Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I would suggest life support synthesis.:D

Maybe it's just time for some good old revenge. That jerk took my eye ;)

Just received the Core Dynamics catalogue, been throwing credits around like a loon.
FAS kitted out for AX Scout hunting.
FDS kitted out for scouts and rescuing escape pods and junk.

The FAS is superb, agile, tanked (ignore the green goo). Still using AX turrets, I'm not good enough for the fixed yet.

Of note, the combat bonds for the scouts have been acceptable to a couple of engineers, and my rank has improved fairly quickly.

But the main thing, Scout combat is fun.

Now if only the xeno scum dropped engineering mats...:D

Agree, I luv my T6 : 48t Cargo space and 16t Fuel . it a great ship even with a few basic weapons.and in 1 day I have made A few 2 million Dollars more than any other ship for 4 runs in short systems jumps (1ly)

I too have gave up on Discord.it a troll Feast.

Huh. Looks like I shot a Fed by accident (just one laser hit). They all came after me but I let them eat exhaust. Got back to a station, paid 200CR in fines and wham! Clinked up. Not a problem really but I'm wondering why I sometimes just pay a fine but this time I became a jailbird.

1. ... because it was a bounty not a fine.

2. ... because you clicked "Hand Yourself In"

3. ... because you didn't go to an I.F. to pay off your bounty

Who would have thought? I'm actually having fun in a RES. Just made a million credits doing it too. Unheard of for me. I take back any negativity about fighting.

Mind you, I suppose RESs are relatively easy mode when compared to most other combat scenarios :D

A busy RES can be a lot of fun and productive for credits and rank when you're on a roll! But sadly, RES's a lot of the can either have stretches of quiet that a little long or just drop little ships in here and there. It's really hit and miss in my experience, for High RES anyway. Haz RES SEEMS a bit busier but are riskier w/no Fed help.

Yes, it only takes one errant shot on a Fed to get in trouble. Anytime that has happened, I was in my Sidewinder starting out and they'd smoke me right then and there lol.

Ta. Still learning about this shooty stuff.

One other I forgot to mention that I learned the hard way (but is common sense), when you're chasing someone and they've done chaff to scamble your gimballed weapons, sit tight and don't shoot at them until the 'swirlies' stop...UNLESS there is no other ship close to them and you have a fixed weapon.

As long as we're talking combat....guys, how are missiles? Are they useful or just bleh?

Your combat journey is very heartening, as I might yet come back and have a go at it eventually, given your enjoyment of it now :)

Oh do. I think finding a ship one feels comfortable in is part of it. For me, that's the Vulture. It has some engineering but not excessive and it handles well - it's not a paper tank either with some armour and reinforcements. My Cobra didn't cut it for me in that department but that's probably due to my inexperience.

Once a few targets go boom, it starts to get fun :D

Vulture is a fun ship.Especially like the 'death rattle' boost. It's a voodoo ship, but attracts way too much attention for my liking.People see one and automatically think you're looking for a fight, which i guess a lot of vulture pilots are.Good for piracy,so i hear, although i don't indulge.

Yes, well it depends on the missile Dumbfire suffers from the usual slow projectile fixed mount problems, Seekers take 5 seconds to lock on but will chase your target unfortunately sometimes though idiots who get in the way. Both are good when shields are down. The Packhounds apparently can have a special effect that causes a serious amount of damage.

Useful or or not a T10 with a full missile load out is impressive with them all launching at once.

What is the difference between a torpedo and a missile in Elite?

(Old-git remeniscence... A hit from a missile in Elite '84, or Frontier, meant shields down and serious damage. Two hits in succession meant "Game Over". So the first thing to try and equip was an ECM. It doesnt seem to work like that in E: D; no one has fired a missile at me, and I generally see comments about an ECM being "pointless"! )
