Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Got the DBX up and running had shakedown flight to the 'bug killer'.
Just having a cup of tea and a chat with Flis at Farseer Inc. Says she'll help me out, Njiri Rescue Logistics will be back in business in no time![yesnod]

No real issues, still faffing about with mapping controls.

Noooooooooo! Flis, you've upgraded the 5B fsd instead of the 5A! Why didn't you say something!

(snatches biscuits back, storms out):D

Dav's Hope here we come!

Yikes! Perhaps she'll do a deal? :(

I think a couple of bugs just bit me...

First one was trading for some manufactured mats - the first failed to exchange (G5's lost!) and the second kept whirring away and didn't happen.

The second was after a loop of shame: I dropped from SC for docking but was 112km out. Whaaaaaa??!! Had to fly away in SC an reapproach.

Perhaps Fee is getting a bug too.

I can tell you that you are being plagued as punishment because Flic doen't like those two names. ;)

Felicity, Flic or Ma'am - or else! :)

(N.B Flic as opposed to Flick as in the late Ms Colby of Pan's People fame.... )

It's fun to watch you getting all worked up on somebody calling Felicity pet names. :D :D

Just sayin'...

She's probably not fond of 'Lisse either ;)

Did you know that Hercule Poirot's formidable secretary, who he only ever called "Miss Lemon", was a Felicity?

She is Bene Gesserit!
I knew it.

Have you seen her cat?

Aweome!
I love the Courier.
It was my first ship that I really spent time modding, back in the old RNGineers.
I had one build that would practically burst into flames when scooping or firing rails, lol...

Anyhow,
Buy some Enhanced Performance Thrusters for it at Farseer's, Martuuk's or Palin's.
Mod those with dirty drives/drive distributors.
NOT drag drives.
EPTs are different and suffer from excess mass more.

Then strip as much mass off of it as you're comfortable with.
3A EPTs have an optimal mass of 90t stock, min of 70.
IF you build a super light racer you can run drag drives, but that drops the optimal mass down to 78t, min of 61.
Drive distributors is 86t, min of 67.

Minimum mass is the point where going lighter won't make you any faster.

So if you want to carry weapons or some tools, you'll likely want to go dirty/drive distributors.
You should still boost in the 800s if you're careful.

Lawks...

So, I finally go around to doing this but only have enough mats to get the ship to G3.

She's already got a top speed of 564m/s and boosts to 766m/s!

Need more selenium and PI's now [knocked out]

I successfully made it to Colonia. It feels oddly claustrophobic after so much time in the black :)

Sold my Cartographic data, lots of first discoveries and bonuses. Got around 160 million just for futzing around out there. My crewmate was overjoyed with her cut, but after putting up with me all this time and having to deal with the smell of spaceweed in the cabin for weeks on end, I figure she earned it :D

My old Cobra was still there, mostly stripped. Some of the modules were still in storage, so I put them back on. But there's no FSD, just a stock Class E. I may or may not bother with the Cobra, but it was kinda nostalgic to get into the pilot's chair after all this time.

When I stripped the Krait MKII for this journey, I only stored the weapons, power dist, shield, and utilities and left the rest intact. It had a 52ly range at that point -- good enough.

So all I have to do now is get those stored modules and weapons shipped out here and I can reassemble the Krait for mining or mission running or whatever. It'll take a couple days, but it's a lot cheaper than transferring an entire ship.

I guess I'll settle down here for a bit. You can find untagged systems within 2 or 3 jumps out here. And other less-explored areas of the galaxy are also pretty close by, compared to the bubble.

Fun times :)

Nice! Enjoy!

I'm a homebody so that kind of distant travel isn't me. One day perhaps, but kudos to you and those that make that kind of journey!

Thanks! :) It's not really all that far, if you take it bit by bit. Assuming 50ly range, which is easy to get these days, 1000LY takes 20 jumps, or about 20 minutes (if you don't stop or look at anything!). Even without neutron boosts or anything, you can reach Colonia in 7 or 8 hours.

Of course I can never not look at anything, lol.

Last time I was out here I decided not to stay long. I was much more into credits at that point, and wanted to get back to the bubble because there was very little earning potential around Colonia (or so I thought).

Now, though, there are lots of missions here. And mining is exceptional. I did a quick price check, and there are places to sell that have good prices for many of the 'core' materials, like void opals.

I don't actually need cash, but I still might do some mining for the fun of it, and I do like getting paid. Somehow that never gets old.

Most of my stuff is already Engineered pretty well, so I shouldn't need too much from those folks. I did get an invite from one when I landed at Jacques, though.

I'll see how it goes. If I get to hankering for something only the bubble has, I'll just fly on back. I got no strings on me. *sing it loud!*

You're not allowed back until you've filled my photo album.:D

Oh. Just dropping in to see Fliss again and servers booted me.
No worries. (Picks up new Lakon catalogue).

But, but, but... I posted about it after the bugs infected me. Has she imbibed too much spice melange and become prescient?

And how does she feel about "Fifi"?

D
You have unlocked Elvira Martuuk as an alternate FSD engineer haven't you?

Or maybe a move to Colonia or Beagle's Point might be advisable.
