Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Speaking of jump range...I'm almost done gathering the items needed for the pre-engineered V1 FSD (SCO), which adds 5Ly. That will put my Mandalay at 85Ly.

Last items? Titan Drive Components. I'm gathering for two drives. Gathered the Propulsion Elements yesterday.

So now the wait begins for two Titan drives to appear. I hear that can be...trying.

Hi :)

So now the wait begins for two Titan drives to appear. I hear that can be...trying.

The last time I went collecting those was a few weeks ago. I already had one from on my carrier from months ago. The second one I picked up took me roughly 2 hours of gameplay at various Titan sites. Third one I found within 10 minutes or so, but another couple of hours searching later I'd found none!...so I gave up.😬

I'm obviously not sure what the current success rate is, and it might have been changed by a 'stealth' inclusion in a recent update etc. so...🤷‍♂️
Some players in the recent past seem to have no trouble collecting several in a matter of hours though, so it's probably a good idea to just try all of those Titan sites maybe.

Jack :)

I've been slowly unlocking some of the Engineers, and upgrading a few things to G3 or so. I need my ship to be a bit more combat-capable, because I need to get bounties for the Powerplay stuffs.

It's been mostly enjoyable. The Engineering rework did a pretty good job of making the gathering of materials better. I wish they had considered making unlocking Engineers a bit less tedious, though. Oh well. You only do it once. For each CMDR. heh.

I was visiting Elvira Martuuk's base, and it was in the dark. Of course.

However, I did think that her base looked pretty cool in the dark, because of the domes.

Must admit, I've given no thought to engineering for years. The current Cobra V I'm flying has the pre-engineered FSD I bought from a human tech broker, and that's it. Out here in Colonia I had introductions to some of the engineers but don't think I ever visited any. Most of my ships with engineered goodies are back in the bubble but would cost far more than their value to ship 'em out. I should probably just sell them but don't need the cash and I hear the cry of hoarders down the ages: They might come in useful some day :)

If I get bored of exploring things might change but that's not in my immediate future, I don't thnk.

I see there's a battle royale CG going on with two brutish men attacking a poor defenceless princess. I'll have to wind up my material gathering operation at the weekend and head back to civilisation. I'm near the end anyway and can always go back to finish the job. It was just something different to do while nothing was happening.

One good thing about filling up on raw mats though is that I now don't need an SRV bay on non-exploration ships for random surface mining. That extra module space could come in handy. Like hull or module reinforcement for the Krait for instance (I have neither).

I do hope there's some GCZs though. It sounds like there is.

I was thinking while out here that I should probably swap the Krait's pre-engineered Cocijo FSD into the Mandalay and just leave the Krait with a normie engineered one. There should be a spare around here.

I never got into the Titan grind but you can almost guarantee that I'll eventually try something I've said I have zero interest in doing.

The CGs are of the pick only one variety again, so if picking the “princess” to defend you can only help against one of the attackers but it isn’t a three way fight as the guys are not fighting each other.

Apparently it is Power Play Conflict Zones which means no ground forces but the CZs are within friendly fire range of the station which will return fire if hit which is probably going to hurt all the way to the rebuy screen.

Not sure that I am going to fly back again for this one.

<sigh> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/corsair-coming-out-of-arx-access.638961/
Yesterday morning, I started that thread with the question about the Corsair.
This morning, someone posted the news that the Corsair is available for Arxes Credits now.
This lunch break, I fired up ED to buy and A-rate a Corsair, then I discovered that the only way to get a green paintjob is to buy a ship kit for 10080 Arxes - and I have 10070 Arxes on that account.
Anyway, to do:
  • buy Arx
  • buy the ship kit
  • cheese some engineering mats
  • fly over to the Guardians to get a module blueprint and some mats (I'll use the Cobra for that one)
  • engineer the hell out of that build, then go on to dominate some CG CZs
  • pack a picnic basket, then go camping in a Titan site and wait for drive components.

Not having a lot of luck on this exploration journey. So far, all the systems I've gone to have already been discovered. On top of that, there's been a distinct dearth of biologicals at all, let alone finding tectonicas.

@Ashnak

Funny you should mention ship kits and paintjobs! I had some ARX over so I also splashed out on some stuffs just now:

I like the kit, but I'm not married to the paint job. That'll need changing.

I think you mean that it is available to buy in game for credits now.

Re. the paintjob though, the same is true for the CMV - there are only a few naff paints in the store, the few decent ones are only available as part of an ARX shipbundlethingie or kit.

Yes, it's available for "normal" money i.e. credits.

Which is what I think I'll do with the PC2 as I can't see its worth to me at the moment. I will get it, just not via ARX.

I'm considering buying it on my Alt, since he's got the cash and I made the "no jumpstarts" promise to myself when I started him last week. He has the Cobra MKV and the Mandalay at the moment. I love the Mandalay. It's turned out to be a great "do almost anything" ship.

I need a miner, though. I'm not sure the Corsair fits that purpose very well. And it has such a weird shape. It has enough internals, I guess. Hmm.

I'll have to think about it a bit. New ships are always cool, though.
