Codex.Where do find that info?
I'd always assumed Cmdrs were estimating when they said how many hours they played. But, like I keep telling myself, what do I know?

That sounds like good info. It's actually similar to what I was attempting to do one my own. It's a little daunting to just plot one trip to Colonia so breaking things up by looking for points of interest along the way seemed like a better idea. Particularly as I can only jump around 28lys. I should probably dump all cargo/limpets and see if there's any modules I don't really need for long trips. I definitely need to consider a new fuel scoop as well. The basic one I have is suitable for the bubble but it was taking an age to fill the tank. In fact I'll also take a proper look at the Keelback (I was using the Cobra).I finally arrive at Mammon and think about where to head to next. I've been following Cmdr Turner's Colonia voyage (which is a good thread btw) and realise Mammon is the start of the Colonia Highway, so this afternoon I've been sat at the Astrogation panel and bookmarking my journey. Not sure how far I'll get before the Space Madness kicks in again, but each leg is only ~1Kly. I'm not expecting much of a reward for exploration either as it's a pretty beaten track by now, but hey ho! let's go!
o7 Cmdrs
I wouldn't recommend doing this in a keelback, but each to their own. IIRC, the stock range is around 17ly, not sure when it's been fully modded.I tested the waters a bit for a Colonia trip by heading out to a couple of nebula along the way, but then I remembered the news of a signal source heard in Swoilz XX-D c1-30 and decided to double back there. I didn't see much besides a trillion fleet carriers but at least I was able to repair my ship and the like. I was only carrying cargo (besides limpets) so I could randomly dabble in various markets to unlock an engineer but that might not be a smart thing to do if you wish to avoid pirates in parts of space where there are no station services around.
I think I'll probably skip the hunt for the signal source anyway.

I just noticed the Colonia Connection Highway wiki while typing this and feel like that might be a good base route to mark out. I'll look for a station with outfitting/shipward close to Swoilz XX-D c1-30 tomorrow and hopefully use that as a jumping off point for Mammon.
Good point on the shorter jumps allowing for more data to be collected. I got back in this afternoon, filled the kettle up to the brim, and have reached Mammon to set up the trip. It was about 800Ly from Swoilz XX-D c1-30 so I made a nice little chunk of bread in data.I wouldn't recommend doing this in a keelback, but each to their own. Back in 2015, I took my T-6 out to Barnard's loop and the Coalsack.
My Diamondback Explorer has a range of about 40ly, I'd begun to mod the fsd before I set out. I was advised by Cmdr Tyre's and Cmdr Codger to fully mod the FSD (and as much else as possible) and I can confirm they are right! But 40ly range is OK. I get to visit more systems and collect more data.
If you check out the Colonia Highway, the Outposts are between 1.3Kly and 2.5Kly apart. I think there's one stretch which is much longer (after Rohini?).
Here's a bookmarked map I made from Cmdr Turner's table in his OP in Cmdr Turner's Colonia voyage:

I only have a 2A scoop so I guess I'll have time to read a few of the books which have been sitting on my shelf. Just heading out to Mammon was the trickiest trip I've ever made since I kept hitting fields of dwarf stars and had to make multiple detours so I didn't end up stranded in the middle of nowhere. It was interesting though. I've not really had to worry about that a lot before.Apologies, also to add. I've got a 4A Fuel Scoop which can pull in upto 240/s and my tank can jump around 4 times (at 40ly each) before it needs filling up. I actually fill it at every oportunity, because I know I'm going to hit the Doldrums sometime.
I thought you played in solo but I must be thinking of someone else on here.Well, if we pass like two ships in the night - ha lol etc - my FC is fitted with carrot and there's are no tariffs on stuff.
I'll even stand you a few drinks at the bar
Edit. Carrot. Have to love predictive text! I meant to say "carto".
I'm only 1.3Kly ahead of you and can only get on my PC for a couple of hours a night, so you make catch me up and pass me.Good point on the shorter jumps allowing for more data to be collected. I decided against the Keelback anyway. Partly because the FSD doesn't offer much more than the Cobra MK III, and partly because it just didn't feel right to use a backup cargo ship. There's no way I can take this trip in anything but my Cobra.
I've only mapped out the basic highway markers so far but I think I'll go ahead and mix in the locations from Turners page. It'd be nice if you could have different colour markers.

My range is only 27Ly but that's alright. Assuming I don't hit any empty parts of space. I wasn't really doing much in the bubble anyway.
I've brought this up previously. I've been pre-pending my bookmarks with numbers so they appear in order. It'd be nice if you could have different colour markers.
You don't mean the in-game markers? I see no way to edit them. Although I've restricted myself to a few early sites that I might visit so it hasn't muddled the main highway very much. I can always double check the list on my way. Abandoned settlements and ruins are things most likely to take me off the path. The later things don't interest me enough to stop me making that final run to Colonia. I can always check them out another time.I'm only 1.3Kly ahead of you and can only get on my PC for a couple of hours a night, so you make catch me up and pass me.

Are you in Open or a Private Group?
Good Look Cmdr and fly safe!
If you go to the bookmarks tab in the map and select a bookmark a menu pops up with Plot Route at the top, Edit is the second item, Delete is the third item and something to do with squadrons last. You don't mean the in-game markers? I remember during the beginning of furlough last year when I started playing Elite and was exploring a lot in and around the bubble, I would just leave the game running in the background so I could dip in when I felt like system hopping. This might get a bit nostalgic. Sometimes I'll go a week without playing anything but I've enjoyed getting into Dead Space this week and finally having a fun goal in Elite that's reliant on nothing but my own patience to complete.
I didn't even think about the boost it would give to my exploration rating. That was always the ship badge I considered most important.
And I'm in open under 'Knezevic'.
First one to call the Fuel Rats buys drinks at Colonia!
Are you on Xbox? I noticed you mentioned Dead Space. If so, I have no idea about bookmarking on the platform. On a PC, you can edit them. I stick a number and description on mine so I can work out what in the 'hood. You don't mean the in-game markers? I see no way to edit them. It's the journey not the destination, lol!I didn't even think about the boost it would give to my exploration rating. That was always the ship badge I considered most important.
I've sent a request. I sent out several this evening, so apologies in advance Cmdrs. And I'm in open under 'Knezevic'.
You're on! First one to Colonia also picks up the tab at Jaques.First one to call the Fuel Rats buys drinks at Colonia!
Oh, I do. But FCs are persistent across game modes so my bar - which I Iike to call "Ten Forward" - is always openI thought you played in solo but I must be thinking of someone else on here.
Hope you have some good holiday snaps to share with us!Greetings!
I am presently 43,768 LY away from the bubble, and I have only 60 jumps to go to reach my exploration target area at the edge of the Sagittarius-Carina Arm region.
On the way, I found several previously undiscovered neutron stars and notable star phenomena, as well as three ELWs.
I should be at the exploration target area later today.

Not trying to correct you, and I LOVE your exploration posts, really follow them avidly. But I properly love my explorer Keelback, love the thing. It has an SRV bay (although admittedly only a single), a 4A fuel scoop, a fighter hangar which can be a hoot for canyons and a change of pace, but still jumps just over 47ly. And boosts over 430. It's a brilliant bit of kit, I'd take on any long journey in it and I am constantly surprised that they aren't more popular with explorers. I have an Anaconda for real long range but barely use it - I split my exploration time between the Keelback and the Asp Scout. The Keelback really holds up to scrutiny, makes a logical case for itself.I wouldn't recommend doing this in a keelback, but each to their own.
