Thanks for the warm welcome back CMDR's - nice to see so many familiar names
So I continued my little jaunt across the surface of Isis II, in search of the new bio-thingies to sample for fun and profit!
Standing atop my Adder - the 'Splorer', with the vast crater in the background:
I'm bound for that patch of pale discolouration in the distance - maybe this is the bio-sign I seek?
In the best Charlie Brown tradition - I got a rock...
Up at the top of the crater edge, just between those two bright stars, is where my ship is parked.
And this is only about halfway down.
Still perched on my rock, the Bloop hovers coyly above:
'The Bloop' - oh grief, he's on his nonsense again! Maybe one day the permits will be lifted/available, and we can go hang with the Thargoids in their crib.
'Til then, I'll just keep looking up and sighing.
Although you can't see it here, due to my high vantage point on the big rock, I'm still only halway down the crater wall - it got a lot shallower from here, but there was still a lot of descending to do before the crater floor.
Would you look at that!
A bacterial cow-pat to call my own! I found a few more close-ish, but far enough for genetic diversity, and was able to get a 'confirmed' in the Codex. Woot!
They're not much to look at, but it's a start!
It took another 45 mins of driving, but I did get to the dioscoloured region - it was just a change in the colour of the rock surface! Ah well, exploring in the SRV with the option to hop out every so often and get a good look around/your bearings is a lot of fun.
Although I might have to change away from orange colours before heading out towards Jellyfish and Crab nebulae to unlock Palin and co.
Orange on orange isn't the greatest colour composition
EDIT: to add -
I agree with
@Yingnei Gasua about the 'unfair' situation with the ground CZ's - I just tried one out because I hadn't yet, and they where there - and when I got between 3-5 times what I'd been getting in the Space CZ's for the same amount of time, I stuck at it. Made top 25% on an afternoon and evening of play.
I'm sure they'll 'nerf' it once its been refined a bit and been available on console for a few months - like all the other 'gold rush' features before it.
I'm unlikely to do it that much until the experience improves though - the feel of the weapons and being hit is pretty limp (snerk), and the gameplay had nothing new to add that wasn't available, and better implemented, in a myriad other games. Not to hate on Odyssey - being able to hop out of my SRV and noodle about on foot is great, and I hope more will come of being able to do that over time!
I haven't tried the foot missions yet - looks like I'll have to if I want to upgrade my gear, though. No rush, I was never big into Engineers, either - just a few FSD and other tweaks here and there.
