Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

same as signing up one side just sign up for the other side.i always sign up for two.im not on this cg as im stuck out in the black, make sure you are hand in combat bonds to the right faction, probaly at a different station in the system.hard to explain not being there.
These recent CGs have prevented us signing up for both sides so if you want to switch you have to abandon your current side, losing any rewards from that one, and sign up to the other side.

Since I returned to the game, that's the first thing I've read that makes me think on-foot stuff might be worthwhile (y).

Not saying I'm gonna do it, though :)
Now that FDev made material rewards for on foot missions better, it becomes possible within my attention span to engineer a suit and a rifle from grade 1 to 5. I still have not bothered with personal equipment engineers for the additional effects (lets call them) that can be added. That starts to require you to be a burglar and possibly murder to get some gaffa tape and cat media or whatever.
I seem to enjoy on foot conflict zones while on "holiday" in Colonia, but never seem to get tempted by them in the bubble. I need a reason to fight for a side in the bubble.

Hey, I'm trying to do some ground CZ stuff, and I got a few kills in my first battle, turned in the combat bonds, but they did not count for the CG. I am signed up, so...

What was the secret you figured out?
I had chosen the side that didn't give progress when I handed in the bonds to the wrong er... hand in.

So...

I signed up to "Imperial Campaign Targets Archon Delaine in Beta-3 Tucani". Then, at Frontline, I selected the "Youbee Dpminion" faction to fight for. Then, hand the bonds in through the combats option on board my ship at Bakewell. Not the Frontline chap.

If I had chosen the other option for the CG i.e. "Delaine Targets Imperial Forces in Beta-3 Tucani" I would have to select the "Kumo Council" faction and hand in bonds at The Mictlan (again, on board ship).

I think I have that right.

Well, I figured out my mistake and managed to get some contributions to count. I had signed up wrong and then fought for the wrong side. What a noob.

Anyway, it's working now. And I need 10 CZs to unlock Hero Ferrari, so I guess this all counts for that too. I guess. :p

Ahh, very much the same thing I did. Now I feel a bit less dumb :p

Now I know, it's obvious. But before that I thought I'd shed a load of brain cells overnight :D

To be fair, I did think it was a little confusing.

I decided to buy a Mandalay for the alt. I've never bought one on my main. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but so far I like it quite a bit. It handles nicely, and the cockpit view is pretty cool. It's bigger to land than the Cobra MKV, but I didn't have any problems with the couple of planetary landings I did.

I'm at the "no engineers unlocked" stage. I have to do a lot of running around to unlock a few things. I want more FSD range at the very least.

Anyway, I'm pleased with how playable the game still is, even without engineering.

After starting the alt 2 days ago, I've been able to acquire 2 ships (beyond the free Sidey, so 3 all together). I have about 56 million in free credits. I was able to participate in the CG, and the reward for that will more than double my credit balance.

All in all I'm having a lot of fun as a newbie (admittedly, a newbie who knows the game pretty well).
