Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I would say it seemed odd I magically acquired the Suite. I guess it's priced in, and the Contact has it installed on your ship when you buy, but some part of me feels like it "ought" to be a module you buy that just doesn't consume a slot. Buy the module first then use it with Contacts as you find your desired systems, type of thing. As it stands it seems weird you could use the starter Sidey and make that into Johnny Appleseed without doing much else to stake a claim.
Its one of these modules that aren't optional, like the FSS. These come with every ship, existing ships got them retrofitted during the galactic maintenance.
And staking a claim needs besides the funding some severe material backing or the system is free to claim after the claim failed due to lack of it. And the commander who staked this failed claim would have a cooldown period in which they are not allowed to claim another system.

I think the servers need more hamsters.

Very slow and suspect a knock on from this:

Well, I'll still go and see if there are some hamsters willing to work for me...

EDIT: Yes, there were some. Though... It felt like a lot of hamsters, to be honest. Even my computer behaved and didn't stretch those loading times unnecessarily.

Hi All :)

That ship will be the mysterious Panther Clipper.
:D... Will we Ever get to see it in our lifetimes I wonder! :)
Anyway...
New plan of attack!....:ROFLMAO:

After totally screwing up the colonisation space port choice...realising my choice of space port wasn't such a good idea (smallest Coriolis, no 'arms'). I think the commodities needed is going to be too much of a grind at this point, and also bearing in mind the time allotted, I'm going to at some point cancel the build and re-start with an Outpost.
I don't really want to pick another system to colonise as this one has quite a few bonuses for the future, so bearing that in mind I'm just going to collect the commodities needed for the Outpost ( storing these on my player owned Carrier for the moment), so hopefully when I make the switch I won't lose the system. 🙏

Also bearing in mind the slow server times for various stuffs presently (Player jump times for Carriers being one), I'm just going to chill out if you get my drift.
Got one thing sorted out...It seems you can cancel your build for stations at any star port that has the colonisation 'engineer' so I'm going to hold back doing that until the features in colonisation in the game reach some sort of stable equilibrium.
Good to see Frontier has addressed the shortage of CMM materials though, that was a prompt fix, so kudo's to the devs on that point. (y)

Okay, for now I'm haulin' CMM's and gathering other stuff that presents itself. As I said in one of my earlier posts, knowing where to get certain commodities from in the systems surrounding my 'homebase' is paying off. There's one port in a nearby system that stocks CMM's plus a load of other needed materials at the same port so that's going to make life easier!...lucky, lucky me! :p....(I think).

I hope you're all doing okay,

Jack :)

As in my save data on Frontier servers. I cant continue my play, it insists on me starting the tutorial.
Not sure if you read this thread, but someone else had a similar issue. It's a bit convoluted:

Can't we get a free Panther Clipper if you surface scan a blackhole?

It's not the surface of a black hole that's the issue... first you've got to work out which surface you mean, because there are at least three boundaries relevant to firing probes from orbit...

Edit: I am now spending way too much time thinking about whether skimming the EH infinitesimally close actually would yield anything useful to DSS-like remote sensing (possibly yes, because I think I might have just relitigated the holographic principle), and what the Roche limit is for a DSS probe trying that out with an average-sized BH.
