Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Over the weekend, (the bad weather helped), I decided I wanted to try out a Clipper. So I ranked up with the Imperial Navy until I qualified for one, (Duke), then decided to rank on until I got to a King, (just for the kudos). I purchased a Clipper and outfitted/engineered it for maximum jump range, (got her to 47ly). Been flying around in it for a while and I might even venture into open with it! My exploraclipper is starting to become one of my favorite ships.

Baron for Clipper, isn't it? I too wanted to rank up as fully as possible but, for me at least, it got to feel Grundy.

ETA not Grundy, grindy. This phone is annoying me. Need to switch off the predictive whatnot

Had an interesting change of pace today. So I started off at the weekend following Cmdr Jonas Treesong for a part of his Ariel circumnavigation. While down on the planet I got a random mission which took me to Altair and I ended up running high-ish paying passenger delivery missions from Solo Orbiter for a while, culminating in a nice challenging follow-on expert Anaconda pirate assasination. After that I consulted my todo list and noticed that I was only 8% away from hitting Dangerous combat rank for Lori Jameson. Anyway, having read that Thargoid Scout kills give really good combat rep I've decided, after a long time on the fence, to go Thargoid hunting. So I hopped into my Krait at Shinrarta, fitted it with AX weapons, beefed up its hull and headed on out to the Pleiades. Turner 5 - Thargoids 0. This is super fun! I should probably check the Thargoid-Attacks-Where-When-and-What-you-can-do-about-it thread next and take the fight to some place where it will do some good!

I’m finally joining in. Albeit at a lower end of the spectrum. I’ve fitted my Viper MkIII to go after some scouts this afternoon but my wife is due back from work soon and I have to do dinner. I’ll have my first crack at them later tonight, if I can find some.

I’ve gone fully multi cannon and added hull reinforcements all over the place, if I fail miserably at least my rebuy is extremely low.

Now just 5% to go!

My usual approach to pve combat is to just jump in with my multi-purpose Python and have at it. When I first tried this with Thargoid Scouts I failed miserably. But, in the Krait, with a stronger hull, hull/module re-inforcement packs, AX weapons and an SLF? I'm going through these Scouts like chilli at a jamboree! :p

I just got released from Delta 7 penitentiary. During a fraught battle between two 'Conda's in an HRES, I hit the wrong one. As soon as I tried to pay off the bounty, the fuzz did the "YOR NICKED, MY SON!" thing and I was carted off without a by your leave. Total accident on my part with no previous but Lord Chief Justice of Wolf 1241 was having none of it.

Not even your best suit and a look of penitence will keep you from doing bird for shooting at the Scufflers. :D

They were into me for 200 credits too. Bet that wasn't put into the coffers for the betterment of the justice system, no. Went straight into their sky rockets for s and whiskey! Grrr!

Pretty sure I managed to rip a Thargoid's nut sack off this morning!

Just unlocked Tod Mcquinn after my combat expertise lead to 17 deaths - I'm such an ace pilot now (snort). Made another 200k so over the hand in prerequisite. Job for later.

Mind you, the HRES got a bit hairy again; those Fed boys do like to slice through my lasers. Another visit to the IF and 200 credits. Tch.

Lots of chatter about "lining up for the shot" - just dirty G4'd the thrusters and DDd them so it was a good test of my running speed.

I have a plan for later and perhaps the weekend ahead - unlocking The Dweller.

Not sure how to do it yet but research incoming!

He's creeping to the top of my list, too, just finishing A rating the T10, first. The mats for engineers make me sigh wearily, though, so have been putting it off. Let us know how it goes!

Dweller is really one of the easiest ones to get. You just have to sell something at 5 different black markets and as a "welcoming gift" he only wants money.
No rares, no weird alien stuff or anything like that. Just straight to business. :)

Not only one of the easiest, one of the most fun if you’re not role playing a good guy. I unlocked him last night on my Alt account using my Sidewinder, two small cargo racks and a heatsink. EDDB is your friend when it comes to finding what’s illegal and where....and outposts with black markets if you don’t want any hassle when trying to dock.

I used Imperial slaves, apparently many sell themselves into “slavery” temporarily to pay off debts. I still feel grubby, but hey my power distributor is a boost machine now:eek:

Best to collect materials all the time, taking the opportunity to scan things and drop in on USSs while going about whatever you choose to do rather than go off specifically looking for them. As you are finding going out and hunting them when you need them is not that much fun but it is only a little effort to drop in on these tings when you are flying past them anyway.
