Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Had some strange times last night on my XOne profile...

Decided to try my new T6 and took a mission to haul some pharmaceuticals to a particular nearby system, single jump, nothing illegal. I get to the system and head for the correct station and they kept denying my docking requests over and over. Logged out, logged back in, denied. Supercruise away from platform, come back, still denied.

Went back home to Jameson Memorial, could not dock there either, denied! Weird? So I proceeded to do a no-no and dump my cargo outside of the station, and abandoned the mission, and I still was denied.

So, frustrated now and thinking there's a problem, I self-destructed. Then, when the game was trying to put me in jail my orange ship image when the game loads just spun, and spun and spun...never loaded and gave up after a minute.

Interesting server issue, yes? I figured when the servers were afoul the game just kicked you out so that's why my 'You're Doing It Wrong' list is so long LOL. Hopefully it's all straightened out today. I cost myself a 250K rebuy and almost that again in fines...luckily money's not an issue but still vexing.

Yeh, this isn't just you, I've seen other posts, same issues, tried to rectify like you did but found same problem at other stations.[knocked out]

Thanks guys...guess I'll just walk away for a bit next time. The only thing I didn't try (besides a long wait) is switching from Solo to Open, but I figured logging off and back in again would be about the same.

Thank you very much...not just me on the Xbox One then...it's a bug.

I posted the following and what I've discovered today as a fix:

"I have this issue as of last night on Xbox One X as well, docking request denied at every station I visit, in system or another system including ones I am friendly with (like engineers). Happened at Qwents too, just a bit ago.

I have been able to correct it by saving and exiting to main menu, and I know this sounds weird, but visit the Frontier store from the main menu. Once you're there, exit out and go back in to your game and you should be corrected.

For me, it was never enough just to log off and back on, or switch between Solo and Open. It seems linked to the Frontier Market to me.

I say this because I was outfitting a new T6 last night and wanted to go to the shop from the outfitting screen, and it would not go. It was only today that I made the connection that the bug SEEMS to be related to the Frontier store.

Again, once I bounce into the Frontier store from the Main Menu, then reload the game, I can dock.

Don't even know how this stuff happens...."

All this talk of speed reminded me of the end-all, be-all thread on this, and I found it still in my bookmarks.

That thread is fascinating itself, and it links to this one, which goes into great detail about the theory and how stuff works (check the Thrusters section): https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=282917

If you make it through both of those, you'll know lots and lots about making ships go fast, and will understand the various Optimal Multiplier... etc stuffs.

It's cool how deep the game actually goes when you get into the details.

Back to the Vulture for a bit of kiss kiss bang bang.

RES located. Hit it too fast apparently; hull compromised. I swear I was way off entering. Anyway, go AFMU, go! Get into the site, find a suitable candidate for pewnishment. Eat laser, you dog! 200CR fine and a bounty on me for reckless firing. Wha? Lick my wounds, back to base, pay off the naughtyness, refuel, resupply, repair. Get back to the zone, it's empty. This was proving to ne a rather frustrating trip.

Find another HRES in the same ring, approach, and my cockpit is doing the Standard Fireworks sparkler fizzle. Wha? This RES is really close to the planet.

But I make it.

How in the name of Satan's tonsils am I supposed to target that Cobra - it's just too fast. Get a few shots off on target. 60K bounty. Thanks. Aha! wanted Python! Deadly. Wait for it... wait for it... yep! There go the Feds bless 'em... eat this! Target shields offline... froomfroomfroom. Blam! 263K bounty.

I'm so crap at this... I'll try again later.

:D

Thanks for those links! Most helpful!

Wow, awesome. I think I've found my next activity!

Personally, I've found something about the boosters in the game very frustrating. It's great having a 'turbo boost' for getting yourself out of trouble, or for use in combat. But I hate it when you're just trying to get from A -> B as fast as possible and having to spam the boost button to do it. Even the boost noise starts to annoy me after a while.

I'd love either outfitting/engineering options :
  • A ship with no boost, but instead an increased top speed. Not as fast as boost, but permanently on. OR
  • An after-burner like affect. High speed, long-duration. But... it guzzles fuel at insane rate (and possibly needs heat-management)

I haven't flown my Viper in ages, having a ship that can perma-fly at 700+m/s sound perfect!

Halfway around my 'bubble tour' to unlock Cheungers. Been using the Galmap filter for unvisited systems, love it, will be making a lot of use out of this feature.
No idea where I'm going, profit? Danger? Onwards![yesnod]

Last trading stop's gotta be Hutton!

My jaunt into the unknown came to an abrupt halt, surprise encounter with a 3g planet.Took out 77% hull,so i'm now limping back for repairs. It's all good though, taking my time to scan and already planning my next attempt. I'm going to one of those big red dust clouds you see when you zoom the galmap out a ways.Nearest one is about 5k ly , and it looks interesting.I wonder how the quality of light will be affected there?

77% hull is not limping - I ended up with 3% after a series of errors involving a 2.8G planet, thruster pips, and the boost button.... :) Depending on which of those big red dust clouds you are headed towards, it probably has an outpost capable of repairing your ship when you get there, so it might be worth pressing on!

Gonna pick up that free Anaconda then? [smile]

Only if they have the Galnet paintjob!:D

You know that there are people who will repair your ship in the black. Ship Rats are part of Fuel Rats I think - they use repair limpets.

(If you are near the DW2 route I have a repair limpet controller fitted for the expedition.)
