Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Having a marvellous time today, both accounts doing rescue work in Shenve. I'm in the T-9, Tanya's in a scabby Python. World of difference. The Pythons in and out like a rabid whippet, the T-9 like a faithful old St Bernard (But slower).
The T-9 wins it easily, but I'd recommend the Python for rescue trainees, even unengineered it's quite easy to get out of sticky situations.

Note: This is salvage operations. For refugees the Conda comes out.

For station rescue i found the T-7 offered plenty of room for passengers and cargo All the stately manoeverabilty of a T-9 without the excessive cost of the python and plenty of hang time over the pad. But if you've got it, flaunt it why not. Keelback is good also for cheap allround brick/someone starting out in salvaging.

Today, I poodled about in the bubble. My head in a fug from last night.
I nearly died thinking I was far enough away from a White Dwarf, those buggers bite.
Considering catching a ride on The Conduit in Zende and making my own way home, but that's not til Thursday.
The hangover may have worn of by then.

I am in Newton's Vault, 17955 LY from Beagle Point (234 jumps so far) and 47467 LY from the bubble. Next waypoint is Iojang EL-Y F86 in the Empyrean Strats, almost 20000 LY away from my current position and 165 jumps to go (yes, I am using the neutron road).

I have noted that from Beagle Point to the southern edge of the Abyss, there was nothing but already discovered systems. It was only after entering the Formorian Frontier that I started to find undiscovered systems.

Jumping the carrier back to the bubble. Not the most exciting of pastimes. Still, there's some cash to be made although not the vast swathes of it you used to get - that's all so last year man.

After that, I need to see about my tritium levels. I may splasha de casha and spend a lot on it. The thing is, I really dislike seeing my credit levels tumble on Inara :LOL:

Painted the carrier a lime green colour which also now the colour of its engines and landing pads :D More ARX than sense but hey ho.

Took the Mamba out to assassinate a pirate and his two henchmen. It was a mission tated "master" so it was sort of a bit easy - I really need to start challenging myself.

Stocked up a little on tritium. Full depot and ~700 in reserve. Which isn't a whole hill of beans but I'm waiting on a better painite price before I grab more.

EDIT Just landed my iEagle, using the ADC, on to the carrier. Tha ADC needs a firmware upgrade or a boost clock (or judicious overclocking) as it smacked me into the deck. Reverse thruster braking was just not enough and the computer wasn't fast enough to handle the caclulations. Good job it didn't decide to boost at 932m/s... I suppose the moral of the story is: ditch the DC :D

I was close to Kenean, where INARA said your FC was docked, so I thought I pop in and have a butcher's at your new livery. You'd jumped before I got there, so maybe sometime later.
Heading on to Zende to have a look at the Megaship Conduit to book a birth to some Guardian sites and se if I've got my explorer legs back.

She's in Bellite now, following up on a rumour there's a good tri2 spot... if only :D

She's nothing much to look at though; once you've seen one carrer, you've seen them all really. The only real difference is their layout - Nautilus, Fortune or Victory. But, if you're passing by, there's a tab running behaind the bar.

Guardian shards, hull and module reinforcements unlocked and bought, heading to Mitnahas for decon limpet controller, then back to Shenve in the Witch Head.

Stacking 15 AX missions before I set off from Witch Head... possibly not the best idea ever.😬
The race is on!

Back after taking a holiday break, I decided to check out a new Platinum double hotspot someone found (Synuefe XU-N c23-19, planet 1, ring A). It turned out to be a very nice spot. It reminded me of the olden days a bit, nearly every asteroid had some Platinum in it, and many had quite high percentages. I was able to mine 207T in maybe an hour (I was doing some chores at the same time, so I didn't time myself precisely). The system isn't far enough from the bubble to be free of pirates, though.

Platinum has the advantage of being less volatile, price-wise, than Painite. You can reliably find places to sell it for 280,000 or so. I was able to sell mine for 294,000/T, which translated into 60 million profit. Plus I had a small amount of Osmium as well.

So, as far as laser mining goes, I think Platinum is the current winner. It seems my mining Cutter will continue to be useful :)

Bloody nice ship bud.

Today I tried mapped mining for the first time. It turns out that the asteroids in a ring are not actually random. You get the exact same asteroids each time. Which means that if you spend some time and are very precise about where you start and the path you take, you can map out the positions of high-yield asteroids, and then come back and mine them again next time. Apparently they refresh every 2 hours if you're in Solo.

Anyway, people are doing this now and I wanted to try it myself. I decided on a popular platinum map, and headed out. The system was, of course, chock full of carriers.

Following the map turned out to be pretty easy once I came to grips with how things looked on my screen vs the map, and got into the groove of very precise alignment of my ship with the visuals. I found it rather fun, actually.

I've never seen so many 50%+ asteroids in a row before, so it was amusing in that way, too.

I was following a map for a normal hotspot, not one in a RES, HIGHRES or HAZRES. Yields are boosted in RES, HIGHRES and HAZRES so the boldest miners are making maps of those, and to follow them you must be ready to deal with the pirates you'll get.

I may have to try that sometime for the giggles.

Anyway, I spent about and hour and a half goofing around with the map. I was unable to finish it because my hold was full. The method definitely works.

Some might consider it a bit "cheaty", I suppose. It doesn't bother me particularly :)

And that's what I'm up to today!

Wow. Not heard of mapped mining before! Is there a map for 50% tritium roids? :D

I also did some mining and got 74 tritium in an hour. Not great, so I saw a hazres in the same system and used that to vent while waiting for painite prices to go up.

Which they did. In a system 660lys away
