Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Christ its 35 years sine 'Henge 84! I've almost recovered, must find the posters me and my mates did for it, they were much copied and reproduced, worked for a printing business at the time so made thousands of them on the QT.
I'll stop now, I am feeling old....nurse? nurse?

Just faffing around today and have, about three times now, got a "mission objective detected" from COVAS. Er...👀o_O Can someone let me know what these are? I have no mission on the go...

ETA Has anyone noticed the music just as you enter safe drop from SC near a station? Every time I hear it I think "Walking Dead".
I've never heard that. I don't know what it might be.
And no, I have the music off. I'm no help.

Today I've been goofing around with some of my long-untouched ships. I spent a while just going through them all, getting them out of storage and sitting in the cockpits, checking the outfitting, and just figuring out what-all I've got stored in the hangar. I got a lot of junk in there!

I found an old Cobra MKIII, that was for some reason outfitted with 3 grade 4 overcharged multicannons, all legacy upgrades. I have no idea what I was thinking about when I did that.

And I found an Adder that had 3 banks of dumbfire missiles on it. An Adder. Dumbfires. I really have no clue what I was up to. Some kind of ground-based assault idea, maybe? I don't remember!

And then there was my Viper MKIII, set up for high-speed. All of its upgrades were legacy also, so I decided to schlep the thing down to Palin to upgrade the Dirty Drives to a current Grade 5. When I'm done the ship should cruise at around 663, and boost to 828 or so. Just for fun.

While I'm out here I'll do my iCourier as well. It also has legacy upgrades on it.

So that's what I'm up to :)

It's a thingy. Wotsit.
Random mission, Trader POI. If you go to it and drop into the signal source, there'll be some dude in a T-9 offering you a 'fetch' mission.
Haven't looked at one for ages, might have changed.

Thanks. That's answered my question before i asked it.Just run across one of these (mission: trading beacon).Absolutely no idea what to do.Gonna give it a pass till i find out more. You don't work for goggle,do you?

Edit: I never listen to ingame music.(Except for the auto-landing muzak which is already bugging me).

So as a result of not quitting when tired I now have to decide whether I can live with this:

I really can't get up the enthusiasm to do my "iron man" clear save and face the Engineers rigmarole again for this account. I shall have to let it fester a while and see if I can finally accept an insurance claim on one of my accounts. I suppose people with loads of rebuys will not understand the brain itch that this figure produces.

Sounds like obsessive commander disorder to me. Arf.

I know what you mean though; I'm the same way with open transactions like handing in data to the Empire or Alliance when I'm mainly in independent or Fed space - I just have to get rid of them to have a clear transaction console.

Yesterday I've made my first proper mining run since returing from the void.
This time I really focused on core mining and got some 160t of that Rhothengldingitf stuff that sells around 340k/t. Very cool.

Interesting thing, though. I went to a system I've never mined in before and upon drop into the ring, I was obviously greeted by three ships as per usual. I was wondering whether to let them scan me and leave of get some extra cash bby disposing of them. To my surprise, they were system authority! Never had this happen to me. Maybe it's some kind of super-secure system. I like it. :D

I on the other hand have done many things to purposely get my ship destroyed, for reasons as silly as getting a screen shot of explosions. I never even look at that number. I don’t know my total. I’ll check next time I’m in game.

I did many free festivals, mostly on 'ampshire, torpedo town, Stoney Cross, Farley mount etc. Most people remember me from the leather jacket I painted a Chinese dragon on the back with glow in the dark paint, 'freaked the heads out' (man!). Happy days! Quite surprised I made it this far really...I expect yo had many casualties amongst friends too? I shall raise a glass to them. It all went a bit sour into the nineties, brew crew, smackheads and violence. Shame, it had been really good. Spend time watching Julian Cope if hes about now, f anyone wants to know about ancient stones he's your man! He's whom I stole my micmacmoc name from too. I'm sure we'd have shared a cider/beer/smokeat some point Si!

The jacket is definitely remembered!! (Though ~35 years on, I couldn’t say exactly when and where :) ) Times in fields with proper Mendip cider etc tends to blur the memory a bit too ;)

The nineties were definitely where “the wrong step” went, for sure, for various reasons :( Getting older and less resiliant didn’t help much either.

By any chance, do the names Andy Royle or Mik “Nomad” Oliver ring a bell with you?

Ah, yes I was surprised to have these recently.
Security, miner, Pirate.
Obviously I hung around to watch the fireworks. :D(y)

My last 3 mining sessions have started with a wing of 3 pirates joined by a lone security ship then lone mining ships twice.

The last session was disappointing I found/recognised no cores but as there were at list two clouds of freezing fog somebody had been getting lucky, on a brighter note and ref the other thread my lugging a mining laser along was justifiedI found a rock that was 29% Low Temperature Diamond so managed to get 7 tonnes refined, the station in a nearby system loves LTDs so I got good money for them I will see if the LTD hotspot is more rewarding than this Void Opal one has been in my next session.

I wish we could engineer prospector limpets so when they expire they turn into warn off beacons for different times depending on how engineered they were.

After looking at engineers again and seeing my combat stuff needs so much work it'll be very grindy, I've sort of made up my mind to unlock Selene Jean to lightweight my Conda's armour. I've just bolstered all the shield boosters and mass managed my FSD.

So, yeah. Mining then... another exponential curve to climb :D

<whimper>
She only want 500 tons of ore refined.
