Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Perhaps I misunderstood, if I am jumping into system xyz with say 3 stars and umpteen planets, then choose a resource ES 2,065 ls away, I supercruise there and do my thing, say I spend so much time there that I need to refuel, I was always under the impression that I can supercruise back to the star where I jumped into the system to begin with.
Yes given sufficient fuel you can supercruise to any part of even a multi star system but you have to jump to reach another system and the jump range to another system doesn’t change no matter where you go in your current system.

Maneouvring thrusters run from a separate fuel tank which is topped up by the main FSD tank.If this tank is drained you may end up without enough fuel to get to supercruise.
At least that's how i understand it.

This is what I was looking for. So basically if I needed 1 LY more to make a jump, I wouldn't be able to do so as jumping assumes my position to be the main star in the system I started in. No matter how far I would super cruise from said star.

I know you can't supercruise to another system, but can you supercruise towards a star that's just a bit too far to close the gap and allow you to jump to it?
You can cruise toward it, but that will not reduce the amount of fuel you need to jump, and the system itself won't show up until you do jump.

That's because the hyperjump is really a "loading screen" during which the new system instance is created for you. Without the jump, there's nothing there because nothing has been spawned for you.

Edit: ninja'd, of course :)

I really start to like these MC. After I got my Class 4 big berta engineered yesterday, I had that idea and went back to the Blaster. Stored all 4 medium pulse lasers and equipped MC instead. Then overcharged them and as experimental added Incendiary Rounds. Had to stop at Grade 4 due to burning through mats, but that did it for a test.

Went to a conflict zone and what do you know, it works like a charm, strips shields like butter. Went to the next conflict zone, ditto, During both battles I had to manage pips only one time, that was all, the rest was concentrating on getting on the targets and avoiding missiles as I have no chaffs. Not bad, bot bad at all. :)

I asked this replying to another thread, but I think this one get a bit more exposure, and figured maybe one of you know;

Signing up for a power for powerplay weapons, do you count 4 weeks of membership before you can buy, or 4 updates (aka Thursdays) following you joining the faction? Today is my first Thursday, so does it count like I've been part for a week already? I joined Tuesday.

I've finally taken off for a journey into the unknown.

I have no goal, no destination. I'm vaguely wandering in an "upward" direction, just seeing what I can see.. Something I never thought I'd do and I'm only about 20 jumps away and already edgy about there being no "civilisation" around :D

No undiscovered systems yet although I have already found some TWWs and an ELW. Just praying I don't fall into a star before I can hand the carto data in.

Don't know how long this wanderlust will last or how far I'll get before I go doolally with space-madness. All those hulls I have in the shipyard will just have to wait for their modules while I get this out of my system.

There is nothing out there that can send you to the re-buy screen without your “assistance” :) Like ramming yourself into the ground with shields switched off, or scooping from a White Dwarf without due care and attention (Neutrons are not as bad!). The Hull Seals and Fuel Rats are always there if you get stuck, too!

After a while, you just forget that you are way out of reach of the bubble, and start to enjoy the sights more. I spent a year in the black, and loved it - go and see the edge, and look back at the Milky Way... it is quite something! :)

Godspeed ToF, send us some pictures and mind these Thargoids. What ship did you choose, Conda, Phantom, AspX?

There ya go, Phantom my choice would be as well!!!! :)

Just back from shopping, and I don't know how it is in other parts of the world, but people behave increasingly nuts, yes I know summer is over, but ain't no reason to boost your trolly in my rear and then giving me a look like "how dare you standing in my way", liittle head then turned quickly left after he realised that I am not amused showing him a quick glimpse of my Haka-face. ROFL Used to live in Donegal, much more relaxed people as them crazy Teutons here.

Took my Multi Cannon Blaster FDL to other conflict zones, mainly to learn how to use shield banks...dammit.... them bank suckers do not go where I want them, Utility, but take up optional slots, of which, surprise surprise, I have not enough with both 4 opccupied for hull and module, leaves only 2 and 1, well what the Heck... and what do you know, they are extremely useful, and I am not running into the usual FDL heat problem because I use no Lasers, a nice surprise bonus to my choice of exclusive Multicannon setup.

Not even when you trigger them?

I always thought the main use for Shield Cell Banks was to cook corrosive off the ship.
