems with 20 space staions - the caring sharing thread is going to be a lot more "hit and miss"!

In other news I was promotoed to Lt Commander today, the same day that I purchased my Cobra V - she is a lovely small ship.

So far i have claimed one system and built one outpost, just to get started.
I'll get back to it when i have more time, and know what i am doing.

Colonisation looks as if it is going to be like many other activities in the game, as complicated as you want to make it.

If you just want to build a colony then it is just
  1. Find a system
  2. Find somewhere in range to buy the license
  3. Place the beacon (within 24 hours)
  4. Select the Primary Port you fancy building
  5. Haul the stuff required for the Primary Port (within 4 weeks) others can help
  6. Add anything else you fancy as and when you want to.
If you want to have certain things or activities available, or generate a small passive income, or play politics then you will have to pay attention to what goes where.

Nope! :D not just you!....while I'm pretty much okay with the initial claiming part, orbital station construction and some minor other stuff I'm not fully understanding this weeks post notes by Paul Crowther on the new update content coming next Wednesday concerning colonisation.
Perhaps when I've downloaded that update and get some more 'hands on' experience trying stuff out etc. I might have a better idea of how it all should work! 🤨

Numbers 1 to 5 I'm okay with now that I've completed two stations :D , number 6 is the confusing part for me at the moment. When we get the update I'm hoping that the rest of it (the update notes and pictorial examples) with some more hands on experience will hopefully be more understandable. I get the impression that the Colonisation user interface will have some additional content with the update?... so maybe that will also be helpful.

What am I doing 🤔...well I've just bought the class 4 engineered SCO drive and I'm currently at Farseer's to see if I can add any experimental stuff to it. I'm also going to upgrade / engineer the ships thrusters (experimental effects) too.
There's a few of the Cobras other modules I want to engineer as well. I'll probably top up some of the materials / data I've used up engineering those modules, either collecting stuff in space, on planets and or missions later on this week.
I might also visit those Titan sites....I'm down to 1 drive component so I'm aiming to at least get another one or several. Incidentally, I did a search on Inara to see if any player owned carriers were selling any titan drive components, seems no one does....interesting! :sneaky:

I'm sure it's just you. :p
Who doesn't want his own space station.
I sure don't!

Besides any station you build isn't actually yours, it belongs to whatever faction occupies it. They'll shoot you on sight in most cases, and they sure as heck won't salute you.

I consider the entire Colonization feature a huge waste of time and effort.

Clearly, the feature was not designed for me! I'm glad others are enjoying it, though.
