Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

This planetary base was way out there, Arcannon's Legacy, Cannonia System. I did some sightseeing while I was there.

These are Flavum Metallic Crystals, I've never seen them imbedded within a ring system around a GG.

So I found an interesting populated sector and swapped back into the FAS rather than the unarmed AspX. I wanted to buzz all the installations and I was a bit worried they might be scenario installations.

I may have forgotten that the FAS has a much smaller tank. I may also have forgotten it has no scoop.

I did remember that disabling absolutely everything and staying in the blue zone all the way to the outpost might help. (So much for "better shields in the FAS" huh?) And it did help. It helped me get inside the no-fire zone and hail the station before I ran out of fuel.

Unfortunately docking was denied because there was a queue... so that was that.

Well, if you ran out of fuel before docking, it wouldn't have mattered if there was a queue. Even with the ADC, you need fuel to move your ship to the landing pad.

I sure hope you had the number of the Fuel Rats to save your bacon.

Here's a curious one. An ammonia world in orbit around a gas giant. The question I have is: what is the next planet doing? Logically, it looks to me like the ringed body to the right of the one arrowed is orbiting the ammonia world... but that can't be, surely. I am missing the bleeding obvious, I knoow :D

Just watched the new format Livestream,
  1. New version of the Python with added good looks and different capabilities.
  2. 3 other new ships/variants of ships.
  3. Attack the Titans with U18
  4. U19 PowerPlay 2.0
  5. fixes.

Hmm... I have mixed feelings on that stuff...

I think I can call myself a veteran explorer now. The last exploration data was sold at an Azura Initiative fleet carrier at the Great Annihilator black hole named Interstellar Exchange.

Nicely done! (y) Gratz!

I thought lines down were moons and lines connecting up above were showing binary/trinary etc. So isn't that just showing a gas giant (with a bunch of moons)/ammonia world orbiting each other (while their little mini-system as a whole orbits the star, obviously), the next planet out is just the next planet out?

I am using my Friday brain, may be missing something obvious.

Your friday brain is absolutely on the right track, there.

From how I understand these maps, the raised lines show planetary bodies that circle around a barycentre which circles around their parent body, the low, direct connections show that the planets/moons are circling around their parent body on a common plane at different distances.
Aaaah, that makes sense. I've been out of the game for a while and was scratching my head on that one.

This was also my understanding of how the system map represents planetary arrangements.

Anithing in particular? Or just the classic "I have a baad feeling about this."?
Well, the "new" ships I welcome even if they are just takes on current vessels.

More Thargoid stuff, well, I have almost no interest in that unless they ever implement fighting them on foot - like a stand-up fight, not another bug hunt as Hudson once said. I appreciate the 'goid stuff is horses for courses, however.

Power play, again, this is has no interest for me.

Fixes are always welcome.

I share your feelings, albeit I'm always curious about what is going on with the Thargoids.

However, the fact that the next update involves taking the fight to the Titans does indicate to me that we are getting closer to the end of the Thargoid war as a primary area of focus. It's been somewhat interesting for me as a spectator, but I'm looking forward to what comes next and hoping that it'll be something I'm more likely to want to get stuck into.

There seem to have been hinte on even more ships being in the pipeline than those four confirmed for this year.

And if what Arthur said about the Python Mk.II ("different functionality") is also true for the other ships, this could be really interesting to see.
I'm definitely curious.

In a way, you could say that about every Thargoid update. ;)
And from what has been hinted, I fear that even fighting the Titans doesn't really mean that we're actually much closer to the end...

Fair point, although I don't think the human-Thargoid conflict will ever conclusively "end" unless it's part of a final farewell for the game as a whole before the servers get shut down for good. It seems like rather a waste of developer resources if all the mechanics and assets created for the war are just temporary. It's my suspicion that FDev will want to give players an extended opportunity to partake of this stuff. AX combat is endgame or at least high-level PvE gameplay (hence why I haven't got involved yet), and it doesn't make sense to me for that to be just yanked away.

I do think however that we are getting relatively close to a significant turning point where the human-Thargoid war shifts out of focus in favour of something else. A new age of exploration? Something involving the Guardian constructs? Whatever it is, I'm in.
