Today I’m ruefully looking back on the last leg of my trip back from Beagle Point.
I decided to stop in at Vihara Gate in Kashyapa on my way back to restock my AFMU, buy some wine gums and stretch my legs. Having played for ten months I confidently decided to keep hold of my data and sell it to some engineers on my return to the bubble, first stop Khun to help unlock Messrs Quent and Palin.
After bumbling around the last 18kly or so getting some more system scans I rolled into Khun around 8am this morning. Confident and comfortable with my return to the bubble, all too familiar in the Krait that I picked up in Colonia for my second Cmdr. Only forgetting that this Krait doesn’t have G5 thrusters, forgetting that my shields were still off, forgetting that most accidents happen in the home and forgetting that the bubble has higher G planets.
Watching my Krait get sucked into the surface, with no effective thrust, and losing all my data was a hard lesson, particularly when I thought I’d learned those lessons a long time ago. All I have now are some EDSM badges, screen shots, the knowledge I’m a plonker and a long slog to be ready for the Distant Worlds 2 trip.
Tomorrow’s another day.

That's rough, sorry.
I lost two T9s last night owing to a mix of complacency, fatigue and bad luck. That's around 18m cr in rebuys (and same again in mission cargo value lost).
The upside? Prompted me to buy a T10 and I am in LOVE! Beams on turrets firing at will, a fighter bay, still loads of cargo space... my new favourite ship in the game.
Every cloud and all that. Still, sorry about your data.

You're truly in the midst of some Lakon Love. I haven't tried a T10 and had thought about using one to defend humanity against the Thargoid "threat." I just don't quite know where to start, so many modules and hardpoints!
Sorry to hear about your T9s' - two in a night is a sure sign its bedtime![]()
Lol yes you're not wrong! First one was a Deadly FDL, then two Elite Anacondas turned up. I was fighting poorly, the last one got me, fighter went down so couldn't boost away. The second one was plain sloppy - clipped an authority vessel with some stray shots, they didn't like it so they all turned on me. Rookie error.
The T10 has fully restored Lakon love (!), though. Haven't used it on Thargoids, yet, but as an armed trader it's a force of nature. 121m cr for a power plant stung a bit, though - then I see all those beams light up the black and it all makes sense again.
If you're willing to lose a bit of cargo space, I'd recommend equipping a bigger hangar. When you have two fighter bays, you can always have one figher up while the other one is being printed.![]()
It is a definite thought. I was probably trying to run before I could walk, however.
Am I right in thinking that I still couldn't deploy two at once? It would just give me no gap when I lost one? (I know, I know, we always want more..!)

Correct, but that lack of a gap makes a surprising difference to your own survivability.
You can't deploy two fighter at once, no.
At least not two NPC piloted ones (because you can only have one active pilot on board.
BUT - if you have a friend and invite them on your ship, they can pilot one fighter and the NPC can pilot the other.

At risk of derailing (again), can I ask a really stupid question? How do you plot a route to Colonia? When I see missions offered which are 20k+ly away, my FSD just says something like 'too far to calculate'. Obviously I could find Colonia on the map, then target a system in the right direction... but is there some shortcut for longrange plotting I am missing? I'm useless with the galactic map. When I T10 is finished I want to head to Colonia in it, but understanding how the map works first would be a good idea!
