Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Just setting off for Colonia from Robigo. Need a change.
The Robigo Vacations business is doing fine, maxed out some G5 mats and made 300 million or so.
But my explo rank was also going up, don't like it, feels a bit 'cheaty'.

So off to Colonia I go, via whatever distracts me.

Hopefully finish off explo rank, unlock some engineers, maybe start a salvage business.

Dan, it really isn’t that scary doing a neutron supercharge - just make sure you slide into the cone so that your nose is pointing away from the star, up the jet cone. You’ll shake, rattle and roll a bit, but as long as you keep some speed up you’ll be charged in seconds. You won’t be in danger of being thrown out into the star’s exclusion zone, and the worst that will happen is that you get bounced out without the supercharge having happened... in which case, just try again :)

It is very satisfying to pull it off, and even more so to see the jump range after the supercharge! 😮:)

(Do not try it with a White Dwarf... too large an exclusion zone for comfort, and a worse charge to boot!)
Yep, I have to second this 100%
White Dwarves are bloody scary!
But neutron stars are fine. Fly along the jet away from the star and skim it at the very end, slow down a little as you enter and once the FSD is supercharged, just punch it and you're away.
Try it in a Sidey a couple of times if you want. But yeah. It's pretty safe.

The only thing to note is - the supercharged jump damages your FSD, so if you're going to do it a lot, AFMU is a must.

Attempting to get this EDSM badge. DW2 helped a good deal to get me closer, but yet, I'm still a little ways off...

Does it damage anything else or just FSD?
Also, when you supercharge and jump, does it still use fuel out of your tank?

Not enough bookmarks. :giggle:

I'm currently sitting at Wallhala Port in Magellan, looking at my last -ahem ' landscaping project' and gearing up for the next jaunt. The first 40 jumps were ,(dare i say it),almost routine, though there were some lively moments when i hit a chain of neutrons ending in a White D .But everything was going swimmingly ,found a nice planet to put in for minor repairs, all looking good, dropped out about 470klicks up and started. 6%hull damage - repaired
FSD took a beating, down to 80%,- repaired.Thrusters 89%- borderline : oh go on then...but check the gravity first!
0.4g. Phew! Saved.
Throttle to zero,fa/off.Select thruster repairs and off we go.Hey,this is fun. Speed increasing..Didn't think bout dat.
Gravity has laws of its own. 0.4 g@ 470 Klicks = about 5.3g at surface. Terminal velocity 508 km/s.
Elle Cyd strikes again.

You are repairing your thrusters in a freefall? You crazy dude. :D

Agreed almost 100% on the neutron jump advice.Always well to be cautious around them. But in fact,i find it a 'smoother' ride going in from the far end.You can adjust the counter-roll a little easier, main thing is take it slow.like just above zero throttle, line up a shallow angle into the stream, and when you feel the nudge,Counter rotate, throrrle zero till covas tells you you're fully charged then engage fsd and fly away.
Dont worry if you get kicked outta the stream ust make another pass on it.,It's hairy, but once you get used to it its just fun.

So whats the deal with the fuel tank?
I've taken the opportunity to climb back into the scout.Shorter jump range(32) but a tenth of the (rebuy)cost and with the extra slots now available it has become once again my dream ship.
But should i replace the half tank with the quarter? Or double up?

Hmm. I'm in my Conda, I was thinking of putting a bigger tank back in.
It will do 2 max jumps then it's economic panic time. :ROFLMAO:

Just above Pelican Nebula, time to go deep!

But what advantage is there to having smaller size?

P.S.Just read your sig,am thinking 'what does speedcuffs have against garden implements?'
I think i may have found the reason i am bumping in to so many planets.

In my case i stripped the ship to the bare bones for max jump range.
I can't remember the actual difference it made to jump range, possibly not that much.
Thing is, my Conda is not really an explorer, it's a Colonia Taxi that sometimes fills in as an Explorer.
