Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Only recently started playing again after a break from pre-Horizons days. Did some painite mining to buy a Krait Mk 2 which is now largely A rated and have now started engineering it. It's still a bit of an all rounder so a good multipurpose ship for now. Plan to head out to the Guardian sites to unlock the Guardian kit next as a break from the engineering grind. I have a DBX kitted out for that with two SRVs and have looked at the route so it won't take long to get there as it can jump over 40 ly

When I get back from that I think I'll rank up with the fed with a bit more engineering levelling thrown in, I'd quite like a corvette. My Vulture from pre-break days really needs some TLC too. I'll need another painite mining session as I only have about 150m in cash and my Krait/Vulture/DBX so I'm quite asset poor compared to most players. Back when I played regularly pre-Horizons credits were definitely much harder to earn.
Don’t forget to fit your two Point Defence turrets to the upper utility slots on your DBX when you go tomb raiding on the Guardian sites.

After managing to land on a 5g planet then a 9g planet i decided to land on a moon with no gravity to do some exploring, the moon looked to be completely covered with massive canyons however being very far from the star the entire planet was in complete darkness, i thought i found a flat spot and made my descent.

However my ship must of been following a deep canyon and i was a lot lower to the planet then what i thought, this was confirmed when my lights illuminated the side of a canyon, i pulled up hard, though boosting would save me... but me speed was just to quick, my tail hit the top of the canyon forcing my nose down and i crashed.

I was that gutted i closed the game there and then, but now i want to go and see if i can retrace me steps and try and find the same moon and make a success full landing

That sounds like a familiar scenario to me.Hope you didn't lose too much.
Edit: On PS4 you need to go to galmap before you log out to find that information.

On my way down to visit a codex mollusc site. There have been disturbing rumours of erroneus codex sightings, which i am hoping turn out to be just that.It happened to me recently but i put it down to navigational error.(my map is peppered with bookmarks whose significance has long since paled into obscurity, so that explanation is certainly viable).Still,i wouldn't want to travel all this way with nothing but a false report at the end of it.
Found another bark mound nursery system orbiting a class iii gas giant, and one of the sites caught my eye as being without manganese in planetary composition, so the list of neccessary elements required for bark mound growth is reduced.

More Bah!

So I visited a Guardian site, gathering materials from sentinels and destructible panels, decoding obelisks by carting artifacts around (seriously, whose idea was that? I spend half my time driving back and fore to an artifact stockpile swapping SRV cargo around. Madness.)
Haven't figured out how to get blueprints yet, so back to Google (seriously, whose idea was it to omit detailed instructions as if this game catered to actual real life scavengers and explorers - realism can go too far)

So why more bah? Self inflicted.

Moral of the story is to not take a Cobra III as the scavenging pick-up truck as it's utility sockets are mounted on the belly of the beast and as such are no use at shooting down Sentinel missiles unless you park it on high ground overlooking the ruins with its nose hanging out over a precipice - I don't know if this will work as that's just a theory, but I will try it tomorrow sometime....

Currently enjoying the SRV being bounced on its roof with each missile hit, though I have discovered that racing under the Sentinels when they fire reduces the damage you take and the Sentinels take a beating from their own missiles. Hiding behind obelisks playing hide and seek also helps. On the positive side, synthesising premium ammo means they only get one salvo off before the plasma repeaters take them down.

So, trusty Cobra III? Bah!

Yes if you lock onto and scan someone you should see all three.
I wonder if my name will be seen as "offensive" to some... If you don't know the inspiration "ENDER" can certainly be taken the wrong way.

You should obviously land with main thrusters facing to the ground instead, standing up like a classic rocket!
