It's not that difficult. I did it in a Sidewinder. From memory, using the Sidewinder, it took about 200 hrs of killing pirates in a high RES. If you have a big combat ship, you can average 50 pirates an hour and you need about 6500 kills from start, so 130 hrs in total. When you reach Deadly, you're just past halfway and have about another 3000 to kill, which is 60 hrs.Ever reached combat Elite once. I don't knowmI have the willpower to do that ever again, but honestly, that tripple elite decal does look rather nice.
Once a King always a King, but once a Knight's enough. Not as exciting as Cmdr Tyres' promotion to triple Elite, but I've just been made a Knight.
Henceforth, I shall go NEE!
Yeah. With my combat skill, it's probably more like 400 hours. Which probably means something like three or four months doing nothing but combat. I would go mental after a week. It's not that difficult. I did it in a Sidewinder. From memory, using the Sidewinder, it took about 200 hrs of killing pirates in a high RES. Chris, what can I say? After the first couple of evenings, you're working on auto-pilot. Put on the TV, Netflix or whatever you have and watch a couple of films. That's another 180 pirates. Only 6320 to go. If you do that three times a week, you'd be done in 12 weeks. For me, these things are like an itch. I can't relax until they're done. In 2015, it took me a month to get Combat Elite from start of playing, though I wasted a week going backwards by trading. I can't remember what I did for Trade Elite, but I can remember scanning all the neutron stars to get Explorer Elite in about a week.Yeah. With my combat skill, it's probably more like 400 hours. Which probably means something like three or four months doing nothing but combat. I would go mental after a week.
So within my usual playstyle, it's a two years horizon. I rarely play for more than a year before getting bored, clearing my save and starting over.
In other words, that shiny decal is out of my reach.
But that's fine. I will proudly wear the exploration one and pretend I'm not jealous.![]()
Are you quite sure you shalln't say NI?Henceforth, I shall go NEE!
Oh so slow..... Slow.... Slow..... Echo... Echo.... Echo...It does seem to me that combat elite is far more difficult (read: grindy) than other disciplines. Feels a bit misaligned.
I can't answer for the "new" elites though.
I guess its more depends on what you like to do in ED, I like pewpew a lot (PVE only) so I actually feel its less grindy as the other 2 categories. It does seem to me that combat elite is far more difficult (read: grindy) than other disciplines. Feels a bit misaligned.

Because I got combat years before the others that feels wrong for me, but I suspect it is more that the changes to how fast you could ‘earn’ in the other disciplines accelerated progress in them relative to combat. It does seem to me that combat elite is far more difficult (read: grindy) than other disciplines. Well, part of my 'problem' with Combat Elite, is I won't sack the SLF crew.It does seem to me that combat elite is far more difficult (read: grindy) than other disciplines. Feels a bit misaligned.

Same here. Trained mine up to Elite and don’t want to let him go. We’ve been through a lot together and he deserves his billion credits plus. Just that last push from Deadly to Elite does seem to be taking a rather long time now though (currently 77% Deadly and creeping)Well, part of my 'problem' with Combat Elite, is I won't sack the SLF crew.
I decided on the Tanya account that grinding was right out. Of course all the previous experience means achieving 'x' involves little that might be called 'grind' anyway.
(I still keep doing Guardian Sites even though I've unlocked all the Broker stuff...).
