Well, that was fun.
I figured I would scan a few moons and planets to see if anything new was around. I picked up a human contact on this moon:
But then I saw the small debris field on the other side, so I went to check that out first.
When I fell out of super cruise, there was a destroyed Cutter there and a black box next to it. I went to go scoop up the black box but got jumped by Thargoids before I could get to it.
I barely made it out alive.
So, yeah. That's it for the kid. Back home and back to mining to work on carrier funds.

Scan the black box with your ship datalink scanner and you'll get some last messages from the crew.
I've scanned all ship log uplinks and black boxes I can find around planet 10. I've never used a shutdown field neutralizer before and its not working for me. Even if I wait for the energy surge warning prior to the shutdown field to hit the fire button on the neutralizer I still got caught. Still, boosting at 525m/s+ and low waking out of there gets you to safety. I did get down to 71% of my 4000 hull strength in the process of scanning everything I could find around planet 10 and its moons, including Bright Sentinel. I'll check out other planets later.
Field neutralizer is press and hold with a progress bar like D Scanner...in case that is the issue...
Yes, I pressed and held until that activation progress went all the way. I'll look for a youtube video...

There is also a timing aspect to it. Sometimes it works for me and other times I miss it...so I haven't gotten it down to a science yet...
Also, FA Off and boost is a good tactic...keep FA Off until your ship comes back online and you'll be kliks away...usually...

Well I decided to finally check out that Metallic ring in the system I'm currently calling home, out here in the Norma Arm somewhere.
It turned out to have a nice Platinum hotspot, so I took the Cutter for a mining run. The hotspot was excellent, with lots of high-percentage rocks. The very first rock I prospected was over 50%, and the highest one I found was 66.67% (I found 2 of those). There were lots in the 40s and 50s as I went along. I filled my hold (288 tons of Platinum and 6 bonus tons of Painite) and had a very relaxing time of it. Pretty nice views since the planet with the ring is an HMC, too.
I dumped the ore into my Carrier and went back to exploring the surrounding systems a bit. I discovered another Neutron star, and also a White Dwarf.
There was a landable planet about 1400ls from the Neutron star, so I went down to see how it would look. Turns out Neutron stars aren't that good at illuminating planets, I guess. Still, it was interesting and alien looking.

So it's still putting out the modified Thargoid energy wave? Maybe that's why the goids are so agitated? Marvin, did you try offering them some memorial mugs as a peace offering?
I think it's why Guardian technology rapidly decays. Thargoid agression I think is so they hold this system and stop humans taking it again.
If you wait for the goids to jump away, you can scan their wakes for data... if you have a wakes scanner fitted.
By jove I might have to try it. Strange lights, fearsome aliens, hull damage, and the scanning of encoded excitement. LIVE. You think it'll sell, really?
Yeah I'm not shakin anybody down but I do kinda got them bulkies over a barrel. It's like playing dolly, put down by the settlement like they want to see the excitement. You know they do though. And tell em to warm up the motor when the settlement turns red, and hang on to the exterior hull grab handles! WHOAHHHH
I think it might be more lucrative than etch-a-sketch with an SRV.

I was in HIP 22460 last night. I came in peace, I left in pieces. I removed all weapons from my ship, to see if they would react differently, but no.
They're soooo... angry!
Still, at 200k per rebuy, I got some good footage.
Was thinking of heading over to LHS 157 tonight. The Glorious Prospect is going there later this week. It's an M-Class Anarchy system. There's nothing there. It seems an odd destination that needs investigation.
