Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

"It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion."
'Start your day with a fresh cuppa joe, sucking on the teat mixed with water but slow,
a stirring and a swirling on the sludge thats below,
that's how to start the morning..'.
. Now with added jingle..

Went to a hazres with a friend yesterday, he was training a NPC fighter pilot and we made some nice bounty money. Figured that the Vulture is probably about as good as it'll ever be, so bought a Krait mark II, outfitted it with beam lasers and railguns, now engineering it to make it more nimble.

As I was making the first test run with latest improvements, the friend sent me a message stating that he's stranded without fuel two jumps from Sothis because of forgetting to re-install the fuel scoop in his travel ship after using the slot for something else. So, I jumped in the AspX, installed a fuel transfer limpet controller and helped him out.

Overall, a fun weekend.

Great to be able help out another CMDR! (y)

So, I've been grinding trade missions in my Krait mkII recently, and have almost finished outfitting my Imperial Cutter. I didn't have enough to buy the 8A shield generator or the 8A thrusters.
But I had money left over, so I bought a Python and started outfitting it.
Turns out I had an "azure" paint job for it. What was that from?

You have one for every ship (currently) in the game.

In preparation for Odyssey which will require Horizons capabilities they made the Base game and Horizons a single package to purchase for the price of the Base game in compensation everybody who had purchased Horizons got Azure paint jobs for every ship in the game.

Today I am regretting that I live on a bus route otherwise it would be so much fun to scrape some of the ice patterns off the spare room window and watch the cars of those not locked down try to get through the 150mm of snow that is still here from yesterday.

A short walk away one of the local parks stands at the top of a long fairly gentle hill which I am sure will be popular when the kids log off from school.

After admiring the views I will get back to work and visit Jameson’s crash site.

It's the free give-away supposedly bestowed as compo for having patience with FD's foibles, when they dropped the horizons requirement for planet landability. Typically, it did not appear for some, with promises that the issue was being 'looked into'.
I'm not sure if a notification appears in your in=game inbox,.(Your new paintjob has been delivered to the livery store'; or some such), but being merely cosmetic, much like the C4(iv), it's absence did not impact on one's ability to play ( and enjoy) the game. Immensely.
Mine still hadn't arrived last time i visited livery about a week ago.

Actually they haven’t dropped the Horizons requirement for planetary landing, you can still launch the Base game and be moved back into space if you are on a planets surface, they have just bundled the two into a single download.

I don’t remember a notification but I am on PC and don’t use Steam and as far as I can tell have all the paint jobs, most of the issues I read about involved one of the consoles or Steam.

Spent ages hanging around sniffing around for mats required for my final engineering push (where in the stars do I get Thermic Alloys?!), got bored, and dropped into a HazRes Low. Like popping balloons until I took on a wing by accident. Still fine, and up to a whopping 10% Novice - combat Elite may take me some time... 😂

Yes, that's the ticket. Although i stopped using my steam account several years ago, i believe the account is still theoretically active. I'm hoping the consol fix for platforms will occur pretty soon after the prealphabeta ends.

I can still play the base game but lack of landing anywhere except rocks and boxes gives an unexpected level of risk to the task, and i have adapted my game to compensate.

Shipped the Dragonfly out for 14 Million and change. Seemed like a good deal to me at the time. Took a few days to arrive.(130 hrs)

General maintenance is pita but it gave me a chance to practice my emergency and repair skills.
Time to decrompress a little before setting out on the next leg of my journey to the outer arm, where there is somewhere in that region an glimpse into the underside of the universe that intrigues me.

Thermic alloys? As usual, signal sources (forgot which ones) or high level cargo missions - the ones where the competition sends assassins after you. After killing them, collect whatever they leave floating around.
