Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Fun fact. Most of the people going out here fly an AspX.

Just looking at the Asp and I don't think I'll buy one. I like the idea of buying a new ship but not a mid-range one like the Keelback. It'd have to be something quite different to get me away from the Cobra and iEagle. Something really big. And even then it'd only be an alternate.

I'm now out here at the Shards. It took me less than half an hour to get here. 23 jumps in an AspX. Now, if I could only remember where the geysers were... Well maybe I should go and stock up the inventory first.
Sometimes it is funny - I have been to such a planet yesterday - 1.5 hours and no outcrop in sight - then I recall my ship, it landed about 1.4km away, and guess what, right in the middle between 2 outcrops, which showed up on the scanner when I approached my ship.

Oooo, my speakers should arrive tomorrow because they were on Prime. Excuse me while I go wait at the door.

Hope they work out for you! I ditched speakers a few years ago - had some Creative 5.1 thingies - in favour of headphones. Much more other-people friendly and it means I can blast away at inhuman volumes late into the night without incurring the wrath of my nearest and dearest. I peronsally think you can hear more, too.

And there's far less desk real-estate to clutter stuff up. I do like a clean workstation :D

Back to the game...

Nearly got all the cash back I paid for the FC so the coffers are looking quite rosy. Should stand me in good stead for when Odyssey goes live. And speaking of Odyssetm, I ought to go back into the alhpa at some point and figure stuff out. Trouble is, the live game is too damn addictive.
Now you recommend headphones after the speakers are on the way.🤷‍♂️

Odyssey. I've run out of oxygen. Twice. Been shot to pieces three times and I don't know why. I don't know how to recharge my suit or resupply oxygen levels. I don't know how to open doors or call a shuttle in when things go pear-shaped. I haven't even tried a mission yet as I have no idea what I'm doing. I hope they do a training/walkthrough whatsit at some point :D

I'm such a n00b.

I recommended the following video from Exigeous as it covers the essentials:

Separate from that video, I still get shot to pieces every time I try one of the "restore power" missions. I select threat 0 ones but I get shot every time, really annoying.

BTW - here is a cheat sheet of which mission destinations are not over 130,000 ls away (but see the EDIT below):

EDIT: Check your spawn location - you might be in the Star C area, the above cheat sheet should then be read as places to avoid! (I got caught by this on a clear save of the Alpha)

Downside is that all of those need to seal off the ear, either inside or outside, and therefore might be uncomfortable to wear for a longer period.

Thats me there alright! Those big ole earphones give great sound but it really uncomfortable for my ears after 15 mins. Those times where I fly biz class for work, I ask for the cheapo economy ear plugs/phones cos its much more comfortable for me.

Meanwhile, got sick of bounty hunting and rigged the Big Yellow T10 for mining. Nearly 400 tons of space. Had to give up the shields though. The big fella needs too big a shield generator and I cant afford to use the big slots.

I have a light one from Sony covering all of the ears - but I can still get what is going on around me as well - those do not eliminate all surrounding sounds and that is good that way. I wear those for 6 to 8 hours pretty much on every day, where I'm at home and I find them quite comfortable - well after a while the pressure gets less and then it's comfortable to wear. And due to not being shut out of the surrounding sounds completely, I can even interact with other persons irl without to take them off.

I love spring. Such a shame the weather is about to go downhill next week.

There are a few trees round here that I think of as my Zelda trees. They can look pretty in summer. I like to think of myself leaning beside them as I gently play a flute.

Obviously this one has been cut down but the one on the other side of my flat is really Zeldary.

Amazon/DHL guys have no excuse now. This plan cannot fail.

If you havent done that run, try it. I already made 2 pilgrimages to that system. Loaded up all the 'iummmms. Never feel short of materials now.
I'm gonna try it. I've opened Wip's post in a new tab in case I forget.

What is it you fly on business class for, Yingnei?

I hate the feeling of an earphone stuck in my ear, to be honest. I find it to be really uncomfortable and annoying. Just not as annoying of a drag that is the late shift.

That is why I don't use an ear piece but a set which is covering my whole ears - I don't like pressure on my ear drums and this way my whole ear can help with capturing the sounds and I can put the ear phones on very low volume. This way I get as well both - the sounds of the game and what is going on around me in rl as well - if there is something what should grab my attention. I had others before, where I felt quite isolated from my surroundings, that wasn't a good feeling - but each to it's own, I guess.

Hope you dont get SRV sick like me. I have to limit myself to 1-2 sessions per planet run (150 mats) or I get motion sickness.

Work for some MNC. But with all the cost cutting, might not get to smell biz class again.

Ear plug in the ear I can bear, those big ones which cover the whole ear, hurts my ears.

it depends on if those are on your ears or surrounding your ears - mine has no pressure on my ears at all, because it basically just sits on the skull enclosing my ears.

When it comes to ear pieces those one gets in airplanes on long haul flights are quite comfortable as well - they are from Bose.

Doesnt seem to work for me, must be my head shape! I tried adjusting it all ways to put the pressure on the 'headband' part but somehow my ears hurt. Yeah it was Bose too. Sound quality was excellent and cancels out all the noise including jet engines.

Just been reading that they may be adjusting the aggressiveness in lower threat levels.
