Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

And in today's and last year's game, 30 minutes bounty hunting alongside system authority ships in the sidewinder gets you into a Hauler with a DSS. About an hour and a half in that doing road to riches and you get 20 million+ ASP Explorer credits and all the beginner early game ships become completely optional to try.
That's not always the case with the cops, last night I attacked an Anaconda with 2 Vipers as wing mates and all they did was get in the way. They never fired a shot but got between me and the pirate a dozen times, I got a 200 cr bounty on me because of it. Usually, I let off the trigger when I see them drifting into my line of fire. They actually collided with me 4 times during that fire fight taking half my shields, I was ed.

Weather would be a great addition. Wind, electrical storms... It'd be great!
And clouds even!

These two ships are separated by over 22kly of space, so I don't think we'll see spaceship babies anytime soon 🤣. In fact, you were in Ratraii where the Mermaid is parked (Colonia Dream) recently, so if you wanna try asking her for a date.... 😅

Oh they are parked at the same place, my Dolphin. I think Ratraii was the jewel of Colonia and made good money just running tourists to see the nearby Jaques visitor beacons etc. There is a booming tour business over there

Now I am just about 1000 light years from home. I mainly kept the pedal to the metal a few days to get home but,

Psst is that you IC-1287? This is starship RU-18+

You're an awful perty nebula. Do you know where a cmdr get a drink around here?

And inside the cool cmdrs drink Huarma rum!

Made it to the CG. I decided to participate after all. All that Tritium in my carrier's hold is suddenly worth nearly 5 times as much. I decided to sell some of it and use the profits to finance my next few trips into the black. I'll just buy the Tritium back later at normal prices.

Usually I do some trading or bounty hunting between exploration trips, and buy Tritium with the money. I won't have to do that for a while now.

I made over 1.3 billion in just over an hour today. I'll probably manage a few more runs later, maybe.

Here's the Cutter lifting off from the carrier, full of nice, fresh Tritium. Or not so fresh. It's been in the hold a while.

I got to Elite II in trade in the midst of this, so I stuck the new Decal on the trade Cutter. Seemed appropriate.

Nice made a billion is last night finding some spots to run my cutter from. Be back to printing credits tonight.

Good colour and engine colour choice on the Cutter ;)
If I sell 1.6 billion worth of tritium on my carrier at the CG price, I'll still have 1600t left. Silly not to. It will fund more services and their upkeep, and I can can just replace the tritium fuel every time I take the Cutter out for some other reason and just fill it will tritium for the return trip.

Some of the other commanders I was flying with were making 275 Mil profit.
I dropped the shield and replaced it with another class 6 cargo rack to make that much in one run - 768t as I can't be bothered to take out the class 4 guardian FSD booster for just 16t more. The auto launch couldn't aim the ship through the mail slot and I was down to 56% hull before I rescued the situation.
Edit: I'm also buying off my own fleet carrier at 51K per ton. There might be better prices around. I have 1 jump and an approx 1000ls supercruise on both legs of the trip.

Thanks for the reminder...

I have to confess, i dropped FSD Booster too. 792 t. I kept ADC, still i find it useful for station landing, and i try not to look at the screen when landing on a carrier.

A question though, i never even tried corvette. Both cutter and anaconda that i own are well known for their handling, especially in supercruise, and i barely stand it (have to, who'll haul if not cutter, i guess T9 handling is not that much different). On the other hand both orca and clipper maneuvrability feel much more acceptable for me and feel much less of that a huge overloaded truck driving. Is corvette more like orca, ppl say it's maneuvrable? To put it in a simple way, does it turn faster in both supercruise and normal space?

Not tried a Clipper yet, but I understand it is very agile even by medium ship (which it is, really) standards. I know the Orca well on thrusters and in supercruise and it's pretty agile.
The Corvette is most similar to the Anaconda, with slightly better pitch and yaw in supercruise and a little better again on thrusters. I'm not sure it matches the Orca. Maybe it's somewhere between the Orca and Anaconda. It's real trick in combat is, delivering most of its DPS in the same firing arc above the ship where you can see it. That and the little bit better pitch, yaw, roll rate is why it kills noticeablly faster than an Anaconda. The Anaconda's higher DPS only works when the target is right in front of the ship. The Corvette can carry two class 7 shield cell banks in addition to the class 7 shield so has much more shield strength available than the Anaconda.
In short, the Corvette is more satisfying to fly than the Cutter and Anaconda, and this is in part down to how it sounds and looks. I look forward to flying it again more than either the Cutter or Anaconda, with the Cutter being the one I only fly if I need to move a lot of something around. I will still invent something to do to spend time in the Anaconda.

Yeah, wasn't hoping it's matching orca, it's still much bigger. I'll just get one at some point and try. For combat compatibilities no doubt ofc, and heard somewhere about weapon convergence too. One thing i'm glad to hear that it handles better than anaconda. Back when i've done my Fed rank, i was doing that especially for getting the ship, but somehow got distracted, done the rank and never got the ship. )

So far i'm just getting into FDL if i feel like shooting at things. 1 huge long range TV beam, which can kill anything alone if enough time given, and for medium ones i just bought those carrier weapon packages, wasted 2k tons and 2b credits, but now i'm able to equip 4x normal cannons (those real cannons, not multis) anytime and see how it looks like with em, even if not engineered, just to get a feeling. It looked nice actually, like that old times frigate's volley. Not really much combat xp, and most of it went from shooting pirate's paper planes. Yet to see what'll be if i get 4x torpedoes. P

Are the servers really slow for you guys too? Everything is taking an age to load, and the jump sequence is just sitting there for a long time, sometimes ending with an error.

Nop, not for me, looks usual, except for that i've jumped mb half an hour ago or so. I does throw black adders if jumping to the CG system sometimes though, but it was doing it before as well. If dl'n update, it should be obvious on your task manager network usage, it's still a significant amount of data. But i got it so bad with my ISP here that i kind of always blame ISP, too low chance that something else is wrong. P
