Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I am continuing to kit my new Krait out, currently at Colonia Hub.

I've come to the realisation I have no knowledge or experience of combat flight. I've only ever used a ship in supercruise to go between planets and land on the odd one. I tried out the Incursion: Utterly Useless training scenario and couldn't keep a Harmless NPC on my nose, let alone land fire on him/her.
I think I'll spec out a Cobra and prepare to die several times. It's a cheaper option than doing it in the Krait and I wouldn't want to scuff the paintwork just yet.

Well that's annoying! I can't buy a Cobra at Colonia Hub because I've got 80 tons of limpets in the Krait and they don't do a restock facility here. Need to go back to Jacques or Orbital to offload them, but those two don't have as good an Outfitting.
Ironic really, as it's usually with limpets that you've forgotten to bring them!

If you want to go for combat, a Viper might be the better option. Same hardpoints as the Cobra, but better speed and agility. If you have an Engineer who can fit her with Enhanced Performance Thrusters and put some dirty tuning on it, insane speed and agility 🤪.
I might get a Viper instead then, thanks.
I haven't got any Engineers unlocked in Colonia yet.
Got an invite from Mel Brandon, but I need 100,000 Cr in bounties.
I don't know why, but the only Engineers Blueprint I've got with me is for Shield Generators.
I didn't think this through.

I've bought all the top grade stuff for the Viper here and swapped it into storage. I'll transfer it over when I get to Jacques and kit it out there.

I might put in a good word for the Viper MKIV here :) It can’t take the enhanced thrusters, but it can still be thrown around very handily, and has better lateral thrust as I recall. It can also be tanked up better.

My first combat ship was a MkIV, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it.

The other thing is that I put off combat for about a year (I went out into the black for “some time”), because no matter how many times I tried that combat tutorial, I was toasted by the follow-up ship. This made me think that I was going to be rubbish as a combat pilot. However, combat “for real”, taken carefully to start with at a RES with assisting the cops, was nowhere near as hard an experience, and gives you a chance to really get to grips with combat flight. You can do it, commander :)

Thank you Cmdr, for your kind words of encouragement.
I appear to be on a wild goose chase. Jaques doesn't do the MkIV Viper, but there an FC here that does. I have a feeling I need to be in 'their' faction to board though.
It is virtually impossible to FSS this system with all the FC's here. More than FSS!*

That's 6 FCs for every system body. Is there any way of turning FCs off in the FSS?
There's something about this place that reminds me of a little village in Dorset. Nobody's got exactly what you want and it takes several journeys to get it. I bet everything shuts at 8pm too!
It has a charm though.

o7 Cmdrs!

Edit: *I didn't write that!

That seems somewhat remiss of Jacques! It’s by no means essential, the MkIII is a fine ship too :)

If only there was! I wanted to turn the FC’s off from the very beginning.

:)

To my embarrassment and regret, I have not yet been to Colonia. But if you can tell me that the similarity with a Dorset village extends to them having Blue Vinny, then I will be making all speed to get there :)

Statement from Njiri Rescue Logistics:

Regarding our dismissal of, and the subsequent Bounty placed upon, our former employee 'Tanya Wu'. Due to her great humanitarian work in Lave, said bounty now rescinded. Further humanitarian acts may see us welcome 'Tanya Wu' back to the fold.*

*But we won't hold our breath. Nutter.
And you can drop that 'King of the Empire' garbage too.

That has to be fake news.

Early shift on Monday so I'll probably annoy people less for the next five days.

Apologies to anyone I've been completely obnoxious too.

Have fun!
