Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Thanks, I stand corrected.
47ly! Wow, I didn't know you could get that out of them!
I had a Keelback for mining a while ago and loved it, but I hadn't done any mods on it so it was a bit short on jump distance.
I will re-aquire one when I get back.
It's a brilliant thing for specific purposes, imho. The trick is the two class 5 slots - you can take both a fighter hangar and a class 5 Guardian FSD booster. Between that and having Felicity breathe on the FSD you're into the forties, still with space for both SRV and fighter and decent fuel scoop. I expect you could hit 50ly if you wanted to leave some kit behind (or drop things like my class A long range scanner) but haven't tried. Like my toys too much. But those two slots are what make me not bother with Asp X and DBX for exploration. I still get the small ship feel but with actual kit to go with the range. Sorry, conscious I now sound as though I work in the Lakon showroom so will stop there. I'm just an advocate for the unlikely ships. Love 'em.

Once you've garnered the data and the Codex says "Ta! Here's 50,000CR", is it worth scanning more of the objects for different data or are they all the same in the instance you're in?

Yes, I got 100K last night. 50K for Purpureum and 50K for Rubeum. The Purpureum are purple, as pictured and the Rubeum are Greenish. You can just about make them out from a distance. Not sure what colours the Prasinum and Flavum are though.

I dropped Latin at 14 but:

Rubeum is red

Prasinum is green (leek-green, viridi is generic green)

Flavum is yellow

but yes Purpureum is Latin for purple

If you go to the bookmarks tab in the map and select a bookmark a menu pops up with Plot Route at the top, Edit is the second item, Delete is the third item and something to do with squadrons last.
Select Edit and you can rename the bookmark.
Are you on Xbox? I noticed you mentioned Dead Space. If so, I have no idea about bookmarking on the platform. On a PC, you can edit them. I stick a number and description on mine so I can work out what in the 'hood.

It's the journey not the destination, lol!

I've sent a request. I sent out several this evening, so apologies in advance Cmdrs.

You're on! First one to Colonia also picks up the tab at Jaques.
Nice! I can probably use this to help clear up and streamline the mess of markers I have around the bubble but I'm definitely glad I became aware of the option before such a long and winding trip. Thanks.

And I'm on PC. I just hadn't felt compelled to click on anything under this tab. Usually I'm more curious than that.

Got the request. Maybe I'll see you a trillion LY ahead of me at the weekend.

I'm still loitering around Mammon 2 since I haven't had a lot of time for anything besides tinkering and I didn't wanna start the mission until I could chill at the weekend. Rest assured, I'll be heading out tomorrow.

The Mammon Monitoring Facility is also the most interesting station I've seen so far. Very pretty. I didn't really know what to expect as I headed towards it and was worried I was about to supercruise right into Mammon 2's ring system.

Jumped over to the Guardian Sites area to rescue a trapped Commander. Very out of character for Tanya. Figured I might as well stay and top off all the Guardian junk. I remember first starting on PS4, absolutely hated the SRV. Now? Flying around like a maniac, either ignoring the Sentinels or trying to ram them. Combat rank creeping up from smacking the Sentinels, forgot about that.

Tempted with the mining CG, but the prices aren't all that and I've just done the bromellite run for Turner.

I'm not far ahead of you. Only around 2Kly I'd guess.
I had about a hour this evening, which I spent driving the SRV around an enormous crater on the planet I landed on last night.
I managed to collect my first Arsenic materials, good for my future FSD upgrades.
SRV hull integrity was about 29% by the time I reboarded my ship and I panicked when my ship appeared to have disappeared.
Also had a scare when I was informed my ship was under attack!
In the middle of nowhere.
Where's that coming from?
It was me in the SRV shooting my own ship. Lucky I uninstalled the defense turrets.
I found that the SRV works much better with drive assist off. Maybe it's just me?

Wowsers. What ship are you using?
Greetings!

I am using an Anaconda with a 75.2 LY laden jump range and max of 78, with 1723 MJ of shields. This is the ship that I always take for long duration trips that involve the galactic rim.

It also helps to use neutron boosts whenever possibe. I don't use Spansh; I use the in-game route planner for all of my navigation needs.

This time it isn’t just you, the SRV is a much smoother drive with drive assist off.

I finally arrived to my target exploration area, and am 48748 LY from home. So the work begins in earnest. This project will take a couple of weeks to complete since it's a rather large hole to fill in ED Astrometrics. So far the distances have not required any jumponium but the star density is rapidly falling as I move farther east.

So far I have found a system with an ELW and 3 terraformables.

I have built up an exploration Anaconda, haven't taken it out, yet, just bought it, specced it and painted it white right after we watched Ad Astra. AM tempted by one of those really long range trips one day. Maybe in my post-squadron retirement once I hit triple Elite. Thank you for the response, and for the updates.

I use all the in-game resources rather than out of game ones, too, so reassuring to know that they have steered you reliably so far.

Sorry Para, my last reply came across as a bit abrupt. I was winding down for bed and most of my thoughts never made it to text.
Anyway, thanks for clarifying.
I kind of knew Rubeum refered to redness (as in Rubies and Rubine (Pantone Colour) and I'd guessed Purpureum.
I didn't know (and wouldn't have guessed) Flavum or Prasinum as colour names as they don't seem to have any connection to modern Italian/French/Spanish colours.
As I said, we were taught Latin was a dead language at school, so the extent of my Latin is odd words and phrases and working out the year a TV programme was made by the end credits.

No worries...

I often wish I had kept Latin as it comes in handy at times and at other times it trips me up when I attempt a joke only to be told that I did not conjugate a verb properly. ;)

I use a neat web source for checking on Latin words, here is what it says for Flavum (where we get "flaxen-haired" from) and Prasinum (which I had to look up for my earlier reply but there is a colour / pigment called prasine which is also a name for a gem {emerald}):

Enough mining and exploration for now.

Heading back to the bubble to sell off the dearth of precious metals I got from the worst metallic rings in the galaxy, then I'm off to take a look at some abandoned settlements. Think they might be intesresting to pootle around.

Just waiting on my inept crew to plot the course. I may have to replace them with machines. New machines. Better than those on Richese.
