Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

More Bah!

Currently enjoying the SRV being bounced on its roof with each missile hit, though I have discovered that racing under the Sentinels when they fire reduces the damage you take and the Sentinels take a beating from their own missiles. Hiding behind obelisks playing hide and seek also helps. On the positive side, synthesising premium ammo means they only get one salvo off before the plasma repeaters take them down.

So, trusty Cobra III? Bah!
Setting the handbrake in the SRV helps reduce the bouncing when hit by sentinel missiles. :)

By the way, what do all you guys think about this new plan to delay all new content and do beta tests for bug fixes instead? I’m seeing it as mostly a delaying tactic. The bugs they listed as the top ones for the first beta don’t strike me as very serious, I dunno. I think they are just trying to placate the player base without doing too much.

Personally I prefer to have the ships Point Defence interdict the missiles rather than ride them out.

Its hardly a new plan they told us about it ages ago along with the fleet carrier postponement, the thing with bugs is if they don’t seriously hamper your individual play style they are minor but if they do affect you they are much more important. The ones they have mentioned so far are the ones from the top of the issue tracker some of which I have encountered and I am happy to see the intent to test the fixes before release. There is no point trying to placate a player base as large and diverse as this one as any action will upset someone.

Well after almost 3 months I finally completed the Stellar Unknown Expedition...

I made over 781 million in exploration/codex data and saw lots of cool stuff but I'm ready to get home and shoot something.

I've gone back to HIP8444/8758 as it's quite a profitable shuttle run. Not your VO type earner but good enough for me as it'a time to get those A modules on the 'Vette.

Currently spending most of my game time mining Void Opals. Hadn’t done much mining previously but I thought I would give it a go for the easy credits and the last bit of Trade rank I need for Elite.

I did take a short break from that on my last few sessions to pop out and see a few sights. Went to try and spot some Notable Stellar Phenomena in BD-12 1172, but for some reason nothing reported there would show up. It is an astonishing system nevertheless, so it was well worth the trip.

Also went and took my first look at a Thargoid Barnacle forest, which was really cool.

Next session I was thinking about heading over to the newest Guardian ruins discovered to check that out, and maybe one of the Guardian structures in space.

I just very nearly - very - bought some ARX. I talked myself out of it as there isn't anything in the store that would complete my life. Although one of the Phantom snake skins looks good. I need more COVAS. And, I have mentioned it before, a Joanna Lumley or a Stephen Fry one would be fantastic. So would a Vyvyan (the forum filter prohiibits his surname) or Wick

Well, what I was going to do today was go and do some CG deliveries out to Upanakilis, (which only started on Monday) because it is the first time since last weekend that I have had the opportunity to actually play a game.

Silly me.

Since people with far more leisure time than I have have filled the Fed’s coffers long before the end of the CG, I didn’t get a chance 😔

I’ve lit the fire and been watching some more of season 3 of The Expanse instead.

Well, I gave up on the useless Cobra III. Even parking it on top of a mountain with its nose facing the ruins wasn't enough to intercept skimmer missiles - the SRV still took a pounding. So I flew it back to base, traded in the one Guardian module blueprint I had farmed for an FSD booster, fitted it to the old, trusty Challenger and popped back for another bout of Skimmer slaughter.
In a couple of hours I managed to get 5 module blueprints, but the downside is that having the Challenger shoot down the missiles has turned a tense task into a boring drudge - even when facing 4 skimmers the Challenger won't let a single missile through where the Cobra might - if it was lucky - shoot the odd one down.
A couple more hours farming obelisks and I'll head off for weapon blueprints, then its back to the Pleiades for some scout scalping before I grow a pair and take on an interceptor.

One of my favourite series of recent times, that (y) After the last episode, you'll wonder what will happen next ;)

Been testing weapons. My favorites were frags or beams.
Two huge MCs (overcharged/autoloader), check! (y)
Long range beams for the rest, check! (y)
Then I thought I had a good idea: Long range inertial burst lasers...
Useless! (n)(n) My own bad, but don't do it. It's worse than the opponent using chaff all the time.

I've come back home from my HIP8444/8758 money making effort so I'm looking to tool up the 'Vette (this is the ship whose name can't be repeated but seems to have survived a rap on the knuckles for rude word usage). Not sure how much A-rated stuff to put on it but I intend to make it a combat ship (another one).

Which may be a little silly given how buff my 'Conda is.

Futile really. My combat doth suck mightily.

Nice! I also have been working on an AX ship of my own. Any recommendations for the ship to use? I have been working on an Alliance Chieftain (Invictus) but am not sure whether I should use the more combat orientated Alliance ships like the Challenger or Crusader? I play on Xbox, and mainly fly on my own currently as most of my friends I used to play with are not around these days.

I need to be able to take out the Interceptors solo. My combat style I prefer is to move quickly and hit hard focusing on evading and high damage rather than tanking. I have no real desire for SLF’s with this ship, and it is purely for AX combat. Would the Alliance Chieftain be a good fit? Open to suggestions if anyone has more knowledge than I do. I have only read about AX combat (never even fought a scout at this point) so any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Luckily I had done a lot of the Guardian site stuff when it first released and had a large stockpile of the mats needed to unlock the experimental items when I looked into it last night. Unlocked the main stuff but I do need a few more bits and pieces just for the sake of unlocking everything, namely Epsilon data.

I think the last thing I have to do before Invictus is ready is to engineer the modules, but I do need to gather a few materials to get that sorted.

Ain’t gonna lie, the closer I get to facing one of those beasts in combat the more nervous I get haha! I certainly expect to visit the rebuy screen a few times whilst learning the dance.

I'll let you know how the Lakon ships perform when I've tackled an interceptor. Spent yesterday farming blueprints and patterns. Quite disappointing how easy the weapons blueprints are to obtain compared with the module ones. Currently I have 10 weapons blueprints after just a couple of hours, maxed out three of the pattern data (but not Epsilon - only have 96 of those), so sometime this week I'll have to fly back to the bubble and choose how to outfit my Challenger - open to suggestions there.

Scouts are easy. Outfit a Krait with 4 AX MCs and mow them down like you are the grim reaper. I posted a short video a few weeks ago.
