Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I have arrived back in the bubble. It was quite a long journey, all the way to the core and back. You can see the big loop I took. My travel map looks more complex, anyway :)

Now I need to regroup and decide what interests me. I've just been exploring for so long, other things seem strange :p

That's some journey! Do have plans for another or are you giong to take a break now?

That reminds me... My exploraconda is still meandering back from DW2 and has passed over Colonia without me realising it. I wondered if I should bother to go visit Jaques, I have never been there in any account. - Nah, I just keep coming come ready for Odyssey (it is a LEP account).

I think it is daft to have that galaxy image in the background to the EDSM route map (which spans the galaxy) - I wonder if there is a way of turning it off.

Well, I'm running supplies to the CG system.
One trip carrying 18,000 tonnes and in an hour I made double the profit I made in a week at the Witch Head CG.
I can't believe how fast the stock went.
Time to start price gouging I think.

The only real issue is loading the stock in the first place. Boring and time consuming.*

The bottom line: The carrier is more than paying for itself, I'm helping other commanders at the CG, I'm helping push the CG, I'm having fun. :D (y)

*Boredom slightly mitigated by ramming Belugas trying to dock, 'Get orf my carrier!'

well, I've got every ship and have done the fox's engineer guide, have a guardian fsd booster too
hmmm, what to do next??
go on a mats run, join in the trade CG, robigo run for a credit crunch, more guardian stuff
who know?

haven't tried thargoid hunting yet but don't feel prepared for it at the moment

I'm a CMDR without a purpose!

I think there is to much reliance on a good bout of RNG with mining, add to that finding a good spot and then finding a good price to sell at and you can get a low bang for buck outcome, but you could get mahoosive ones

where as Robigo is very consistent and you are rewarded every 10/12 min bursts

so, 12 hours of Robigo will get me (just) over 1b consistently every week, sometimes more, and this has the benefit of a 12 min commitment with minimum pay out of what, 15m? averaging 20m and sometimes 25m+
I'm not sure on mining, what would you get?

I guess mining is gamble where robigo is consistent

I got the Type-6 and outfitted it decently well considering the power plant limitations. I later noticed there was a Keelback variant so I cannibalised the Type-6 and bought some additional modules. I just found it to be better suited for my needs with the extra hardpoints and armour. Thing is though, it was all kinda pointless to me for their original purpose since I discovered the faction missions only allow you to take 10 units of cargo for 10 merits. You need 750 just to get to rating 3 so you can have access to the prismatic shields. AND, you have to repeat the process every week otherwise you lose your rating. Another aspect of the game I thought might be fun but just turned into a massive grind.

Fortunately I never wanted the prismatics anyway. I was just going to store some away in case I changed my mind. Plus I later checked which weapons other factions had at rating 3 and none of them appealed to me. I'm also not going to experiment with bi-weaves on the Cobra since some NPC completely shredded my regular shields twice across two systems during a black box retrieval mission. I was lucky to get out alive!

So anyway. I head over to Deciat to give the Keelback's engines a little boost before switching back to the Cobra. The chat was active so that was a fun read. There was some interesting information actually. I forget the exact term they used but apparently PvPers don't like it when you logout via menu or ALT-F4. I didn't even know about the latter but thanks for the heads up.

It's now sleepy time.

It's 23:00. Five hours before I have to get up for work. Should I logoff or go for a rebuy?

I find and stalk another player while in supercruise. I eventually get him in FSD range but we're just playing. No need to be aggressive.

He spots me! I know this because he keeps doubling back so he (or she) can get in position for interdiction.

Eventually I give in. I burned a rear car seat the day prior so I probably need to try and grab four hours sleep.

We pass each other in a non-threatening fashion but he instructs me to stop. I boost away..

I boost around wildy, in circles and other shapes! He takes me down, allowing me to reboot and repair.

I boost away again!

This time he shows no mercy and destroys my little Cobra.

The End

Unfortunately he also added me as a friend so I can now find him on the galaxy map in ten years when my ship can potentially take him down.

PS: Forgot to mention, I also took part in that LFT Whatever powerplay thing and got myself a nice little 50k bounty for destroying an evil Fed Cobra.

Best part of 1000LY zipping about in Jack Kerouac (is it sacrilege to prefer the DBX to the old trusty Krait MKII which took me out 5000LY?!) for Sensor Fragments at HIP 17403 (which was great fun, and quite creeped me out). First time hanging with a (dead) ‘goid. Gawd knows what I’ll be like with the real thing.

Have zipped back to base in Cubeo, and might do one more week with Aisling for a couple more Prismatics whilst finally popping over to see Prof Palin (tho I’m short a few Pharmaceutical Isolators to roll some G5 drives that my Cutter desperately needs - grrr...)
I was there for well over a month but I only got some decent playing time in this week before moving up north. It's currently my favourite home base though. I just wish it was more in the heart of the engineer systems I've found. It's a little out of the way.

What I did, and I think what most people who just want the prismatics do, is take a big ship and buy the documents to deliver for Aisling. I just picked the closest fortification spot and took them there. The game allows you to pay money to get the stuff faster, rather than waiting to get the next bunch for free.

Because, as you say, doing it the 'normal' way is a huge grind, and takes a long time. There's nothing particularly fun about it, so most folks just short-circuit the process.

Yes, you're right. You can buy an extra 10 merits at 100k a piece to limit the grind. I discovered that with a quick Google search because I knew people had got to rating 3 very quickly with enough cargo space. I maybe gave close to half a million over to this endeavour before realising I didn't really care.

I kinda like being pledged to a faction at this current time though so I'll leave things as they are for now.

Looks like I'm on my way to the Soul Nebula. Interestingly, there's a lot more systems already discovered along my route so far than there were en route to Colonia.
