Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Now, I think, from the first screenshot, the top two are the top mounted ones, the second two on the side and the last is the underside one. So how can I tell from the reload screen (shot 2) which one is running the lowest that needs a reload? Is the "order" the same, as it were, so the last one corresponds to the underside MC?

Sorry CMDR, I have no idea!

This evening I have mostly been taking my 'Open Only' CMDR out in the mining Adder (with its measley 16ton cargo hold) to hoover up some Void Opals, see how it is now.
I got lucky, first VO 'rois I found was a mother 'roid, at least my tiny ship, so I was full up in about 40 mins (normally takes me twice that - finding the 'roids is what takes the time, I think I am sharing 'my' area with some cross-platform folks - there is regular activity evident - traffic reports, state changes etc. - but I never see anyone around).

This is an Adder, honest:

Not the greatest image - its a dark coloured ship in a foggy environment. Enhancing and tweaking the image only brought out a nominal amount of detail.

But it is an Adder, wearing a ship kit!

Then I spent the next couple of hours trundling around looking for a market. Started with the usual 3rd party tool ('mining tools') which was a bum steer, kind of what I expected, from what I've read.

So then I broke out EDDB and started looking for Refinery economies (I hadn't visited nearly enough local systems for the in game tools to be useful), see which where most up to date demand wis.

Best I found where several places offering about 25% the previous price. Not much return (about 2.5 McR) for time spent, but I felt like was engaging with the game more than when I just hoover up a load of VO's and just jump to wherever the tools tell me to go.

I'm still not likely to take up mining as a career, but I had a low key fun time trying to tackle the 'puzzle' of where to sell my VO's.

Silly question time...

This screenshot shows five MCs assigned to fire group 2:

This screenshot shows the state of play, ammunition-wise, how each MC has rounds remaining:

Sorry, it's a bit late and I hope the question makes sense!
Cheers!
Right, what screen is that?
Dammit, my phone's playing up.

I don’t know which one is which, when I synth ammo I either just start at the top and work down or just take the one with the shortest line first as that has least ammo.

That's a great shout, thank you, I'll swing by and fit one before departure. 40 minutes until I leave, I feel like I'm packing for a family holiday. Have never used an AFMU before, never even bought one, this is a voyage of discovery on several levels.

You're welcome, and Cmdr. Templar, before you leave space dock, ahem, we won't let you go without a copy of emergency protocol Gamma-Epsilon for deep space Cmdr's.

The Admiral left a copy for you at Ten-Forward as he doesn't want to find you caught between the devil and the deep blue sea and he sends his best wishes. Plain sailing Cmdr., plain sailing....

Took a break from zapping the baddies and decided to explore a few nearby systems I hadn't visited. Before I knew it, I was nearly a thousand light years away - damn that Guardian booster

Was hoping to find an undiscovered area but I think I need to go further. I did find this one, but it appears The Watch got here before me; I kept looking over my shoulder in case Nobby Nobbs showed up:

There're some interesting systems in the Blanco 1 Sector so I might stay a while. Could be quite lucrative too.

Arrived at Colonia. Quite a view arriving here. It's full of stars and nebulosity. Already unlocked the first engineer and bought an Eagle for buzzing around. Lots of buzzing around seems to be needed to find the thingies you want out here, where the Universe is extended with wooden planks.

On the final part of the trip I took the SLF out and inspected the Kriat. Thought I saw a suspicious looking shadow in my seat in the cockpit, but that couldn't be, since I was 19,000 ly from the Bub and I was in the fighter. When I got closer, like very close, I bumped the Krait slightly so that the shield lit up. This is what I saw:

Good thing I've arrived to some sort of primitive civilization. I was just about to get "strange" out here

Isn't telepresence fun!

Yes, I think I heard about it. So that's actually my material existence sitting there, while my conscience is in a virtual body in the fighter, looking at my real body, all experienced through my RL senses via virtual reality. That's complicated. Reminds me of that dream in a dream movie.

Went to the engineer to accept his invitation. He wanted 100,000 worth of bounties. Well, I was in the Eagle, I had three frag canons mounted, and I had just bought enhanced thrusters. Nearby I found a low res. Still only have a 3C bi-weave straight out of the box, so I went hunting Vipers and wings until I had the 100K. Even with the mild modding I've done so far, it's as much fun as a Vulture, though slightly more risky. I might "restart" out here as a bounty hunter in a fragile Eagle.

More VO mining today (I know, I know, still exercising the curiosity).

I want this particular CMDR ('Open Only') to use smaller ships exclusively - so at the very least that means large pad ships are out. I think I'll discount the Python, too.

Anyway, I mention this because after a frustrating trip back to the rings, the Adder turned up no cores. This is due to a) only having 16 limpets, and b) my lousy 'roid recognition.

So I hopped back to the station, summomed my Cobra III. Waiting the whole 9 mins for it to arrive, I went and read more widely on core 'roid spotting tips.

Kitted up the Cobra, sold the Adder, and head back out.

Three VO 'roids, one of something else (G...?) in the time it took me to get one yesterday, and half my limpets abandoned to make space, a much better showing.

Boom:

The collector limpets sure acted up though - one ran for about 5 mins, the other half dozen I launched collected one unit (usually close by) and then expired, so I reverted to manual collection.

Anyway 38 tons collected in the time it took to get 16 yesterday, and about 6McR. All this within the same system, too, which was not something that could be done previously.

Still only about 25% of what would've been made previously, but not too bad, really. Also, being able to sell in the same system as the ring was handy.

I'm sure I could get more if more time was devoted to roaming around seeking markets, but eh, thats good enough
